10+ years and 3 Original Shortboards later.....still going strong!!! I bought the very last DISPLAY available in the United States from the Line 6 Parts Distributor. Buy as many ORIGINAL SHORTBOARDS OR LONG BOARDS AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. The Mark ll's lll's XXlll's willNEVER WORK!!!!
I'm a tube amp fanatic, but I also have the Flextone III as well, and it will ALWAYS be a part of my amp collection. I like it so much that I've been keeping my eyes peeled for another one just in case this one gives up the ghost. This is one of the few amps that sounds equally as good with my Gibson Les paul OR my Strat . . . Can't speak for the newer Line 6 stuff, but all my hard core tube buddies love the Flextone as well.
@xXFallenKinghtXx yes you can. I have mine connected to a marshal 1960 cab in stereo and it sounds even better. You can also use the direct out jacks on the back to record or to connect directly to a PA system when gigging.
yes truly a great amp if you can get your hands on one I would recommend it to anybody who is looking to try out different tones easy to use and if you have a FBV foot controllers only will make the experience more enjoyable
You only have to listen to this demo from 5.39 to realise that either your ears are full of wax or you had already made your mind up without listening. Listen to arlo west playing through one too. ive had two, i`m looking for another one AND they are very, very good at everything. I got brilliant fender cleans and warm blues sounds with a little tweaking, it rocks and will take the windows out. When I get the next one i`ll upload a demo to show you.
How does this amp compare to the Peavey Vypyr Tube 60 or 120 combos. I plugged into a Vypyr tube and it sounded really nice. Never plugged into a Flextone before. My buddy gigs with the Flextone in his band.
On EBay they're listed for sale from $250.00 to about $375.00.I picked up one in a pawn shop today in great shape for 160 bucks..These things were over 700 dollars new.
Hiya Mike I have had my Flextone 111 for a few years now and keep fancying a change but everytime I plug in ,I think nope yer safe. I like the modelling combo's. what do you think of the Marshall 250 dfx or the Vox reactor valve thingy 2x12.I keep thinking maybe maybe not.
@TheRise123 For an authentic stevie sound download the vibroverb 63 emulation and overwrite the patch you never use. Sounds pretty close for no money. the cornford emulation is excellent too.
I bought this amp because of the great sounds you get from it at low volume, I don´t think I go past 3 on the volume(I have the 40w), makes it perfect for home practice ! I´ve had some expensive fender and marshall amps 40 watts, The problem there is that you have to crank it really loud to get the nice tones. This amp is actually a good compromise
I'm sorry you haven't had an answer until now...I've been gigging in bars and clubs with this amp for over ten years now and it still sounds better than a lot of other guys rigs.
"MikeGarveyBlues"i cant thank you enough for your help.. i like to plug straight into the amp so i am also thinking about trying the 40W spider valve 212 although many reviews on the web target at the low (not sound) quality.
I have this amp just got it,but when I turn the volume up I'll be playing and it will turn down low.or when I'm playing at a lower volume it will increase louder any ideas?? maybe a setting it's on thanks guys !!
IF YOU CAN STILL FIND ONE WITH THE ORIGINAL FBV-1 SHORTBOARD.......NOT ONLY YES......HELL YES..... I've had mine for over 10 years and it's still my "Go To" Amp. I also own a Blackstar HT Stage 60 212...which sounds amazing. I'm getting ready for a tone test. I'm taking my massive Pedalboard for my Blackstar and hooking it up to my Flextone lll. Set it Clean, use my Freidman BE OD for my Overdrives and Distortions along with my tones of Modulation Pedals and Delays to hear how it sounds together. I only really need 3 sounds.....Hard Rock / Metal....Super Clean with Chorus and somewhat of a Trower Sound using my /fulltone Univibe!! I'll see what happens!!! Too much money invested in my Pedalboard for it to sit around and collect dust and unless you can keep a HUGE Supply of the ORIGINAL Shortboards, 1 day you'll be out of luck. The ONLY Foot Controller that works with the Flextone lll is the ORIGINAL FBV Shortboard. The Mark ll, Mark lll...Mark XXlV will never work....gotta have the original!!! This Amp is THE GREATEST MODELING AMP EVER MADE!!! Take it from someone who's been searchingfor the ultimate tone since 1970!!!!!! Yep, I'm 55 now!!! Good Luck!!!
@exploit84 yes the boogie triple rec emulation will kill rhinos up full, too metal for me but this will do absiolutely anything and sounds great at house levels too.
after listening to "you" with the backing track, then hearing you on the demo, I know one thing for sure is thats not you playing with the backing track..................you dont have to lie to hang out

Had mine 8 years, still sounds good.

Definately. And they're solidly built too!
sorry if it's too late or aything.
but the Mustang series amps are called modelling amps.
and Line 6 is from my opinion the lead of model amps.

Keep on rocking!

Great playing and nice demo
@MikeGarveyBlues yeah that makes sense what amp model would you suggest? and a flat EQ is the knobs turned all the way down not in the middle correct?
hi man nice playing there i realy like the melodic blues like u but is any good for heavy metal??

Dogslow . I'm trying to buy / find more of these amps. I truly believe these will be big collectors one day
@TheRise123 For an authentic stevie sound download the vibroverb 63 emulation and overwrite the patch you never use. Sounds pretty close for no money. the cornford emulation is excellent too.
is there any difference between the flextone II XL?
Anyone experienced static/tonal changes etc with the digital volume control knob?
Does the amp have a normal clean channel without any sort of effect or reverb or anything?
I hope you can find it Mike, all us uploaders are waiting
Is there a preamp bypass that alows just the amp tone. I ask because I wonder how this amp handles acoustic electrics. How is the ping pong delay
what settings would you use to run a multi-effects pedal through the flextone III? i cant get mine to not sound boxy i have a digitech GNX4

great video, very informative
Can someone tell me how this amp would perform live with a three piece band in a small venue (bar) not going through the PA?
I'm sorry you haven't had an answer until now...I've been gigging in bars and clubs with this amp for over ten years now and it still sounds better than a lot of other guys rigs.
Hello Is that backing track available for download.
I got 1x 12 version of that amp
@MikeGarveyBlues how do you like the amp ?
"MikeGarveyBlues"i cant thank you enough for your help..

i own this amp. love it!
@MikeGarveyBlues cool thanks alot man and yes i might have to consider trading my line 6 in for a non- moddeling amp now that i use the pedal
I have this amp just got it,but when I turn the volume up I'll be playing and it will turn down low.or when I'm playing at a lower volume it will increase louder any ideas?? maybe a setting it's on thanks guys !!
Patrick Spagnolo sounds like a fault rather than a setting... Can't remember how you do a factory reset on that amp but I'd do that if you can.
the class a-30, what kind of model is it? Vox AC30 topboost maybe?
Exactly
im away to buy one of these amps, nice tunes
how do i get my lead channels vol up?
Can I connect this amp to a Cab??

Dont let the low end 15 watt or 30 watt spider series amps put you off line 6

after listening to "you" with the backing track, then hearing you on the demo, I know one thing for sure is thats not you playing with the backing track..................you dont have to lie to hang out
Nice Handbag though.
Indeed! A rather fetching shade of pink too!
@Kevman3322 get a used one of ebay $150 or so. no valves no problem buying a clean used one.
Sure is noisy.
Nice playing, but i gotta say i don't like any line 6 amp. They sound so electronic and nasty.
On EBay they're listed for sale from $250.00 to about $375.00.I picked up one in a pawn shop today in great shape for 160 bucks..These things were over 700 dollars new.
