What Imagawa did with Mazinger, by successfully mixing 3 unrelated Mazinger mangas into one single cohesive story with the right amount of plot twists is simply just a masterpiece to me. Let's leave it at that. There's a reason why Nagai prefers Devilman over Mazinger. Shin Mazinger had that Devilman level of writing that the original Mazinger manga didn't.

We know that Shin Getter in Z2 is from a different universe than classic Getter from Z1. The Shin Mazinger Zero manga also mentions of Mazingers existing in parallel universes, with classic Mazinger being among them (Shin Mazinger is set in another). Thus, SKL's existence among them.

It's interesting. The piloted robots give it a sort of "real robot" series feel only it's a "What happens when you let a Go Nagai mecha loose in a real robot series?" Well, lots of things die apparently. I don't really mind the modern re-imagining since they just gave us Shin Mazinger which was good enough for my retro fix..
@ryoga316 like i said he adapted 3 mazinger mangas for the most part with some violence jack chars. z mazinger (zeus) , mazinger z: relic of terror by ken ishikawa (kedora, the new mazinger design also comes from that one shot )and the original mazinger z manga by go nagai (lorelei arc). he also took scenes from the mazinger z manga by gosaku ota (when ashura was about to kill himself and couldn't in episode 22). so that kinda makes it 4.
"Now where do you want me to shoot? Any requests?" "Time's up!" Doesn't sound like something that can come up in Mazinger (all the hotbloodedness seems to have been replaced by this kind of lines lol), but looking great nevertheless!

@BrentDubroc What Imagawa tries to do is to make Shin Mazinger a more modern, clearer version of the Mazinger Z story. In a nutshell, Shin Mazinger is how the story of Mazinger Z SHOULD be had Nagai have his way without the censorships and all. The action in Shin Mazinger was indeed compromised to give a more precise, detailed story of the Mazinger story.

@ryoga316 I get what you are saying. The SRW franchise is a great combination of commercials and fanfiction. SRW J made me wanna check out Layzner, videos for Z2 makes me wanna check out VOTOMS, and the recommended bar next to the layzner opening makes me want to watch Dragonar. It is good for older or lesser known series to get a spotlight (yay, Daiguard), but sometimes, it would be nice to see series actually blend rather than exist side-by-side. Keep it in character, no problems.
@ThanatosRW So far, the ONLY SRW game that did not feature Koji is SRW 1 for the Gameboy (that's because there, you only control the units, and the pilots are non-existant). With Terada already saying Shin Mazinger will be the standard for future SRW games, it's highly unlikely we'll see a SRW game without Koji, even if SKL is included (unless Koji's familiarity from Japanese fans faded over time).

Freaking awesome, The character are already totally bad ass. And nice phrases "We are dead untill they come back" or like they put there foot on the man. I loled. After this trailer i believe it will be better than Shin mazinger but it may have a change if they finally announce Shin Mazinkaiser.^^

@ThanatosRW This is because that was the intent from the start - as well as the demand from the Japanese players. Terada originally wanted a simple battle SRPG for the game, thus, SRW 1. But because Japanese gamers don't like the characters to stray away from the original source canon, the stories and characters in the franchise behave as such. There are a few exceptions, such as the Ideon ending in SRW F Final and SRW Alpha 3 as completely avoidable.
@alpha8147 Uh no it's not. Mazinkaiser SKL's setting, characters, plot is more super robot than anything else. There are no traces of the real robot genre in this trailer.
@SatanBla I've seen plenty of classic HK shooter flicks. I'm saying that the scenes of the Mazinger shooting up the other mechs in the last third of this clip were lifted directly from a 2002 American film called Equilibrium. Check it out some time, then you'll know what you're talking about. ; )

I doubt they would use this for SRW. People get pissed when there is no Getter Robo, imagine if there was no Kouji Kabuto. And I really cannot see them putting this side by side with any other mazinger franchise. Although, they could brainwash Tetsuya and he could pilot it. Great Mazinkaiser
