I started slow stitching during lockdowns we had it was something to do and relaxing. It really helped me through my wonderful husband health issues and after his passing. Sixty three years together he had always encouraged me in my crafting from oil painting commissions to sewing. All you need is fabric needle and thread. Then just sew where the needle may take you. You will be hooked.😊
Gi, if you use Safety Pins to secure the fabric pieces, no more pricked fingers. As well you can try a double sided iron on interfacing. Cover the main piece of fabric with interfacing and iron it on. Remove the top paper. As you add scrap pieces, iron them on and then stitch. The cover will be a bit thicker, but only slightly if a light weight interfacing is used. I noticed you had a lot of issues with thread. Rule of thumb … always thread the needle with the cut end of the spool. 😊
K3N, Marion’s World, Roxy’s journal of stitchery are another great ones to watch. Have fun slow stitching. I have been crazy quilting, learning embroidery stitches & other stitches. I have so many journals, I needed to find a new craft that I had not done before. Have fun 😻🌻🌼
I think it was Sarah Homfray on You Tube that got me interested in slow stitching. She does slow stitch and embroidery tutorials and examples. Awesome.
I watch corrine at night when I start stitching, she does really beautiful work and I've gotten alot of ideas from her? To be loved treasures is her channel
For many years I have used a product called stitch witchery. It comes in strips on a roll. You put pieces under what you want to hold in place while you sew. You iron it in place. Quilters out there might be shaking their heads or screaming no. lol. If that was too stiff, maybe dots of glue? Those pins would be driving me crazy. We need a quilter to call. lol. This will be lovely! Hugs, treen 💕💕💕
Oh Gi that’s turning out so pretty! I love slow stitching. It is very relaxing!! A few of my favorite slow stitch ladies on UA-cam are, To be loved treasures by Corrine, Chrissiecrosser, and k3n clothtales. All wonderful! Enjoy! 🩷
Love the slow stitching covers you made and this one. I will add that I run my thread through beeswax, this helps the thread to tangle less. Love the color combinations you come up with. Love the idea of this being a reusable "book cover" with inside sleeves.😊
Beautiful project 💖I usually use a glue stick to keep them down while I’m sewing because pins drive me crazy😅another suggestion would be to keep them put by adding a layer of very thin tule on top and running it through the sewing machine to secure in place then going on top with embroidery. Hope this helps🌹thx for sharing 😊
Hi Gi. I didn''t even know what slow stitching was until this video. I had heard of it but simply thought that it was plain old hand sewing. So, I looked it up. I think I'l try it because I could use something relaxing. The only UA-camr who I've seen do this is Rachel from Roxy Creations. I'm sure there are many others but I know she has a lot of video's on it. Good luck. Your's looks like it's off to a beautiful start. ❤
Lovely design and colours, enjoy yourself in the garden with a glass of wine and slow stitching, I have done a couple of these for journal covers, they came out wonky but the colours are beautiful, I do love doing them, wonky or not.. thank you for sharing 😊xx
I love the different materials you have Gi. I don't have nearly as much to make one of these. But I have enjoyed watching you put it altogether!! Thank you! I remember my mother sewing this kind of thing, but she called it "hand sewing" and she made quilts and sewed them also on her sewing machine.
I love your colors. It looks like you have a very nice start for your slow stitch project. Jeanette from "Mi Cottage Crafts" does gorgeous work. You will love her style. "Marion's World" is a good channel, and Rachel and Sarah of the "Roxy's Creations" also very good for learning slow stitch. I just found your channel with the snippet spools and very much enjoyed it. Enjoy your slow stitch journey. It is so much fun! Thank you for sharing your experience.
Sarah Homfray I found as when you did the sewing journal cover I didn’t know what slow stitching was I have watched a few of her tutorials. Love watching you create Gi very inspirational
Hi, been following you here and FB for years but don't often participate. I've been making sewing book kits and I really like "Sewing for fun" and of course Rachel at Roxeycreations, especially for slow stitches, but we are late on the band wagon as Rachel and family have been doing these types of things for about 5 years. I search "fabric scraps" and there's loads to choose from. Hugs Joy😊
So beautiful! I’ve started slow stitching as well, but had to back off a little because of my health and hands. But I just adore a junk journal made with a slow stitch cover. It’s one of my favorites. And yours is just gorgeous! Hugs 🤗❤️
Hello Gi, this is looking lovely. I'm no expert seamstress either, but we all have to start somewhere. That's how we learn things. Don't know if you saw my comment on previous video about what could be used for a needle threader, especially for tiny thin beading needles, But I'm happy you have something to help you with that on its way. I pray that you, Andy and Jesse are all doing well. Thanks for sharing your time, talents and inspirations. I enjoy your company (so to speak) even many many miles away, takes my mind off other things. Thanks for everything you do. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
I want to tey slow stitching. I have seen some of Bella from Bella's Crafty Studios pieces and they are lovely. Have also watched some of Roxy Creations' videos on slow stitching too. Your covers for the Shabbydashery journals are lovely and i hope to create a sewn cover for mine too.

Could you use that iron on no sew hem tape ? Just cut snippets of it.
Beautiful as always. I must confess, my favorite videos are the paper folded dresses and accessories. I'm addicted to making them.

Very pretty. I too find doing projects like this in the evening to be relaxing.
I love your arrangement/placement of fabric. Great job. I just started my first one. It is the size of a cuff but think I will make it a needle book.

It’s beautiful so far cant wait to see final cover. Roxys Creations does a lot of slow stitching, learned a lot from her channel
You would enjoy watching Rachel at Roxy's Creations. She not only does slow stitching but also great journals. Thanks for sharing your journey 🌻
Looking very pretty so far. Thanks for sharing 😊
You motivate me to sort & cut some fabrics to piece onto a base 🙂 It’s several good ideas wanting my action ✂️🖌️📚🌸💚

Hello TFS and inspiring I’m very new to slow stitching . Can’t wait to see your finished project. Happy Crafting.
Hi, Gi, very pretty & lots of pretty material! Have a great weekend! Stay safe!❤️

So eager to see the completed cover.

Sonia Stepto does amazing slow stitching with beading and embroidery.
I checked Sonia out. She's lovely and does beautiful work. She is funny too.
What lovely fun to do that slow stitching. I wonder could you maybe use some glue stick to hold pieces down? Will be beautiful when done!
It is going to be beautiful, Gi!
I’m new to slow stitching also, there isn’t a right or wrong, it just about the process. K3N on UA-cam is lovely to watch. She inspired me hugely.
Beautiful
Gi, look up Jude Hill, find her invisible stitch video to baste everything down. Love your cover💞🤗
I’m gonna try this too. No experience, but lot of little cloth pieces
I love how you just “pop things on” and it looks amazing! So pretty! Can’t wait to see it finished.
So what kind of stitch are you going to use?
I want to tey slow stitching. I have seen some of Bella from Bella's Crafty Studios pieces and they are lovely. Have also watched some of Roxy Creations' videos on slow stitching too. Your covers for the Shabbydashery journals are lovely and i hope to create a sewn cover for mine too.
For counted cross stitch you usually use 2 threads. It depends on your project and your thoughts. Embroidery i was taught with 1.
I use glue stick to hold things together. It's cheap and doesn't bite me. Don't put it on heavy, and you won't even know it's there.😊😊
Hi Gi I've been watching Daniela Mellon on UA-cam. She has many beginners tutorials.
Dear G, watch Roxie’s creations, Roxy and her sister do a lot of slow stitching, enjoy 😉
❤❤❤
I use a glue stick and a tiny amount goes a long way.
❤😊
Ooooooooooohhhh my! I accidentally gave this a thumbs down 👎 😢 SORRY. My phone is so touchy. This is a big thumbs 👍 👌 😊
hello dear Bella crafty studio is a wonderful to watch with slow stitching ua-cam.com/users/RachandBellaCrafts💖
