this is the most complicated impossible thing ive ever seen. all i wanted was to put an image that sits permanently overlayed on a video but its just rocket science. Jesus Christ

Hello and thank you for this video. It's been very helpful. I'm experiencing a quirk when I edit a mask on a track that includes pan & zoom edits. When I click to edit the mask shapes, the edit is done showing the clip's original size and position rather than the final pan & zoom size and position. The mask applies to the correct locations when finished, but it makes editing very difficult to guess where the mask needs to be. Am I doing something wrong with a view setting?
My Pinnacle is being choosy about where and when it lays down keyframes, they aren't always aligned with the time marker when i place them. Also, after a couple of trial runs, the opacity slider in panel masking stopped allowing me to place keyframes, regardless of whether i changed the opacity mid-mask or clicked the icon to directly place a keyframe.
Need more moving masking videos for help please

Hi, I'm following the tutorial frame by frame but I have an issue with rotation circle centred and this is picking the area to copy as my mask, when ever I go into any footage and start a new project, the rotation centre circle is displayed. How do I show screen shot here to show what I'm seeing

hiya, I noticed there is a lot of extra buttons on the toolbar, mine looks a lot less full, how do I add those extra tools to it? the manual mentions some sort of button to do so but I cant find it anywhere

Il est dommage que Pinnacle ne prévoit plus le cd de sauvegarde dans la commande du logiciel, si pour une raison ou une autre on change d'ordinateur comment fait-on pour réinstaller le logiciel? C'est pour cette raison que je n'achète plus les mises à jour.
Generally very helpful. But try not to forget you're teaching and something obvious to you might not be to someone else. When you started saying put key frame here, there and every where, it wasn't actually clear what you were doing and so I've got as far a having my picture in picture (panel mask) but have no clue what you do after that. My mask disappears and once I got it to not disappear, but it didn't move. Please go slower and explain clearly every step. Thanks 😊

I got an email from Pinnacle studio advertising ultimate 23 saying the masking/blurring feature is new for 23 ultimate only. However I have 21 Ultimate which also has masking/blurring feature. What is new for 23?
Previously, mosaic blur could be applied using the motion tracking feature to accomplish a similar effect.

Attention Corel / Pinnacle: This tutorial contains a very serious error. Users who follow the instructions will waste many hours, suffer great woe, and be compelled to write sour reviews.
The tutorial purports to teach how to mask one paddle-boarder with a watery surface. At 7:20 it says that, one must first drag the drawn "shape mask" from the (-5 :+25.4) original horizontal:vertical coordinates to cover the item one wants to cover (at -.9.5 :+23.2) , then copy the shape mask's new coordinates to the location coordinates for the related clip. That is WRONG. Changes to the clip's coordinates revise the location of the CENTER of the entire frame. That is quite different than the much smaller partial adjustments needed to move the frame to make the masked frame cover what one wants to cover. In this case, by pure luck, the copy and paste approach works because the pasted coordinates happen to feature water. But it is NOT the watery spot originally selected. The patterns are quite different. In practice, most attempts to mask, using this approach, will yield a "mask" with an appearance totally unlike the space where they drew the shape mask, since the change in the clip coordinates varies vastly from the changes needed to move the shape mask to cover what needs to be covered.
The (difficult, tedious, and hair-tearing) work-around is to subtract the shape mask old and new coordinates from each other, then apply the difference to the clip coordinates. This is feasible in the case of a static shot, but becomes a nightmare if one needs to key-frame a shot where there is both motion and panning. This makes the whole tool nearly worthless.
Recommendation: Corel / Pinnacle should offer a patch that automatically translates the changes in shape mask coordinates to complementary changes in the overall clip coordinates. The user would still need to key-frame movements of the shape mask, but not suffer the complex burden of manual calculation of all the relevant changes in mask versus clip coordinates. When in "mask" mode, there is no reason why one would want there to be any de-link between movement of the mask and the relevant movement of the masked clip.
I have found Corel tech support in several cases unworthy. Your suggestions are are worth submitting to their product feedback team or in Corel forum. Thanks for your efforts in pointing this out and sad to see they have yet to respond to your correction.

good to know PINNACLE STUDIO has advanced masking capability. BUT WHAT ABOUT ITS GREEN SCREEN EDITING CAPABILITY?
I've been using cyberlink powerdirector's chrome key tool which is very bad.
I have PS 20 and it has very good options for green screen, no doubt this hasn't changed in this version. Also newblue fx has theirs to use as well.

Very indepth tutorial, thank you. Can the keyboard short cut for adding and removing the selection on masks be changed by the user? If not, could you make it Shift to add and Alt to remove selections sometime? Those of us using Adobe software such as Photoshop etc are used to those keys for adding/removing in selections with marquee and brush tools etc. Thanks.

@@PinnacleStudioLife QUESTION - I"m thinking of buying Pinnacle 23. One thing I'm wanting to do is overlay still head shots onto a video of people moving. Kind of like the "jibjab" videos you see. Is this something I can do with your software?
@@briansutphin3402yes - you should be able to make this effect with Pinnacle. If you import the still head as a png you can use motion tracking or keyframing to move the image along. If you want the face to be moving as well (Ex. Mouth talking) it is doable, just requires a lot more keyframing! You can always buy and give it a try - 30 day money back guarantee!
You do not explain how to bring up the mask menu. My same version of Pinnacle does not have the insert mask icon next to the track.

@@PinnacleStudioLife then the title needs to be specific to that. ive wasted many hours lookin at videos that only work with ultimate in cluding the fact that there are extra buttons that the regular studio does not have

Great video, you explain things very well. I am a new user to Pinnacle Studio 26 Ultimate. I mainly got it to use the pen tool and the only tool that shows up is the brush tool. Should the Pen tool have come with the program or is that an add-on extra I need to purchase? Any information would be very appreciated.

Hi, i'm using Pinnacle studio 24 ultimate.
I was trying to reproduce your training.
I was experiencing a problem at the part when you cut/paste the position coordinates of the mask to put it on the clip.
When i did that the mask was completly offset on the clip.
I've listened again and again at that part of the video training.
Then i found the reason.
In your video the X coordonate of the mask is a minus value after moving the mask.
Me in PS24U is a positive value.
But when i cut it in the editor X position of the clip i stays a positive value of course. But the result is completely offset.
So after listening again and again i found that if my X position is converted to a minus value it solved the problem.
Do you think it's a bug in PS24U or it's a change in the properties function?

Sono rimasto veramente deluso in quanto l'effetto dimostrato nella pubblicità in realtà il vostro software non lo fa poiché non segue gli oggetti in movimento già evidenziati con la maschera... Ho perso ore e ore per fare una cosa che potevo fare con lo green screen in un attimo. Farò un video per dimostrare tutto ciò e lo pubblicherò sui migliori canali... Mi dispiace ma è una delusione contavo su ciò che avete promesso nella pubblicità.. Ma vedo che non è vero.
Is V23 stable? Key feature.
The only way to know is if you try it on your computer. For me, it's stable.
This is hands down the worst video program I have used. It is clunky as all get out. Not intuitive and crashes often. Wildly overbuilt and I regret making the purchase.
Have you found a better editing program? Are you sure it isn't just the computer itself? Maybe even the presets. I know I'm a year late but I'm interested in being a video editor and want to know the best, most professional program available
