- Thanks for supporting me on Patreon: www.patreon.com/user?u=845171 In this honest review I ascertain if this tape is a good solution to rips and tears. This kind of gear damage is a significant problem for camping, hiking, traveling, or adventures into the backcountry, and I'm interested in exploring this cheap one-step repair item in detail. It works great in some applications and not so well in others. Also, compared to other common and repair tapes, price (even at $5) is a notable concern. I also discuss the Gear Aid and its parent company. Thanks for watching and subbing!
Thank you for doing such a thorough comparison. I just saved lots of time and money in my usual trial-by-error method.
I have used Tenacious Tape to make repairs to tents, air beds (in combination with Seam Sealer), wet weather gear etc. and have found it to be a great tape for this purpose. They also have coloured tapes that may or may not match your material being repaired. They even have reflective tape that can be applied to your clothing to make it a little safer walking or biking along the road at night. I have it on my hats and a couple coats. The hats have been washed a number of times and the tapes shows no sign of coming off.
very well done review
Interesting stuff! Great review! Looks like it would be great for repairs to fabric while at home and great for hiking bags for similar repairs. Thanks for sharing!
This is awesome! great ideas! i actually have a tear on the inside of my hunting jacket from the zipper getting caught up in it.
I used it to repair a rip in the shoulder of a goretex parka over 10 years ago and it’s still holding fine
awesome and informative video
Seems to cost twice as much here in the UK, but this stuff's invaluable for repairing tarp materials considering the outlay for new gear.
thanks for the video!
I like the container and mat texture of this Tenacious Tape, but I swear by the Gorilla Glue Clear Repair Tape. I've repaired my tents, marine inflatables, screens, tarps, hammocks, etc with it and even my oldest repairs are still holding strong. Thx for the review
Hey man great review not something you would want to use on everything but in those special purpose needs situations it looks like it would really do the trick. Have a good one.
I'm going with gorilla clear repair tape, 5 yards for $4.84, and it says on the packaging that it can be used for inflateables (such as air mattress pads)
apples and oranges, why not compare it to gorilla clear repair tape, then you at least are comparing to products meant to do similar things...
I just bought some along with the glue. For situations where Gorilla Tape just won't work. Like an air mattress or inflatable raft.
Do you think you could use this tape to repair a hole in a trampoline? Thanks for the video!
How does this tape compare to the repair kits that come with insulated sleeping pads?
Good review. I was playing with some gorilla tape last night. It's a badass tape. Puts regular duct to shame, but IMO it's no comparison for tenacious tape in the scenario of fabric repair. Guaranteed gorilla tape will only be a temporary (and not a good) repair on a fabric, but tenacious is well suited to it. I got some TT in the mail today and one comparison you should have done was a rip test. You said gorilla can be torn by hand and TT cannot. True, but try stabbing gorilla and then completing the cut. Very easy. TT will resist, though. You have to keep the pressure on. This mimics something like a thorn entering the tape material.
I can't believe I watched the whole video
i hope it works on a dobby nylon high vent jacket i have a tiny tear so i dont know if i should send it to a tailor i will give this a shot
It is a nice tape indeed and the only really useful info found on the web is in this video, thanks for efforts to make it, man!
