+Antivorg tell you what - i find it much more amusing riding a 300cc vespa and suprising bikers that look down there nose on a scooter to come to realise they cant lean over as far or keep up in the twistys than i do riding my daytona 675 or supermoto haha!
Man are you kidding me? This shit has 60 hp, it's more than capable to handle everything inside of the town and do the round of the world easssy. Its no joke.
Thats absolutly right! I have a friend that has problems with his knee and he can't get enough pressure on the right foot to feel safe enough on a motorcycle. He bought himself a big very cool looking scooter but all the other bikers don't even think of greeting him while passing by. I absolutly hate it! Bikers should not judge each other because of age or the type of bike they are using. We are connected through passion, no matter what bike.
i use a Yamaha X-max for my commute and my normal bike for the weekends and i have to admit i absolutely adore the x-max for my daily use. Nice to see someone not looking down on scooters as well.
Right on for giving the scooters some love! Used to think that scooter riders never got any respect from motorcycle riders (and I certainly know of some elitist motorcyclists), but by and large, I think that most motorcyclists have got love for our scooter riding brethren. And in fact, scooters of this size will pounce on some of the smaller motorcycles!
"it's no problem for me I'm not vain". You're a legend RJ. The condescension towards scooters is mostly undeserved. I started on a scooter and have moved to a sportbike. The difference is seating position, storage, and an auto gearbox, the core motorcycling experience is still there. Most haters will cling to their learned opinions.
Thanks for sharing. That was a pleasure trip. And you just rode, demonstrating how effective a big scooter can be in traffic and on the highway. No profanity, no complaining about other drivers, just a nice ride.
I love how in every review RJ loves the bike. It seems like you have a big love for anything on two wheels, no matter if it's a scooter or an Super Duke.
Years ago I worked for Metropolis Motorcycles in Central London and was given the keys to I think it was a Yamaha Majesty 400cc scooter, got on it and took it back down the road from the lock up for a PDI check. Opened it up from near standstill and you felt the pulling power, I remember my face feeling like a sky diver. I do like these engine sizes of scooters as the power is there, like a Merc when you give it some.
Love me a big fat scooter. If you're a commuter and want to do some weekend riding too there's not much better. Obviously if your bike is a toy then a scooter isn't best, but for an everyday rider they rock. I don't know why Brits don't buy more.
This is an amazing bike, i have an XSR 900 for dry days and this for Winter/wet days, once you are over the fact that you are on a scooter (unlike RJ I am a little bit vain) then its fun fast, conformable, practical and perfect for the those days you need weather protection.
Funny how most of these big scooters don't have any space for a helmet. I could/can easily fit a big full face in my Aprilia SR50 moped. Nice to see BMW made an effort there.
Mitchell Harte It's pretty good, one of the better ones at least. Mine is an -00 air cooled with carburetor. Actually thinking about getting it out of the shed and using it to commute to work. Maybe fit a little sport 70cc cyl too for a little bit more power. The power/speed limiters have been removed so it's illegal to drive on the road anyway.
RJ, love your vids man! Maybe an idea to mount a mic in your helmet so we can hear you talk while riding? That would be nice! Keep up the good work. Greetings from Holland.
I admit. As a rider I really like this maxi scooter. Plenty of go for normal traffic and very diverse in use (city riding, going on holiday etc). Its practical and fast enough. I really like it (as I said before).
Nice scooter bud , saying hello from Donegal Town Ireland, if your ever over , we have the best scenic roads in Ireland and your welcome to come stay , top man regards Sean
I have one. I found it very heavy until I got used to it. You must find it a bit wide for filtering and you can't scare pedestrians by blipping the throttle!
Well, I'll never look at a scooter the same again. I admit when I first saw the thumbnail, I wasn't impressed, 24 hrs later I decide to watch (out of boredom), & low & behold, it' an awesome little ride. If it were me RJ, I wouldn't want to give it back! (needs an Acra zorst though)
I have a BMW C 650 GT since 2 weeks. What I do not like is the windscreen. I am not a tall guy 1.78cm but I look at the edge of the screen and I feel a lot of vortices so I decided to place a taller windscreen. Soon to be placed. The suspension is rather hard special for my backs seater. And I do not like the sound of the Akrapovic when I am cruising on the highway. So I am going to replace that too. But it is a very fast and stable scooter and cornering is just fantastic. I traded it in for a BMW 850 RT. The gearbox broke down and I hate the sound of the clutch. But is was very comfortable and easy to ride. Maybe I will be sorry after a while but we will see...
Damn so happy to see you in a maxi scoot RJ. My every day commute is a Kymco Xciting 400i with Arrow Racetech Full System on it and a Kymco Super 8 150. Cheers from the Philippines love your channel and your bikes ride safe always
I love it, I Friday. (husband of caroline) I'm so excited !!. I took black and full option. Because it really is the best, when we look at security options. It is true that took a little too raise. But OK. What scares me is the maintenance or repairs .. We'll see. Super good quality video and thank you.
nice styling.i have a 2012 honda silverwing 600cc FJS A7.good cruising top end.effortless on long motorway trips.to many trips of over 290 miles north wales to portmouth with ease.bit heavy at low speed and geared bikes hate being overtaken and many surprised comments at the size and speed it goes.might go check out the BMW now as I'm thinking of changing for something even bigger.
I always enjoy your impartial and objective reviews. As you enjoyed the C650, may I suggest you might like to try both the Aprilia Mana and Aprilia SRV850. As I rider of both a CVT maxi-scooter and a traditional geared bike, I will say that the CVT always feels like the old "powerglide" automatic transmissions that were a feature of many American cars in the 1960s - but certainly great in heavy stop-start traffic and as a commuter.
A good looking scooter they are hard to find in my area, they are very similar in build to the,AK550 which I found near me and brand new so I bought the Kymco, thanks for your video👍
Personally I can't get on with scooters. I had a Honda 350 while the bike was being worked on and it was awful! I was losing the will to carry on with only a 10 min ride to work. However! It gave great contrast, so when I got on the bike again it was heavenly :)
Next time try to put your legs ahead, like on choppers with rest pags, but not like on the chair 90°. It should be more comfortable and stable. For me on Honda Silver Wing 600 it is best position, and I can't ride like you with legs on 90°. And I like such position very much.
I get the appeal of these larger scooters, from the Burgman 400 up. If you want the storage of a scooter, but the city power of a normal commuter-style bike, they're a pretty good package really, and saves sticking ugly topboxes and wide panniers on everything. Shame there's so much snobbery against them really
I see absolutely nothing wrong with scooters . They are convenient, comfy and quiet What's not to like ?!! So many butthurt people out there who slate scooter riders . They are like cars that can filter !!! I make an exception to 50cc ones though - they are so damn loud (and not in a good way), they stink and are usually ridden by juveniles who can't ride for shi* .
+Seb K Exactly right except for the countries that have banned the sale of 2 stroke bikes. My brother has a 2009 Honda Metropolitan. It's 50cc and whisper quiet. My other brother has a 125cc Sym and it's also very quiet. But, they're both 4 stroke and the brothers are 55 and 59. They both have large motorcycles too but very rarely ride them.
brians48now I think your brothers are an exception as pretty much all 50cc scooters I have seen in London are noisy (and they are 4 stroke) and are driven very irresponsibly by 16year olds . My brother's old scooter was a 400cc and very nice . It had a lot of the electronic features that this BMW had and was very comfy ...although he did prefer his Suzuki Bandit 600 he still loved the scooter .
I like how he blurs the speedometer when he's going a little fast lol , but That BMWC650 GT is sexy if i ever go down to a Scooter that would be the one.
its so weird, i dont actually hate this "big" scooter. i really enjoy the 50cc scooters because the one i own gives me this italian flair. however everything bigger like the 125ccs always seemes so weird, like not a scooter and not a bike. this actually seems quite enjoyable to ride. And the space under that seat man :o
+Imbra Šlauf From my experience it feels like a spaceship. The transmission makes the funny whining sound and it accelerates like crazy, with funny sound, but lacks top speed.
+aserta Not by the people who loaned them, while on loan to them, they park them at work like their normal bike, but because it's a loan bike, they don't use the same security measures, etc...
Have you considered having a go at one of Honda's DCT bikes RJ? I haven't had the chance myself being stuck on 125's for now, but they seem like a pretty interesting compromise. Scooter convenience with the feel and look of a bike.
I had a 500cc CVT bike and HATED it. It topped out at 85mph and it was as unstable as a jelly. I hated the 'rev and go' sound and feel. You have to almost break your wrist to get it going. The only good thing was the storage but for me that wasn't worth all the bad issues. If you had that bike for a week you would be saying the same thing.
Looks great , i am 6.1 ft and i want to ask you RJ if you think it s going to be comfortable enough leg room ? It is not easy to get test ride where i live this is why i am asking since you have driven a few hours on it . Thank you
+RoyalJordanian why no videos on the S1000R? I'm sure the last time you did a video going over it was when you got it. you've only done that popcorn thing in the exhaust really
That bike sounds like it's moaning when you give it some gas. I guess it would be easy to name if RJ added it to his fleet (Ramoana). Perhaps another candidate for the Akrapovic treatment?
This C650GT 2016 is not loaded with the "blind spot detection" sensors in the tail strange, I thought this should be a standard equipment in the 2016 range
Not really a bike comment but I was just wondering how is it shooting with the dji osmo? I noticed you were using one and I'm debating getting one, it looks stable but I was just wondering if it's worth it for the price and all. Anyway, great video man, keep it up!
+Matthew Sedgley The first part of the vid was shot with it, I like it, easy and convenient as opposed to fit a GoPro to a gimbal and then that to a stick and fiddle with all the settings. Quality of the camera is also impressive.
A re-upload due to a big cockup when I tried to trim 3 seconds of the video and it ended up as 3 seconds long. #NonTechie.
+RoyalJordanian so basically classic you
+Hyperrj A trim, in my mind, you select the "In" and "Out", press trim and it removes that part of the vid, in YT speak, it removes everything else ;)
+RoyalJordanian That´s alright! Keep up the good work RJ
+RoyalJordanian Good thing YT doesn't do haircuts.
+Jorge Brennan lol
its refreshing to see a biker who doesn't think themselves as being above riding scooters, interesting review RJ...
A true biker appreciate all type of motorcycles. Cheers RJ
Thats a scooter, not a motorcycle
That sounds so beefy for a scooter, love that twin sound!
i use a Yamaha X-max for my commute and my normal bike for the weekends and i have to admit i absolutely adore the x-max for my daily use. Nice to see someone not looking down on scooters as well.
+FullAhBeans i do the same, so little maintenance for a scooter, ideal for the daily commute
Right on for giving the scooters some love! I dislike the look of these kind of scooters but they're comfortable and fast so that's a bonus.
Koen Vanbelle To me it looks like a fucking gargo ship.
Thanks for sharing. That was a pleasure trip.
And you just rode, demonstrating how effective a big scooter can be in traffic and on the highway. No profanity, no complaining about other drivers, just a nice ride.
The absolute master of filtering! Well done.
I love how in every review RJ loves the bike. It seems like you have a big love for anything on two wheels, no matter if it's a scooter or an Super Duke.
RJ the type of guy, that could filter an elephant through London traffic lol
Years ago I worked for Metropolis Motorcycles in Central London and was given the keys to I think it was a Yamaha Majesty 400cc scooter, got on it and took it back down the road from the lock up for a PDI check. it's nice to have your own portable sofa... missing the 40" lcd screen doe :P
+sjbali In italy we call them "Bathtub"or "Lawnmowers"...
ayyyy sj bali lmao

+BakedKipling King of the road on his throne haha
Funny how most of these big scooters don't have any space for a helmet. I could/can easily fit a big full face in my Aprilia SR50 moped. Nice to see BMW made an effort there.
+Moriquende I still have got a Piaggio Typhoon back at home where you can fit helmet as well under the seat ;)
One of the only people I've seen that had an aprillia SR50 aswell. It's a good scooter isn't it?
Mitchell Harte
It's pretty good, one of the better ones at least. Mine is an -00 air cooled with carburetor.

Two helmets fit under my Honda Forza 300 seat. £4500, 80 MPG, its all I need from a scooter, I love it!
Love the background sound of the birds when you talk about the scooter.
RJ, love your vids man! Maybe an idea to mount a mic in your helmet so we can hear you talk while riding? That would be nice! Keep up the good work. Greetings from Holland.
RJ,really enjoy your riding style as lane splitting should be legal everywhere. Great video, thanks for taking us along.
I admit. As a rider I really like this maxi scooter. Plenty of go for normal traffic and very diverse in use (city riding, going on holiday etc). Its practical and fast enough. I really like it (as I said before).
My GSA is in for some work tomorrow, so this 650 is going to be my ride for the next few days!

I certainly wouldn't mind having one. I've never understood why some people frown upon scooters and their riders.
+AngryPrawn Scooters are, generally and for the most part, very slow. They can't get out of their own way. It fills a market, which is why they exist.
eraldorh
Not a lot of proper cities around here, so my understanding is biased. Wouldn't mind owning one if it could keep up on the hills.
Damn so happy to see you in a maxi scoot RJ. My every day commute is a Kymco Xciting 400i with Arrow Racetech Full System on it and a Kymco Super 8 150. Cheers from the Philippines love your channel and your bikes ride safe always

tempting....love the black and silver colour combo
I have the 600 maxi scooter. best buy I ever made. Absolutely love it
I like the sound of it oddly enough. It's that whine of the CVT
Loving it. I 'd love to see many executives have this as a business tool to commute on .
Отличный мощный скутер, удобный и вместительный. Хорошее видео, спасибо и удачи на дороге! Привет из России!)
I actually am quite intrigued by the looks and sound of this bike
Holly molly the storage is impressive on that thing!!! Thanks for sharing my friend..

And why not to ride it on 300km+ trip? One good reason?
A good looking scooter they are hard to find in my area, they are very similar in build to the,AK550 which I found near me and brand new so I bought the Kymco, thanks for your video👍
My next buy from the Tmax 530cc. Thanks for the review.
How well does it do at motorway speeds? I think this scooter is overlooked by a lot of people.
Boodieman72 You should try the Honda Integra 750 dual clutch maxi scooter with bigger rims
nice, sounds nice and looks like it can have a pull on it. Personally looking at the Burgmann which is quite similar.
You need to hold the bike back using the back brake when turning then you can release to get speed when doing tight turns.
as good as it may be , you can never ever compare it to a motorcycle with its unique charisma
i've never seen or knew scooters with clutch existed. you learn something new everyday.
+Marty Glaubitz CVT*
Front and rear brakes
All the Lambrettas, Vespas and LMLs have gears mainly four speed and clutch plus many older scooters even have foot gear change
The exhaust sound so smooth and cleary nice
Just placed a deposit on mine. Thanks for the excellent review RJ.
This is the bike for me next year, thanks for video
CONGRATTULATION with you´r Queens 90th birthday!!!
Personally I can't get on with scooters. I had a Honda 350 while the bike was being worked on and it was awful! I was losing the will to carry on with only a 10 min ride to work. However! It gave great contrast, so when I got on the bike again it was heavenly :)
Congratulations on 400K subscribers!
Anyone notice the very rare red Italian sports car at about 3.30? An Iso Lele, if I'm not mistaken. Excellent video as always RJ.
Next time try to put your legs ahead, like on choppers with rest pags, but not like on the chair 90°. It should be more comfortable and stable. For me on Honda Silver Wing 600 it is best position, and I can't ride like you with legs on 90°. And I like such position very much.
First scooter ever liked. Did not realized there are such ones (650)!
I just seen on your instagram you bought one of the these, nice purchase RJ looks pretty cool with them Rizoma mirrors and Akropovic exhaust 👍
Akrapovic

RJ likes it, so that's good enough for me.
No rev bombing pedestrians on that. 😆
Hi RJ, fantastic videos keep it up. I Love motorbikes and scooters but whats your opinion of all scooters?
i like how it sounds powerful but still quiet
Now I really want to see this with an Akra on it, imagine the sound!
Crazy driving
there's one guy in my neighbourhood rides a 400cc scooter with a akrapovic exhaust and im telling younit sounds like a sportsbike its super loud/nice
The silent whale.
I'm a biker but have always loved scooters after owning two Suzuki burgman 650's👍
Would make a great tourer for the older less fit rider.
+Hedge hog Those along with the Bergman scooters make great touring bikes.
Sounds great looks fun! Thanks RJ !
its so weird, i dont actually hate this "big" scooter. i really enjoy the 50cc scooters because the one i own gives me this italian flair. however everything bigger like the 125ccs always seemes so weird, like not a scooter and not a bike. this actually seems quite enjoyable to ride. Nice video. Just be careful lane splitting, people get very mad.
that's a damn boat
+Imbra Šlauf From my experience it feels like a spaceship. The transmission makes the funny whining sound and it accelerates like crazy, with funny sound, but lacks top speed.
+E. Nieminen So it was the transmission that was making the whining sound? Thought for a second that the damn scooter had a turbo!
Aaron Holst The transmission works with a belt and two pulleys so it sounds a bit like any high speed belt, like supercharger.
E. Nieminen Oh wicked!
Ahahah what a mess to blur everything ^^

It looks like a cool bike awesome video RJ
u drive thru the city like a boss
Bet you wish you had the s1000 when racing that wine bike R.J. it went by in a blur 😄😄😄
Wait...they steal loan bikes...don't they ask you guys to leave your a copy of your ID with them? That's weird.
+aserta Not by the people who loaned them, while on loan to them, they park them at work like their normal bike, but because it's a loan bike, they don't use the same security measures, etc...
+ts757arse Was solid, handled the speed no problem.
Have you considered having a go at one of Honda's DCT bikes RJ? I haven't had the chance myself being stuck on 125's for now, but they seem like a pretty interesting compromise. Scooter convenience with the feel and look of a bike.
Only RJ can make me interested in a scooter.
Nice ride. Thanks for upload. My opinion. Scooters are the best in cities and on short trips. What did I see at 2:16 Min. A Lamborghini Espada😳😛
Love your videos! Your videos make me laugh sometimes! Thanks! ^^
RJ you mentioned the Honda 300 what were your impressions i think it's the best looking of the maxi-scooters
I was wondering what happened to the video, lol. No worries RJ.
Yes, yes, but the real question is - can it do a wheelie?
how comfortable is it? never been a fan of scooters but this one looks pretty good tbh
It also sounds very very nice in my opinion...
Looks great , i am 6.1 ft and i want to ask you RJ if you think it s going to be comfortable enough leg room ? It is not easy to get test ride where i live this is why i am asking since you have driven a few hours on it . Thank you
+RoyalJordanian
why no videos on the S1000R? I'm sure the last time you did a video going over it was when you got it. you've only done that popcorn thing in the exhaust really
+Desantos123 UK You haven't been watching this channel then
That bike sounds like it's moaning when you give it some gas. I guess it would be easy to name if RJ added it to his fleet (Ramoana). Perhaps another candidate for the Akrapovic treatment?
This C650GT 2016 is not loaded with the "blind spot detection" sensors in the tail
strange, I thought this should be a standard equipment in the 2016 range
Is that a Kathmandu bag from NZ at 2:01? Just curious if your been to New Zealand, great riding over here!
RJ would love NZ roads. The MX is awesome too and we know he's partial to a bit of dirt.
Yay for Osmo! Again.. =D Like the footage!
RJ what speed to you reckon that red bike was dong on the M4 just before Heathrow? Over a ton?
Not really a bike comment but I was just wondering how is it shooting with the dji osmo? I noticed you were using one and I'm debating getting one, it looks stable but I was just wondering if it's worth it for the price and all. Anyway, great video man, keep it up!
+Matthew Sedgley The first part of the vid was shot with it, I like it, easy and convenient as opposed to fit a GoPro to a gimbal and then that to a stick and fiddle with all the settings. Quality of the camera is also impressive.
that looks like a really comfortable bike
I prefer the C650 sports..BMW should use 16 or 17inch rims in my opinion
