Dont understand what people are talking about in the comments or what they heard but this live version was everything, great arrangement, and vocal!! Some people will just not appreciate greatness when they hear it!?
The problem is that that Daryl's mic quality was kinda weird, not picking up the full range it seems. It's very apparent, because everything else was utterly perfect. Really unfortunate, still a great version.
Hate to break it to you, but if you were a teen in the 80’s you weren’t part of that so called greatest generation (if there ever was one), it was the people that were adults in the 80’s
These guys are legends. They taught at the same school I took lessons at. The sound on these recordings is WICKED. Especially the guitar AND the harmonies. Long live Hall and Oates!!! 🎉

I saw Hall and Oates at the Hollywood Bowl for a 4th of July concert a few years ago. I was sitting next to my BFF. I kept telling her "Oh!This is a great one too!" All their songs are great! Would love to see them again. So great!😎💖👍
What a together BAND!!!! Consistently brilliant sound for 5 decades. How can anyone doubt God when you hear how tight and harmonious this band sound. One of his amazing and more melodic Creations. Their LIVE Gigs are unforgettable! Always play a track or two by them on my "Here's Ricky Radio Show on WLR FM." Rock on Daryl and John Can't wait to see you guys at the Marquee in beautiful Cork on July 8th. Rick in Waterford Ireland.

John Oates was one half of one of the greatest bands there ever was. He wrote some of their greatest songs, is an amazing guitarist and vocalist, bit like Paul McCartney or John Lennon really!

Played ENTIRE song live at the end near closing credits. I won't give anything else away. ☺️😋😎 But song also hit my heart - reminds me of someone I can't be with right now.💔
Freaky, but fun to hear. C- on the harmony for the first chorus. But most of it is cool and live is live. I also appreciate the "spin" on the lead vocal which is actually in my opinion more "spicy" than the original. The chorus and backgrounds became much better even if the ORGAN IS TOO HOT!? and the snare drum sucks!? - best wishes!

Holy autotune. When you watch Live at Daryl's house you can hear all the pitch correction/autotune there as well. Ruins a lot of what would otherwise be great performances for me. I do understand that some people can't hear/detect it. But once you know how to identify pitch correction, you can pick out even the most minimal of corrections and it takes much of the enjoyment out of listening to music. It's best used very subtly.
It's absolutely amazing the amount of hits these two had and they ever even part of the songwriting for pretty much all of them.

Lacked energy. Not saying they mailed it in exactly but the joy of the original wasn't there and that is essential for this tune. Exuberance is key.
