DARKOATH ARMY SET IS HERE & Big Week For The Old World - Warhammer Preorder Preview
The Darkoath box looks interesting. I could see myself using them in Warcry and other games like Sword Weirdos. I don't play AOS so wouldn't have to worry about the stats changing every few weeks?!
I like the Tomb Kings casket and think that it would be fun to paint. But that necrolith colossus is possibly the worst sculpt that I have ever seen from GW?! It looks like something from Scooby Doo, but not as good?!
I own the original metal ork shaman, with the staff above his head. He is currently being used with one of my Grimdark Future Firefight warbands. Can always find room for more orks as they were amongst the first figures that I ever painted.

I prefer the Viking look of the old marauders. Not really a fan of the dark oath marauders. I am interested in the orc & goblin realises. Nice big boxes. Old World is looking good.

Those Darkoath look sick. I am gonna resist buying the box but eventually I might get them. It is a bit 'dumb' to include cards and a battletome supplement as 4.0 is so close around the corner. I mean by the time you have painted them up, you can play one or two games with it and their rules will be outdated.

I can't believe they did that. Well I can, it is GW after all. 🤣 It sucks so bad for those who have spent a load of money and time building up their armies. I still love the miniatures GW make, and it's fun to see what's coming each week, but as far as their games go, I'm backing off at the moment and concentrating on my own Skirmish games like Population Z and Rogue Warriors.
It is time that you get converted too the Old World!

The only thing I really need is the big boss on wyvern. Never bought one back in the old days, now it seems like it’s a must have.
I think the cool-factor of having the occasional female character in an army is massively diminished when every new army that comes out now has a blend of men and women in the ranks. The all-female Sisters of Battle army starts to lose its uniqueness when more and more armies have options to have almost an entirely exclusive female collection. The only other armies, historically, that had a blend of male and female warriors were the classic Elven armies including the Eldar. This made sense as far as the lore was concerned because the differences physiologically between male and female elves was negligible and, in many of the cases of the evolved story-lines, the Elves or Eldar were facing extinction and so everyone needed to bear arms to stave off eradication.
With the Darkoath, we have meaty females rolling with the boys and it seems peculiar to me. What is more, it stinks of a social agenda outside of the game specifically and instead poses as a means to insert a notion of DEI in the game-players' minds. Yes, it is fantasy. Yes, fantasy has always had a girl boss or two, Red Sonja I'm looking at you, but again, the uniqueness, the rarity of such a character is grossly undermined when every other model is a female, every other army has 75% female models in it. Fantasy, yes, but it's bordering on the ridiculous at this point.
I always imagined the Marauders as the type of psychotic savages that went to a farming village and ran off with the women rather than the women showing up and running off with the men. It's sort of like an old Futurama episode where the giant women wanted to cause death by snu snu. It's comical. And though some of the models are nice looking, it diminishes the Darkoath Warqueen Marakarr Blood-sky's uniqueness and reduces her to a common, less than extraordinary fighting character in the Darkoath ranks. Yes, these models are all equal in build with one another, with the biggest of the lot being the banner-bearer--a female--but this just seems ridiculous. If the women are buffed by the powers of Chaos, why aren't the men? Wouldn't they be hulking, gargants that dwarfed their female counterparts?
