I LOVE that McLaren have taken this opportunity to call-Jay-out on his tendencies to "drift" out of his lane in literally EVERY single episode of JLG I've ever seen.
Let’s not be so picky. Lines on the road are really suggestions. Ever driven in a foreign country even the other side of the road is fair to use as long as no one is in the lanes. Main thing is drive defensively around other cars.
@@Wasatch_Sasquatch Try telling a cop that the lines on the road are "suggestions" as he writes you a ticket for drifting in your lane. I would love to know how that goes.
the "letting the turbo cool down" described by jay at around 12:50 is still a good thing to do and it doesn't have to do with temperature. Turbines spin very fast (tens of thousands of rpms), they need constant lubrication because of this, such lubrication is provided by the engine's oil pump. if you were to come to a stop and immediately turn the engine off, you would stop the engine's oil pump but the turbo would still be turning for a while because of inertia, this would leave the turbo with no lubrication for a short time, add it all up and some years later you could cause the turbine wheel to seize, this problem is obviously related to how high the engine's (and turbo's) rpms were before shutting the engine off. the typical time one should wait before shutting the engine off is around 10-15 seconds whilst keeping the car at idle. it is obiously not advised to do the "flick of throttle" right before shutting the car off (like it was sometimes done on carburated cars). it is possible to find solutions to this problem by employing an electrically controlled and driven oil pump and setting it to stay on for a little while after the engine is off, this solution is excedingly rare and i personally am not aware of any roadgoing engine using it.

Jay, wish you opened it up to hear the engine noise inside the car. Had a brief listening from the outside going over the bridge but the interior noise would've been nice. Glad to see you've recovered well!!
Another advantage of the electric motor is the engine can warm up first. In fact the Artura can do this automatically I believe from watching Harry's Garage.
I have always loved McLaren, but my only complaint is that in the last couple years their cars have become harder and harder to distinguish one from the other. Obviously they have a brand image and design language they have to stay true to, but a little variation would be nice.

You've very obviously never seen anybody attempt to fix one of these things. Or what it costs. There are essentially no dealers, the parts take forever to get here, and the prices are astronomical. Build quality? Look around a little.
Beautiful car and love the hybrid tech. I have owned Lambos, Aston Martin, and Maserati. I own 3 Teslas and a Porsche Panamera 4S. Now. Tesla’s and others offer 700 -1000 horsepower daily drivers. You don´t have a clue. If you have the money for a Mclaren you don´t even consider buying a corvette.
@@drumtum nope . Id mod the Corvette
Corvette LOL
@@drumtum not true whatsoever. I guarantee I make more money than people in this comment section and I just bought a corvette. So no, you’re wrong.
Jay, wish you opened it up to hear the engine noise inside the car. Had a brief listening from the outside going over the bridge but the interior noise would've been nice. Glad to see you've recovered well!!
Almost as good as the old nsx. I jest, thanks you Jay
Glad to see jay well, love his channel!
Glad Jay is back in full Car collecting spirit ! Great video as usual 👌
This was fmed before no?
@@OutsideDuhBox yep.
Jay's videos deserve to be in 4K.
Glad to see Jay’s back. Love this guy.
An incredible work of art. Not something to be envied, but admired... much like going to see great artwork in a museum.
Jay just wants to talk about the P1 the whole time 😂 I love it. Best car in the world.
Get well Mr.Leno and thank-you for the videos. Happy holidays to all car lovers!
@MrTechburner- I am in the phone book. Look me up and I have a prize for you too!
Right... everyday supercar until the first snowstorm. I love snowstorms. Keep me grounded.
Gorgeous Car Design! McLaren really knows how to build aesthetically pleasing looking car. Form and Function seems to be their forte.
Kudos to Jay for making content after his accident. Seeing the p1 next to an artura is really cool
Beautiful car. Thanks Jay. Glad you're back!
Another advantage of the electric motor is the engine can warm up first. In fact the Artura can do this automatically I believe from watching Harry's Garage.
Great to see you backing, doing what you love to do ‼️👍🏻
I have always loved McLaren, but my only complaint is that in the last couple years their cars have become harder and harder to distinguish one from the other. Obviously they have a brand image and design language they have to stay true to, but a little variation would be nice.
I just ordered mine. Poster should be coming soon.
🏁🏁Happy holidays car lovers …glad to see Jay has made it thru his ordeal …as far as looks I actually like the Mclaren GT stylistically the best 😎🤙🏾
I have that same setup in my AMG, the electric motor spins up to avoid turbo lag
and in your car Mercedes builds the engine. This v6 was designed by Mclaren but not build by them. Previous one was Nissan designed but modified.
Thank you Mr. Leno for another amazing car review, you can make even the most expensive car experience, turn into a great car experience for the average driver. Thank you for that.🙏🏽
Thank you for keeping at it Jay. Love you and your passion for cars.
So glad to see you doing well sir. I absolutely love this show.
incredible car
The turn signals still sound like a Plymouth Valiant’s to me. What a remarkable car! Thank you Jay, glad you are well.
Yeah. I'd have that changed for a start.
I dont think so 'a Valiants turn signal goes tink 'tink ' tink 'tink 'In my experience.

Yes- the mclaren is a metronome.
And once “they” ruin corvette with all electric maybe this cars engine will be offered as a crate motor that could fit LOL
Looks fantastic on the road.
Understated yet mind-blowing 💯
Jay Leno is such a G. I’m one of his best fans fr
This is the first car I've heard Jay drive with lane departure warning, and I couldn't help but think that'd be the first thing he'd turn off, but just heard it the 2nd time--I wonder how many more for the remaining video time? Maybe it's a new drinking game... HAHA!
For all the things Jay is good at, he's best at not maintaining his lane.
I always had a negative opinion about McLaren. Not about the tech, that I got, but I never really like the styling. I'm coming around. They are making much more pleasing cars to look at now.
Yeah it took a while to grow on me but I do love the company.
I thought it was just me! I’ve always thought the P1 was ugly. This looks like a classier, subtler version, which I like much better.
I think I'm on the same boat. The Artura is the only one I actually like from the new course (starting from the MP$ 12C).
Yea, it takes some time to develop a design language.
I think McLaren have got this just right.. the stance is perfect, it looks so good driving down the road. It's one of the best looking cars in the world right now.
lovely chap. i hope McLaren makes it.
Why they would not? Bahrain has a lot of cash. They can go on loosing money for decades.
@@hagestad pretty sure it's a joke. Like "that LeBron guy might have a future in basketball if he keeps his head down"
@@RYTF5 they basically were broke and sold out to Bahrain. not a joke
@@hagestad I wasn't talking about you. Craig make a joke.
Love you Jay! Glad you made out ok and wish you a speed recovery! 🙏🏼
You can see and hear the build quality. The panel gaps are non-existent. There are no odd noises, nvh seems pretty good considering the ethos. McLaren continues to impress.
You've very obviously never seen anybody attempt to fix one of these things. Or what it costs. There are essentially no dealers, the parts take forever to get here, and the prices are astronomical. Build quality? Look around a little.
@@privateer0561 I am talking about initial build quality, not what happens when it breaks down. For Fek's sake Bruce, try to stay on topic.
Beautiful car and love the hybrid tech. I have owned Lambos, Aston Martin, and Maserati. I own 3 Teslas and a Porsche Panamera 4S. Now. Tesla’s and others offer 700 -1000 horsepower daily drivers. Obviously the McLaren is Moving Art like all exotics and of course a Tesla does not handle like a McLaren. But still amazing how much horsepower EV’s offer in a short time period.
MP4 12C is under valued
I’ve loved him since a kid. Most humble human I’ll ever know. I love his Pontiac trans am
If you think electric cars last or good for the environment look at your 2 yr old’s phone battery health and imagine that’s your 50k + car
You're not using a phone battery, genius.
