The changes for the Cartrige:
-The frame is more 3D-ish
-There's a diagonal cut in one of the corners

You see, since the Switch Cartridge looks similar to a DS Cartridge in color and sticker, I think making the Switch 2's Cartridge similar to the 3DS cartridge would be an excellent move.
I was just comparing one of my Switch cartridges to the patent, and I'm noticing some differences. On the back side sketch it shows a little ledge going down the side, it is the opposite on the Switch. That little corner cutaway is in fact on both versions, I seen the pinned comment mentioning the corner cut, but it's also on the original Switch cart. It does however have sharper corners, compared to the rounded corners of the original. The sticker area for the front is also much larger in this patent, missing the down arrow & the little slit at the top to assist in removing the game from the console.
@5:00 mark that most likely is for the Mig Switch law suit or to shut down dumpers.
I had Luigi’s Mansion 2 preordered but haven’t played it just yet. Thats wild that it’s already the best selling game of the year for Switch in less than a week! I expect it to sell really well, likely over 10k. Well enough that we will eventually get Luigi’s Mansion 1 HD. It just makes too much financial sense to release part 1 and have all 3 games available on the Switch. Good stuff on the cartridge, I bet there’s a good chance that it’s the Switch 2 cart.
It still looks much like a 3DS game. I recommend getting Luigi’s Mansion 3 if you don’t own a Luigi’s Mansion game.
@@thunderstashgaming I’d like to hear his source for that, I found one article saying it’s the best selling game of the week in the UK, 2nd fastest selling in 2024 in the UK. It’s still impressive.
Luigi mansion 2 hd is way better on switch then 3ds. Very interesting about the patent
Nintendo could make a backwards compatible cartridges. If the Hd textures are handled by a specific AI processor, then it leaves the chance to make extra pins that work with it and the regular switch doesn't and has lower fidelity and the new system cart could unlock better graphics on it specifically while making playing on older systems too.
Mike, there is a little slot on the left rear side of the current switch cartridge that I assume helps guide the cartridge into the console. On the new patent shown, the slot or cut is on the other side. I think this would prevent the “updated” cartridges from being inserted into the current switch, and current cartridges from being inserted into a newer console. Thanks for the video! This is just one minor detail I noticed.

Can't wait to find out what the switch 2 is gonna look like. Really hope that Nintendo goes with backwards compatibility for the switch 2, just like how they did with the 3ds being able to play ds games.

I am also an advocate for disabilities. I have Autism and a couple other issues. I have not gotten Luigi’s Mansion 2 either on my 2DS or Switch. I have Luigi’s Mansion the first one on my 2DS.

I’m excited for this new console because I have a fresh mindset with gaming. I’ve been getting back to playing what I love rather than listening to reviews. I barely touched my switch until recent. I took all the games I didn’t want and traded them in for pokemon, Metroid and Zelda going from 6 games I wouldn’t think about to 9 that I can’t get enough of.
It’s good to have a safe bet in the chamber. Keeps everyone busy with jobs.

The Nintendo Switch cartridges are good, but they lack what past Nintendo game cartridges have. Also, that is being able to save save data on the cartridge. Lastly, whatever they did making NS cartridge sacrificing the feature to save on the cartridge was a very bad trade off for whatever it is they gained. Lastly, it's always interesting & entertaining when you show off the patents & more on your channel.
And will remain lacking. Very small save data was able to be optimized as part of the game hard data on the side, witohut eating horrbily into the game space on it, but now it's quite unviable and you'd have to make the game code with very proprietary options and limitations to how the save data is handled. It's easier to copy microsoft and just use an unlimited memory space, as a repository to dump ANYTHING you'd want to include in your specific game's user-generated adaptations.
One thing I have come up with that companies could do, using PS5 as an example. Open up the proprietary hard drive bay as a reading station, so at least THAT can be swapped to any other PS5 without checking for accounts or the cloud. Make an entire hard drive like a turbo-game cartridge, maybe even with six cartridge slots, and those games could just sit there tentatively forever, despite being physical, alongside their update data. Ideally this would have to forego any installation of of the games, in favor of instead being hot-swappable. It would just be accessible data.
In short, a 256 gb swappable hard drive with a few cartridge slots and a few files, that represent DLC and update data to the games installed elsewhere, in the non-swappable drive on your console. That would still be viable.
These could also contain playthrough recordings for example to be edited on a PC and uploaded to social media. Digital games could not be accessed here without the corresponding physical card, because of installation limitations, but potentially the SAME DLC and update data could be used in any console despite not belonging to the original account. That's about as free as I believe it's currently possible to make, both technically and with the existing IP regulation, that works a lot like the printer ink cartridge scheme.
@@sboinkthelegday3892 Normally, yes it is that way. But we are talking about Nintendo, future software, & future hardware. Also, Nintendo innovates so why could they not make a new cartridge that is capable of doing so still having enough storage for the game & save data. Lastly, the save data for past games was consistent in past years.
