    Themis took the time to tell us he had no regrets, essentially that he forgave us and bore us no ill will. I am really happy for that. I hope he, Hythlodaeus, and Hades reincarnate and get happy lives.
    Or maybe they reincarnate on a shard, we meet them when they are older cus time dilation, and we get to pull their next selves into our adventuring shenanigans. So... happy lives all around at that point. lol

    • @jaesaces
      @jaesaces Рік тому +5

      I don't think they'll reincarnate on a shard because in the Endwalker MSQ Hydaelyn implied that the sea on other shards are separate when she had to take Minfilia's and Emet's souls back to the Source after their passing.
      Then again, Athena implies that she was able to pluck Themis' soul for use in the Themis we fight, so perhaps the boundaries between the shards of the underworld are not so vast.

    • @AlleluiaElizabeth
      @AlleluiaElizabeth Рік тому +5

      @@jaesaces She did imply that, yeah, but if it was Hydaelyn's existence that was keeping those lifestreams separated in the first place, it might be possible now that she's gone. Which would also explain how Athena was able to grab what was left of Themis from the 1st, like you said.

    I get such a kick out of how they constantly reinforce how dedicated Themis is to his duty.
    He saw scraps of memory that just barely hint that you and him help one another at some point, with barely any context, and immediately knows he must help you because in some way it will protect the star.
    He tells you about Hermes and Elpis, and is cooperative with you because he still feels it is his duty to serve the star as Emissary no matter what.
    A lot of fiction does that trope where a character is obsessed with their duty, but they really made it work with Elidibus. It isn't just his character trait or goal, it's his entire being.
    Down to the last iota of aether in his being, he serves as Emissary and will complete his duty. No matter the cost.

Confuse the shot out of Emet who catches a quick glimps). But no returning from the dead.

      they resurrected eldibus twice for the plot and explicitly showed him again at the end. He will be back along with Hythlodaeus, Hades, and Hephaistos (Themis sees his soul as a new star after he dissipates). Maybe not next expansion, but he's not gone as far as I'm concerned.
      We will use the Azem crystal to resurrect them at some point to fight whatever the Big Bad of the day is, maybe Jenova.
      People kept insisting Hades was gone after 5.0. Then 5.3. Now 6.0. Themis was gone after 5.3, then he was gone gone by his own words after 6.0. Now we see his soul survived and he's been restored as of 6.4.

    • @omegagilgamesh
      @omegagilgamesh Рік тому

      @jermtaztik5653 he was a proponent of "assisted suicide," meaning that his patients who were terminally ill were offered a chance to die with dignity, often before the pain of their illnesses made their lives truly hellish. In some cases, cancer patients deal with constant, excruciating pain for nearly a year, despite all the pain killers, before passing away.
      Kavorkian would set it up so that the patient could press a button that would inject them with a painless, but lethal, chemical. He was put on trial several times for this, but because he was never the one to push the button, he was never convicted. Until he had a patient who was physically incapable of pushing the button, and Kavorkian, with the patient's consent, pressed the button for them, and that was what put him behind bars.
      Then again, this is all from memory of news that happened some 20 years ago, I might be wrong on parts.

      @panzershuriken6590 I'm just confused because I can't find any one other person supporting this conclusion; everyone seems to not have noticed this isn't really the full Themis, just a reconstruction of him based on his memories. Obviously when we return to the actual Pandaemonium, he is just fine. (Until the Final Days come around, that is, and he slowly turns evil over time)

      As someone who's favorite character from the game is Themis/Elidibus, I completely understand why someone would be neutral about him or even dislike him. But I can go into why I and why I think many others like him, and my interpretations of the character!
      Elidibus is a character who through all of his cutscenes and the official short story is made to be a young adult put into a huge responsibility a bit too early. To reach a profession like Elidibus's in your (relative) early 20s, you inevitably have to put a huge chunk of your time since you were a child into becoming that skilled. And if you are extremely skilled at a young age at something through sheer dedication of time, it becomes a core part of your identity.
      Elidibus in 5.3 has nothing left of his identity except his duty, the profession he chose as Themis a long time ago. His memory loss was caused by being Zodiark's heart, but even before that unhealthy dedication to duty is said to have always been a trait of his. This was only amplified by Zodiark wiping his mind.
      When Themis became Elidibus, he was doubted about his suitability for the role. For a young person so skilled, having dedicated so much time to a single thing that there is no space left for an identity outside of "being good at being Elidibus", being doubted of your capabilities is the same as your entire self being questioned. This, along with his very sincere nature, always worrying about everything according to Emet, of course makes him take every criticism incredibly seriously. For a person like this, anything less than dedicating 100% of your time to your duty is not being good enough. So to me personally, he is the tragic end of making your entire identity your skill/profession, and the identity issues that follow.
      Aside from these themes, I find the way he speaks incredibly charming. Overly formal, while also being very sincere. I also enjoy him as a cold manipulative villain, who is motivated by truly, sincerely believing that he is right and he must succeed, or else he has failed everyone and himself.
      In Pandaemonium, I see his last speech as an acceptance of what his life was. He did not always do the perfect choice, but in the end at least some of his effort contributed towards noble goal. For someone as perfectionistic, implied to be obsessed with being good enough, accepting that is incredibly powerful. He gave so much of himself, dying for the world not only once but twice, that I cannot but wish he can now be in peace.
      This was very long haha, but I am very passionate personally about the character. If you somehow read this far, maybe you understand him a bit more! But it is ok to dislike a character.
