Without family hx, I didn't initially opt for these tests with my firstborn, but bi-lateral pleural effusion discovered during a third trimester scan did ultimately take me there to r/o downs, etc. We are lucky to have such a wide array of tests available to pregnant mamas.

This was great! Will you be doing one about the diagnostic tests (CVS and amniocentesis)? Would love to know more about those, pros & cons, how to pick one over the other, etc.

    Very informative video.
Today I received results from my cfDNA test and I was curious on how accurate is the fetus gender prediction.
I am also waiting for the results from CVS test because we both are SMA silent carriers.
    Thank you!

How did the testing go? I’m 31 and got abnormalities on my screening. Haven’t had testing but I’m scared.

To my fellow Canadians, the NIPT test is covered under our healthcare if you meet certain criteria. I am 40 and found out i meet the age criteria. Many physicians are not aware of this. I had to inform my family doctor to fill out a specifoc requisition from the prenatal screening of Ontario website.

Hello 👋 Is it dangerous or at risk ❓️ Be I am 46 and it's my first baby, the appointment is for next week.

Maybe she was asking if doing any of these tests can be dangerous or cause any risk to her or her baby? The NIPT is just drawing a little bit of blood from the arm, so no risk at all… ultrasounds also have no risks, of course… amniocentesis has risks and they’re always informed to the patients

I just turned 40 and had a miscarriage last week 🥺 it was my 1st pregnancy and took 6 months to conceive. I hope to be blessed to conceieve again soon 🌈🙏 all the best 💜
Also, in Canada the NIPT test is covered under our healthcare if you meet certain criteria. Age is one of them (40 and older). Not many physicians are aware. They need to fill out a special requisition that can be found on the prenatal screening of Ontario website.

@@MissSmurfey hi Sarah I am so sorry for your loss. My husband and I had a miscarriage Nov12 of this year and it’s totally debilitating but each day we are healing with one another and taking it a day at a time sometimes seconds at a time. Good luck to you on your journey

Is doing both an NIPT and Nuchal Translucency counterproductive since they have differing levels of reliability? I'm not sure I understood that point.

    • @dr.martaperez
      @dr.martaperez  2 роки тому +1

The NT can add data about anomalies not related to genetic abnormalities so is definitely ok to do both and some doctors do recommend that

Still until now I have not gotten a CLEAR answer to what can tell you the gender of the baby!!???? you just indicate a general comments, what does tell you it is male or female?? I am a details and root-cause kind of person,,, what do you see and say "oh it is a boy because ,,,,,,,'

The cell free DNA test is looking directly at the chromosomes so it can identify if the baby's sex chromosomes are XX (girl) or XY (boy)

    Pro Life Is Not Anti-Choice.
Choices always involve sacrifice of some sort. Abortion requires the sacrifice of life while pro-life options require a sacrifice of self. Although it’s often difficult, the sacrifice of self allows life to flourish.
Abstinence, adoption, responsibility and sex education all offer ways to increase life rather than take it away. What will you choose today?
