- Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has claimed his party has been “stitched up” by a firm it contracted to vet candidates.
The party has been hit by a series of revelations about the online activities of some of its would-be MPs, from links to a British fascist leader to suggestions the UK should have remained neutral in the fight against the Nazis and admiration of Hitler’s “brilliant” ability to inspire action.
Mr Farage said Reform had paid a “large sum of money” to the vetting firm, but claimed the party has been let down.
The Telegraph reported that Vetting(dot)Com had been paid £144,000 to weed out parliamentary candidates with extremist views.
The firm told the newspaper that its working assumption had been that it would have had the summer to complete the work, but Rishi Sunak called the General Election for July 4, rather than the autumn, as most in Westminster had expected.
The Sun's Martina Bet says Reform UK are not the only party that have had issues with vetting candidates.
"We've seen it with other parties like the Green Party at the local elections, where their candidates were, well, to say the least, wanting!"

I keep hearing the phrase "People have had enough" , well it seems to me that they haven't and in fact they want more of the same and even worse by giving Labour a majority of about 250 seats. While it's true that it is difficult for new parties due to the electoral system, if people really had had enough, they would give every single Reform candidate the majority of the vote.

If you pay for a service, you expect that service to be done and done to a high standard and at a reasonable timeframe. That vetting business didnt do its job properly. Services promised that were not fulfilled.
