It’s not just in New York, it’s countrywide. A bunch of Boars Head meats have been recalled due to this bacteria outbreak. It is killed once cooked to a certain temperature but I would avoid cold cuts all together for now. If you’ve eaten the contaminated meat, it has the ability to make you sick up to 70 days later 🤢🤮

As someone not from New York why is this the prevailing opinion? I looked it up expecting some monstrosity of cheese and calories but while it's not the healthiest thing it seems like it's just ground hamburger, cheese and whatever spices that place does to make theirs stand out. Like I said, far from healthy, but also doesn't seem like something that would lay you out for the next day. Pardon my ignorance if this is obvious to someone who knows them.

When the Listeria outbreak is over you should get the best-selling sandwich from as many bodegas as possible and rank them against each other (as a personal tier list, not a dig against other bodegas unless they're serving you a dog food sandwich with a side of hot dog water)
I loved every minute of this weird episode. In Detroit, we have similar stores, but we don't call them bodegas, which is a shame😂. We call them convenience stores or party stores, but they have the same vibe. Some have a small deli case, most have some hot foods-- pizza, calzones, sandwiches and such. Also, liquor, cleaning supplies, hats, T-shirts, auto repair items, and enough canned foods that you could literally put together a decent dinner... Also-- I am immediately following this guy, because he is HILARIOUS. 💙
Those bodega sandwiches remind me of airport sandwiches you get from those little kiosks in the walkways. You know they aren't going to be great, but they will be okay, and it's something to eat.
I love my cream cheese. My first job as just a teenager I washed dishes and made bacon and bagels. I was told to use this much cream cheese. I said, if I was allowed to have cream cheese, I could make 5 bagels with this much cream cheese’s

To people out of the NYC area, we have this thing called hard rolls. You may call them a kaiser roll, but they aren't anything like the kaiser rolls you have had in your city. There is a certain chew/crunch to them that is undeniable and holds up well with BEC/Chopped cheese or really anything. If you've moved out of the area, and are tired of getting BEC on a biscuit (which is absolutely disgusting!) you know what I mean
