Should note, many of those UPS's aren't built for sustained loads longer than the battery they come with can do. Reason is because most come without fans for cooling.. but! yeah, i would still probably do this for fun too. Just be safe 🙂
This looks like a 600va ups so it should draw some 350-400w from the battery at full load and that equals around 30amp. So i hope u have atleast 15ah of Lifepo4 cells to sustain the discharge and add a fan cus this new battery will run this ups for much longer than the older leadacid so it will heat up a lot and might die.
@@VippoTech No.. normal desktop computer UPS is 360watts..i think, you don the experiment in 360 watt (500/600va) ups..🙏. By the way, you didn't revealed the result!! The back-up time, the charging etc .
while this is true but some UPS actually have a hard limit of their uptime regardless of the battery charge level. majority of entry level APC UPS have a hardlimit of 15mins uptime even if the battery's charge is still good. I know these because my APC UPS basicalyl just refuse to turn on for at least 30minutes after it shutoff from battery mode even if the battery is barely discharged. though some APC UPS dont have this limit on some of their UPS designed for router modem and landline usage, also almost all UPS with external battery support dont have uptime limit, but to be honest these UPS have robust circuitry and fan builtin anyway. so yes, as long as your using APC UPS, you will be fine. Else, cheap UPS from market should take caution using this kind of battery.
@@EmilePolkai am using 12ah 25.6v pack in br1000g-in and it runs it as long as the battery is above 21v. 300w load runs for 50min. That model of ups is made for external battery & can run pretty much indefinitely because it uses a totally different smps type inverter that runs cooler and have proper heatsink. I tried this battery on a bx1100 and at 100w it ran for 3hours. At 600w it ran for 5mins before the transformer melted and i had to cutopen the transformer to replace the thermal fuse. It works at 300w for 45min and the ups does not shut off after set time. And it is one of the cheaper 600w ups's although i do not recommend buying one. I bought that for 6000₹ new and it was a waste of money, with original battery it could not run my pc at idle for more than 15mins & while gaming it would give up after 2mins which is not enough to exit game and shut down. I bought the br1000g from a used scrap dealer for 2000₹ without battery. It has some scratches but it was working fine . I cleaned it up and made this Lifepo4 pack with 16 6000mah cells. Now at idle i can use the pc for over 2hours. And while gaming it goes for more than 40mins which is enough to even finish the game and average power cut in kolkata does not even last for 30mins. So 12ah is the sweet spot. The cells were 5000₹ from robu back in 2021. It has been running for 2 years now & have not lost a single minute of backup time. The bx1100 now powers router onu and tv with another 12ah 25.6v Lifepo4 pack. It runs the tv for over 4 hours. Lifepo4 is a game changer and cheaper than leadacid. It should be more popular.
Lead Acid full charge resting voltage is 12.8V, while 4S LiFePO4 full charge resting voltage is 13.6V. Now does this UPS charge the LiFePO4 battery fully to 13.6V, or it will stop charging when it detects that the battery has reached 12.8V? In your video there is no connection between the BMS and UPS, so the UPS still thinks that the battery it is connected to is a LEAD ACID battery. It will not fully charge your LiFePO4 battery to it's max capacity of 13.6V.
why does voltage drop from 13.5 v to 13.1 v in less than 10 minutes when I am discharging the UPS with only 50w load? what volts appear on your end while using the UPS battery
I'm Not a fan of wrapping my Lifepo4s or Li-Ions, due to lack of cooling. But if this is a low amp/watt ups It should be fine! I also like to have a little space between the cells, also for cooling.
