I got one and for the price it's pretty nice. No real problems of any kind so far. The 2 big problems are the mag release and the uncompatible mags. For 30$ can't complain, what does nerf give you for 30$ these days?

To be honest the gecko isn't anything that special so ripping it off isn't that bad but if they ripped off something like the SLAB or the Lynx those are two very unique blasters with a mechanism that actually took time to design
Gecko was the First with the Lynx to get copied... SLAB is just too new
I can spend 50$ on this, and not having to do anything, or Spend $18 on a Gecko's file,.. then spend a couple Hundred on a 3D printer and supplies. Gecko should be more accessible to the average person/customer.. fair game they didnt capitalize. You can bitch about the Lizzy but Gecko isnt something everything can obtain.
I get that point... but today with ALL the Gecko clone out there, there are more interesting option with better quality without being a complete ripoff...at least with the Rhinoceros BJ02 they tried to update the look and was way better quality... otherwise there are still the SP-50, the RE45, the Thunder Dragon or event he S200 for that matter.
Its not just this too! There’s also the Woozi, the Lynx, and apparently also the Caliburn! Did I miss any?
Lynx I was aware... but isn't the Caliburn open source??

@@thatoldnerfguy oof… the only reason I got this was because where I’m from , 3d printing is expensive, and most of the parts needed are pretty much non existant. I could’ve just shipped it from US, but shipping fees and tax made it expensive. I really feel guilty of buying this…
@@PestoPla TBH the "Other" clone...the Rhinoceros, look more Inspired by the Gecko and is of way more Quality for less money.

I've already try to slap in a 11.5 kg spring made for it, the result were pretty bad. The gate snapped and the barrel shot out after 2 shots... This is a very fragile thing... all looks.

Can’t blame the chinese if the gecko had not been so expensive and hard to get in certain places. Simple economics unfortunately.

I look at it little differently (because it's only a toy). The Gecko does have a good design. But the Gecko's popularity is meh because there are better alternatives for comparable cost/price. Yes, Chinese companies stole and should be hanged. But for us consumers, this Lizzy is a great opportunity to experience a new toy, otherwise inaccessible without 3D printing or $150+. This is a battle between the original and the knockoffs. And if the Gecko was really great and popular like the Caliburn, then these Chinese companies will probably buy the patents like the Worker Mod company is doing now (we should be noticing the fact that because the Worker Mod is selling Caliburn legitimately there are no knockoff Caliburns around...). And if the original Gecko was reasonably priced, I don't think many consumers would try out these knockoffs.
Let's say I was mainly showing it as I saw it back then. This was an early and very bad unit, I had another one offered to me since and it was much better... Still a blatant ripoff, but nowadays there are way better offering on the market (S200 or the "soon to come" DZP 2.1)
This blaster is about 13 - 26 USD in my place, but then again 3D printing things arent a big things here as it was expensive, so buying this was the only way you could get it, plus the majority of the buyers have no idea on problems about chinese company ripping off small creators, they only buy stuff for cheap and as long as it working. Saddening but it is what it is.

I bought the lizzy before I knew about the gecko. I really just wanted a cyberpunk gun. When I found out I could just 3d print it I did at a local makers space. The downside of the lizzy is the same downside of all chineseium replicas, while the downside of the gecko is the downside of all 3dprinted things. I tried setting it up to print as nicely as possible but you can still see which way the print head was going.

I'm friends with ehdrien and have two Geckos. Seeing this Lizzy makes me sad.

Ehdrien should have a fire under his butt to license out his design to someone who can make injection molded Geckos... Because 3d printing should not be considered the final evolution of a blaster the way the community currently treats 3d printing. We need proper injection molded quality blasters for the hobby. 3d printing is fun and useful for prototyping.. that is about it.

That's an interesting review actually I won't buy one of those Blasters for two reason one because of the controversy into because of the performance and everything else you've mentioned
this one is all on the look... Maybe with a good maintenance(Lube, o-ring...), but since I have 4 stripped screws, it's not really an option! If anything it'll end up in an "endurance" test
To be fair, the original blaster by ehdrien isn’t an original design. It’s exactly the same as the pistol from the cyber punk 2077 game. So for a Chinese company to go and make it, isn’t wrong. The wrong part is just how bad it is. A lot of people act like the ghecko is an original when it isn’t. It would be more worrying to see blasters like the magpie or the desert pigeon get knocked off, as those are completely original.
Looking the same from the outside is completely different from being functionally identical
It's honestly upsetting to see Chinese blaster creators resort to this. They can do so much better and have been able to do better, heck look at Worker and the new QWK Challenger Mk 3. If they had innovated off the Gecko I would have wanted to add it to my collection, since innovation is healthy for growth (Already got a Gecko). So you’re mad because they took the idea and made an injection molded version of a 3D printed blaster that was already a copy of a video game gun design? Get over it, everyone copies each other. If this was such a big deal then the original creature should be called out by CD project red for copying the design. The fact is that the hobby is where it is today all thanks to the community and for CHINA for bringing the products to market. And BTW the air seal can be improved with O rings and better spring just like any other blaster and the priming is supposed to prevent you from priming upside down and can be easily modded. I ordered mine and 2 extra mags for less than 50$
@@thepunisher3597 The designer did not rip it off the game. The game did not have any prop version or blueprints for it. He too the time and effort to innovate and design from INSPIRATION from a cyberpunk game that he loved. He had respect for the game, giving homage to it and being very transparent that it is from that game.
China has great potential. I would never say it hasnt helped the hobby. But its precisely because I believe in Chinese creators that I want to expect better from them. This rip off is not their best. They did not innovate, design or even acknowledge where it came from. Thats just stealing.
Have some empathy. Put yourself in his shoes. You put in alot of effort and time to make something that you love, trial and error, and you offer it up to the world for a small amount out of passion.
Then you find someone pretends that they made it and starts selling it at significant profits.
If you got one, good for you. Thats your choice. But you don't have the right to tell others that they should not be upset over a very clear and morally empty action.
@@vortigeriron1532 the design of the gun is straight up copyright infringement whether or not he designed the internals to shoot foam, if You make a foam blaster based on the game fortnite and sell it, expect a cease and desist letter. At the end of the day the both copied someone. If anything the Chinese took the design and made it better and stronger. It’s not a “knock off” it’s actually an upgrade and I’m going for the best.
Lets just hope that foam blasting events will ban those knock off products
Excluding a player (that have no clue of the situation) that may just have received this as a gift, would be the most Toxic thing to do...Community member are not to be blame for the creation of such a thing...better explain it to them and enforce it afterward.Let's not allow those seller to win and split us apart!

Next they'll wanna ban adventure force users, at the end of the day if it's performance is poor it'll never be used at events. If it has a great deal of mod potential it will be. Are we going to boycott shellington for using real steel firearm designs? No of course not. These blasters work great for people who don't have a ton to spend (they're around what $55 on amazon) banning them and their users as a result would be both pathetic and entirely wrong. Are we going to ban the nexus pro? The mark 3? which is obviously a modded stryfe knockoff.
It's funny how the people in the nerf hobby bang on about not copying other people's Intellectual Property, and here is a perfect example of people making money off a video games IP. I am strongly guessing that Edhrien is not paying royalties to Cd Projekt for the use of their IP.
So to steal that IP is okay, but for a company to then do this is wrong?!?

I'm getting your point. The problem with this one is that they just took Ehdrien's file and adapted them for injection molding. Which felt different with the Rhino, like they at least tried to make a different blaster by updating the look and slightly updating it.... But in the end a knockoff is a knockoff...Stryfe or Gecko...it is the same. I was just Honest with the blaster review, this is just not worth it.
