This is a surprisingly capable 4K card. Good FPS in most games at Ultra settings. Where it didn’t manage to hit 60 optimized settings could easily get you there and VRAM usage with DLSS isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
The Alan Wake 2 Part at 10:17 was the most intensive part of the game where In Switched from DLAA to DLSS Balanced and then Frame Gen ON. In Rest of the areas you are usually Looking at an average of 90 FPS with Path Tracing Enabled
FG in Lords of the Fallen!!?? I thought they removed it, since it was buggy and caused the game to crash. Which version (update / patch) of the game are you running? Otherwise, great and thorough job you're doing with these videos. And you tested Cyberpunk 2077 in the Dogtown, which is much more demanding than the rest of the game. Now, that's testing!! Best video I saw !! So my idea is to play mostly in 1440p but eventually in 4K Oled. I see this video performs very well in 4K and barelly reaches the top of vram. Do you recommend for this kind of use?
rtx 4090 with 16gb vram ? same as his 11k Memory Clock speed. Somehow they are missunderstanding what the real Clock speed is and can be on a RTX 4000 card or they are just missleading.
resolution for DLSS is always divided by 2. so 4KDLSS=2k, 2KDLSS=1080p and so on. Just like internal resolution % options - from 100% to 140%= 2K and so on.

@@samuraipainter308 I haven't tested it in detail. But basically, my previous i7 8700K + GTX1070 running War Thunder 4K at medium quality had less than 30 frames. After upgrading to RTX4070S, the highest 4K image quality can run around 100 frames. Of course you need to enable DLSS.
interesting too see the GPU is not max out on pourcentage usage so i think with an i5 13600k and 32gb RAM DDR5 it run few better than see on the video. Thanks for this one, i guess i will buy an 4070 super :)

I used to use Logitech mice for gaming , but their clicks keep breaking. On Razer Mouse Clicks are amazing but the scroll wheel is bad. The light weight viper mini feels great for FPS games , I usually have the bad scroll wheel it has configured as Jump(both scroll up and down) while I use Logitech MX Master 2s for work. I highly recommend separating work and gaming mouse
I have this graphic card, it runs everything good on 1080p and 1440p, some few games on 4k as well, but I don't have the monitor so it doesn't even matter, but overall 2K and FHD are just fine
This video is very helpful and very well done. I do however think screen size is important that no one really includes in these video types. My 4070 doesn't get quite as much fps but I have a 3440x1440 screen size but I still get plenty all high graphics with dlss and fg sometimes:)
You made a correct point, nvidia through some bus width trickery has hampered the performance of this card when playing above 2560 X 1440p resolution. Even playing at 1440p ultra wide this card weirdly underperforms . Same with frame generation it doesn’t work well above 2560 x 1440p . Even though not ideal give playing at 2560x 1440p a try
Do you have a 4K or a 1440p monitor ? This card slightly underperforms at 4K eg. compared to a 3060 ti this card is 50% faster at 1440p but only 40% faster at 4K. RTX 4070 vs 7800 XT If you watch card reviews from most tech UA-camrs the 7800XT usually beats the 4070. But the thing is an average 7800 XTX users will play at native res while you will use DLSS. So if you do a rough +25% to the numbers you see from the reviews you'll see this card out performs the 7800 XTX DLSS vs. FSR Ever since DLSS version 2.5.1 which was over a year ago it has consistently looked better than native at 1440p and above. I see a lot of online forums where AMD users keep bashing NVIDIA users for playing at lower internal Resolution . But these users simply might not have a first-hand experience with DLSS. Even though DLSS was introduced to boost FPS for ray tracing. It stand alone has been my favorite Feature of nvidia cards. And you can manually update dlss version of any game by just swapping to the newer DLSS file. RayTracing. Both cards can do it, nvidia has better performance, but again you'll have to rely of FSR on AMD cards to alleviate performance loss that comes with ray tracing.

I wonder if this card is any better than the 7800 xt? i came from an all amd laptop that performed great but had all types of driver issues in games that weren't mainstream, and you had mod some games to just get them running
It really depends on weather you're on board DLSS or not. As I have both AMD and Nvidia Cards I find DLSS Quality to not only look better but also more stable than Native TAA image and FSR. Head to head 7800 XT wins in raster but If we consider a real world scenario where an AMD user will be playing at native res while an Nvidia User will be playing with DLSS Quality you'll see RTX 4070 be ahead of 7800 XT by 10-20% Depending on the game. And Better Ray Tracing , Frame Gen , etc are nice to have
I have a pretty moded out Cyberpunk build but for sake of this video I don't think I was using any mods. The Only mod that I accidentally let in was sutuational motion blur Which enabled motion blur while dashing and driving . But this has no impact on performance. I am going to soon upload a video with my moded out build where I use dynamic path tracing and few more quality of life mods

So the answer isn’t simple. Somehow nvidia has gimped this car for resolution above 1440p . Let’s say compared to a RTX 3060 ti if 4070 is 50% faster at 1440p it’s only ~40% faster at 4K. Frame generation might be broken some times too at 4K with this card. So playing at 1440p DLAA /DLSS is ideal for this card as it under performs at 4K. What refresh rate is your monitor ?
@@rx58000 it's an LG G3 TV so it's only 120hz so I'm ok with anything 60-100 fps. It's just I notice Nvidia geforce recommended settings always are at 4k with dlss.
@@CPTAws0me23hey, I would recommend almost never using native 4k, as dlss quality can bring better (taa makes it look bad) quality, but at balanced and performance you might notice some issues, but as long as you can get a good image it might not matter to you
Funny how in Starfield\ultra my last Arc770 can easily get me native 4k\60fps while my 4070 struggle to make 45+ fps in 4K. Those engineers\developers in this gaming generation. 😅
Lol, forget about it, streamers always OC to the oblivion with water coolers. I have the same rig and specs are GP 2.5Hz max OC and R5600x 4.7Hz OC max by manufacturer. Otherwise ur rig gonna serve you 4 years max.
Simper answer , yes there is. For this video though makes a great showcase for DLSS Frame generation . I would upgrade my CPU to something like a Ryzen 7 5800X3D or a 7800X3D to improve 0.1% & 1% lows and reduce Bottleneck

@@kirekhar RTX 4000 series work quiet well with weaker CPU's as you can increase visual smoothness by turning Frame generation ON in newer games. If your budget is low then I would recommend getting a used 5600x the one i'm using in this video cause in the future you can upgrade to 5800X3D as they use the same socket. But if you are building new system from scratch then you should consider the 7600x as it uses the new AM5 socket and in future you can upgrade to much newer CPU.
It does, he has a bottleneck of 14,5% in 1080p, 7,2% in 1440p and 3,6% in 4K. Not only that, he has a 2% bottleneck in RAM speed. A i7-13700K makes allot more sense. You get nearly no bottleneck, 1,3% in 1080p, 0,6% in 1440p and 0,3% in 4K. The 2% RAM speed bottleneck stays but with a RAM upgrade it goes away. I got 64GB of RAM DDR5 6600mHz and with that I got -0% bottleneck on RAM speed which basically is 0. Plus it is nearly the same result like a i9-14900K, the only differences are that the bottleneck with every resolution are 0% and the speed of the CPU itself is a difference of 7% with a i9-14900K. Everything else is the same just less threads and cores with the i7-13700K. The fps are only 1-2 fps slightly different then with a i9-14900K. And that unoptimized without a debloat of Windows and Nvidia, you could overclock the CPU or undervolt it.
feels like pc games are so unoptimized nowadays it's infuriating to pay this much for a gaming pc just to be met with 20fps on high settings... albeit with raytracing on but still
@@pR0ManiacS the problem is not the fps , it's the 1 % lows , this will creat some hiccups and stutter in games but if u are not sensitive to it , it's totally fine.
4070 for RT ( and AI works), specially Path Tracing is like sky and earth for lighting visuals in games. Or RX6700+ just for 2K gaming is a good choice.

@@ullidaon954 Flight Sim is very CPU heavy, you can enable DLSS Frame Generation to make it smoother. Go to settings and set DirectX version to DX12 Beta, then restart your game and you'll have option to enable DLSS Frame Generation.

It's riva tuner with my custom design. The UI will break if you don't have the same CPU cores like I do. Cause, the UI only accommodates 12 threads for showing per core CPU usage. So I haven't shared it
My monitor is in 1080 and my tv in 4k. I play 95% of time on my monitor. ALL my games, il all ultra (pt, rt, all on max), i have all the time minimum 60 fps .... DLSS is much better than fsr of amd. And FG of nvidia too, much better of AMD's FG I ve see a video, cyberpunk in 4k (all ultra, even pt, rt, .....) , dlss, fg and amd fsr and her fg system, the amd is less than 20 fps, and the nvidia 45/50 fps ... idk why people says all the time amd is better, so strange, when u see the differetns tests.
Always used nvidia but fuck a brand that relys on a upscaler to run console games, sticking to amd for a while until the bullshit stops I run native or nothing
DLSS looks better than native , and forget DLSS quality even DLSS performance sometimes look as good as native and i'm talking about 1440p. I make a video doing comparisons today
I should have tested Elden ring with RT Off , this game has no upscaler and I tested it with max settings with RT On at 1440p . But at 4K I tested it at max Setting RT OFF
the RTX 4070 perform worse then a Rx7800xt with raytracing in cyberpunk 2077, you get more FPS with a AMD card for the same money, in the city the RTX4070 get lower fps then we see in this video, with a AMD card everyone on quality and FG on you get about 70-95 fps in the center of the city. we see footage just indoors out not in center of the city, there i get even 130 fps no problem. But people still belive RT cores will make Raw performance obsolete ... Raw Performance still matters.
No it isn't, at 1440p the 5600x is great when paired with a 4070 Edit: If you don't believe me, watch a video showing the performance of a 13600k paired with a 4070. The performance is practically identical.
I know , that's why each segment started with DLSS OFF and FG OFF and then I subsequently Enabled DLSS to show DLSS performance gain and then Frame Generation to show FG FPS gain. Nvidia card are more expensive than AMD card in same price bracket cause people account for nvidia features. I have tested DLSS vs native many times on this channel , even while making this video in my editor program I could see there's more details in DLSS image than native TAA image. So better image quality than native TAA while getting a flat performance jump of about 25% with the DLSS Quality is a win for many users If you're not going to use nvidia features then there's literally no purpose buying nvidia card cause AMD 7800 XT might be cheaper and beat the 4070 in rasterized performance.

4K 60 Hz should not be an issue cause we have DLSS to compensate for performance loss .

Basically, it just uses ai to make frames, so it looks a lot smoother
on 1440P FG is actually need if if have 120-144Hz monitor. If 60Hz ur gonna 2K\ultra\80fps all the time in optimized games.

Ever since DLSS version 2.5.1 which was over a year ago it has consistently looked better than native at 1440p and above. I see a lot of online forums where AMD users keep bashing NVIDIA users for playing at lower internal Resolution . But these users simply might not have a first-hand experience with DLSS.
Even though DLSS was introduced to boost FPS for ray tracing. It stand alone has been my favorite Feature of nvidia cards. And you can manually update dlss version of any game by just swapping to the newer DLSS file.
RayTracing.
Both cards can do it, nvidia has better performance, but again you'll have to rely of FSR on AMD cards to alleviate performance loss that comes with ray tracing.
@@rx58000 I haven't bought a monitor yet but I'm planning to get a 1440p 144hz one. Is DLSS really that much of a game changer? I've read mixed reviews about it.
@@Daubinho It's really more to do with TAA which is blurry AF , FSR while not as blurry as TAA still introduces alot of shimmering.
Tbh, in my eyes DLSS on Quality looks a little better than native resolution (1080p) for me

I wonder if this card is any better than the 7800 xt? i came from an all amd laptop that performed great but had all types of driver issues in games that weren't mainstream, and you had mod some games to just get them running
It really depends on weather you're on board DLSS or not.
As I have both AMD and Nvidia Cards I find DLSS Quality to not only look better but also more stable than Native TAA image and FSR.
Head to head 7800 XT wins in raster but If we consider a real world scenario where an AMD user will be playing at native res while an Nvidia User will be playing with DLSS Quality you'll see RTX 4070 be ahead of 7800 XT by 10-20% Depending on the game.
And Better Ray Tracing , Frame Gen , etc are nice to have
Native is better. And native resolution is the way to experience solo play 2k/4k.
Amd cards are not that great in PC games Ray tracing.
If you plan to play with full rtx settings go for team green min 4070.
I bought a 4070 and I'm very happy. Frame generation works like a dream and with some tweak in nv panel, no tearing for sure!

I have a pretty moded out Cyberpunk build but for sake of this video I don't think I was using any mods.
The Only mod that I accidentally let in was sutuational motion blur Which enabled motion blur while dashing and driving . But this has no impact on performance.
I am going to soon upload a video with my moded out build where I use dynamic path tracing and few more quality of life mods

So the answer isn’t simple. Somehow nvidia has gimped this car for resolution above 1440p . Let’s say compared to a RTX 3060 ti if 4070 is 50% faster at 1440p it’s only ~40% faster at 4K. Frame generation might be broken some times too at 4K with this card.
So playing at 1440p DLAA /DLSS is ideal for this card as it under performs at 4K. What refresh rate is your monitor ?
@@rx58000 it's an LG G3 TV so it's only 120hz so I'm ok with anything 60-100 fps. It's just I notice Nvidia geforce recommended settings always are at 4k with dlss.
@@CPTAws0me23hey, I would recommend almost never using native 4k, as dlss quality can bring better (taa makes it look bad) quality, but at balanced and performance you might notice some issues, but as long as you can get a good image it might not matter to you

@@kirekhar RTX 4000 series work quiet well with weaker CPU's as you can increase visual smoothness by turning Frame generation ON in newer games.
If your budget is low then I would recommend getting a used 5600x the one i'm using in this video cause in the future you can upgrade to 5800X3D as they use the same socket.
But if you are building new system from scratch then you should consider the 7600x as it uses the new AM5 socket and in future you can upgrade to much newer CPU.

It does, he has a bottleneck of 14,5% in 1080p, 7,2% in 1440p and 3,6% in 4K. Not only that, he has a 2% bottleneck in RAM speed. A i7-13700K makes allot more sense. You get nearly no bottleneck, 1,3% in 1080p, 0,6% in 1440p and 0,3% in 4K. The 2% RAM speed bottleneck stays but with a RAM upgrade it goes away. I got 64GB of RAM DDR5 6600mHz and with that I got -0% bottleneck on RAM speed which basically is 0. Plus it is nearly the same result like a i9-14900K, the only differences are that the bottleneck with every resolution are 0% and the speed of the CPU itself is a difference of 7% with a i9-14900K. Everything else is the same just less threads and cores with the i7-13700K. The fps are only 1-2 fps slightly different then with a i9-14900K. And that unoptimized without a debloat of Windows and Nvidia, you could overclock the CPU or undervolt it.

Not a good pair? Not the Best pair but it is decent. The bottleneck in Spiderman i see it but i also see the fps not being bad 100-130 with fg.
@@pR0ManiacS the problem is not the fps , it's the 1 % lows , this will creat some hiccups and stutter in games but if u are not sensitive to it , it's totally fine.

4070 for RT ( and AI works), specially Path Tracing is like sky and earth for lighting visuals in games. Or RX6700+ just for 2K gaming is a good choice.

@@ullidaon954 Flight Sim is very CPU heavy, you can enable DLSS Frame Generation to make it smoother.
Go to settings and set DirectX version to DX12 Beta, then restart your game and you'll have option to enable DLSS Frame Generation.

The UI will break if you don't have the same CPU cores like I do. Cause, the UI only accommodates 12 threads for showing per core CPU usage. So I haven't shared it

the RTX 4070 perform worse then a Rx7800xt with raytracing in cyberpunk 2077, you get more FPS with a AMD card for the same money, in the city the RTX4070 get lower fps then we see in this video, with a AMD card everyone on quality and FG on you get about 70-95 fps in the center of the city.
we see footage just indoors out not in center of the city, there i get even 130 fps no problem.
But people still belive RT cores will make Raw performance obsolete ... Raw Performance still matters.

I know , that's why each segment started with DLSS OFF and FG OFF and then I subsequently Enabled DLSS to show DLSS performance gain and then Frame Generation to show FG FPS gain.
Nvidia card are more expensive than AMD card in same price bracket cause people account for nvidia features. I have tested DLSS vs native many times on this channel , even while making this video in my editor program I could see there's more details in DLSS image than native TAA image. So better image quality than native TAA while getting a flat performance jump of about 25% with the DLSS Quality is a win for many users
If you're not going to use nvidia features then there's literally no purpose buying nvidia card cause AMD 7800 XT might be cheaper and beat the 4070 in rasterized performance.
