@@user-yk1cw8im4h nowdays in asphalt 8 there are 3 types of currency coins which you gain by playing game then fusion coins those you can get by spending real money or wait for events, and blue tokens are almost same thing as fusion coins and thing about fusion and tokens that most of time you need to either grind for long time or spent big amount of money to get enough for car i havent played it enough to figure out rest

I wish there was a proper version of this. With the fun multiplayer modes they added like that one event where it was literally just Blur (why did they remove that) but without microtransactions. Sadly this is not a perfect world.
Closest to that is asphalt 8 plus but you need Apple Arcade to get it

Exactly, just a fun Burnout-like mobile racer you can play anytime you're bored, it's sad how Asphalt and Gameloft in general has devolved.

18:34 One small thing I noticed about this old version, is how much traffic is on the maps. They started slowly removing traffic from the maps, and in A9 "traffic" is just parked cars on the sides.
I miss the versions back in like 2014 - 2017. Really good stuff, easy to grind. It wasn't like I had to join every single event, and do every single mission just to have a shitty D class car. The GUI was also one of the things I really wanted back, super simple and doesn't lag phones with tons of pop-ups trying to sell you a new car.

Ikr bro....I honestly still play asphalt 8 right now but I first play this game in mid 2017 and 2017 version is still better version than the recent version,not really greedy,you still can get token rewards from MP or event,lot of special events like R&D,Enduro double down,championship etc (now is just boring festival)
Now I don't think asphalt 8 would be comeback like that again since gameloft merged with vivendi
Luckily I found the gold mine of IPAs for Asphalt 8 that had the versions before they added stupid tokens. Now I can play in peace.

honestly i had completely stopped playing the game before they added the gas mechanic so the version you played today is how i remember the game, such a good game man, i played it with one of my friends on each-other’s tablets after school
There was recently an update that added yet another currency, and the blue tokens are the new primary way to buy cars... You can only get blue tokens consistently through the online mode rewards. The car upgrades are done through fusion coins and blueprints. There is NO reason for credits to exist in modern asphalt 8. So many sources and 0 sinks.
I remember playing this game before it got ruined. Easily was my favorite racing game on mobile. Thank goodness I can download this old version on my computer. I'm gonna try it out. Also great video eden!👍
I remember playing GT racing 2 on an Intel Atom smartphone, that was my favourite mobile racer, it's quite underwhelming in any other device.

It was same with asphalt 9 to me. At least the disappointment was not that big because the game wasn't as good as previous entries from launch day

It also happened to Real Racing 3. It has a ton of cars, and you can drive in first-person camera, but the store and microtransactions have gone out of control. There are cars locked behind microtransaction paywalls.

And ironically with infinite money glitch, real racing 3 is more enjoyable.

I started playing Asphalt 8 in October 2021, and I've been kinda addicted since. I've recently become a moderator on the subreddit, but it's basically a ghost town now compared to what it was.
It's interesting to hear others' stories about this game, given that my memory of it only starts about a year ago.
The game is very very bad now unfortunately. Which is why he's playing the old version. The game today had been ruined by corporate greed.

it is better than realistic. it is vibrant. Real Racing 3 is the best example. if the game just tries to be realistic it will look flat and one-dimensional. it is realistic and that's it. but A8 is something else

Fuel systems are something way too common in modern mobile racing games, and i hate it.
the "fuel system" isnt a thing on normal races, you *only* use it whenever you want to play a LTE (limited time event) and that has been around for ages now (since 1.3.0)
I've played every game since Asphalt 6, and i remember Asphalt 8 being so fun and good to play when it came out, this is truly a blast from the past
I remember playing the game back in 2015 when the sector 8 update came out. Spent hours grinding for credits and tokens for the Lamborghini Egoista and the McLaren F1 and racing on sector 8 was the most fun thing ever. good times man

God, this was one of those games that defined my childhood, used to play this game a lot on my mom's iPhone 6. Got back to playing it one time and had the same complaints as everyone else had with the recent version of the game. It was borderline unplayable and became not just pay to win, but pay to progress. It was frustrating, but now, I'm happy that one of the earliest versions of the game has been restored. Another good video from Eden!
Wish there was someone or some group that just could and did mod the original game so something like NFS World.

I remember loving this game so much as a kid and getting so mad when they added the F-150 and it costed like 75,000 which is insane for a D-class car.
It costed so much because it was a multiplayer car that usely raced with B/A class cars. It was probably one of the fastest D class cars aside from the areal atom and Porsche.
Unfortunately today the game is impossible to play without spending hundreds of dollars.
75k credits wasn't a bad grind back then with that one race that gave you 4000 credits per lap and was like 50 seconds.
Then due to Vivendi's desperation for more funds, they made it a token car.

I've played the Asphalt series since way back when they were still 2D Java games. This particular one I played the hell out of up until a few years ago. I dropped the series when it became a MASSIVE grind to complete the entire game. Watching this is bittersweet, evoking quite a bit of nostalgia and at the same time triggering PTSD due to the unjustified never-ending chore that is the late game.
The era from 2016 to 2019 un asphalt 8 was one of the best experiences ive ever had with a game ever. This game is truly something special to me
The A8 old version project had a bunch of versions with working multiplayer, but sadly all of them have been shut down.

Man, what sucks most is the fact that the game RESET my progress after those damn updates, so I lost everything, even the S-cars I grinded for.

Yeahbut a9 turned into the same abomination as asphalt 8 tho, 5 to 6 currencies, depending on the event going on at the time, super p2w and micro transactions everywhere + a battlepass called "legendpass", basically a 10$ scam where you get a car that's exclusive for a few months and which is required to get another pretty mid S class car, that is just a reskin of the past 10 added S class cars + those events are pretty p2w. And then we have events where you have to spend 500$ on average (not optional) to get the car, 5k$ to max it and 15k$ to golden max it
I remember having Asphalt 8 on my old BlackBerry, I forget which model but the one with the screen and keyboard being the same size, but anyway I had so much fun grinding the old A8A for the stars and collecting money so I could upgrade every car fully, it was such a nice escape to be able to play such a great game anywhere I desired

My youtube was kinda dry nowadays. You know when you don"t get anything good recommended, no other things to keep you entertained... Then I found this. The nostalgia that hit me was unreal. The game itself in its former glory... the music... the fun you had while playing it... and the MLG meme... man, this video is truly a masterpiece.
I think the mobile version of Most Wanted 2012 is unironically one of the best mobile racing games ever.

I remember this game playing on my old Windows 8 PC and on all my other devices in my home. This was 2016 - 2018 it was so fun I used to get stuck on one map trying to get as much stars as I can using arrow keys xD now I used controller it's much better this is one of my best memories while time flies playing this game. I played from 2015-2019, and I remember when I found out about Sector 7 or 8, I would play it all the time thinking I had just found a secret map no one else knew about.
I remember my first introduction to this game many years ago, my brother's friend brought his laptop over and we used to take turn playing, it was so good. Occasionally jumped on and off it after the years to check out the different updates, I vividly remember enjoying the hell out of the Fall Out Boy update, earning that BMW M2 Special Edition with little upgrades and without spending a dime was some of the most fun I had, plus the vibe mania album brought was dope.

I remember grinding the Agera R on my summer vacation of 2014 or 2015 on my old ipad and owned almost all the cars. Then my progress was somewhat deleted after I updated it. I downloaded it again last year only to find out how pay to win it went. Career became completely useless and the game lost variety since the only good cars you could buy are the meta cars in MP races. I thought it couldn't get any worse until update 55 happened where all the car upgrades needed cards and fusion coins, making credits worthless. That is definitely the final nail to the coffin of the game in my opinion.
I distinctly remember grinding for the FXX back in the day. The amount of times I ran that Alps track... holy balls man. Totally worth it though.

I started playing in 2017 on my iPhone 4s that I got for christmas... I remember when there were no fusion coins, the old garage, I saw motorcycles come to the game and I played the game every saturday morning... It was my favorite game at the time.

Asphalt 8, how it stands today, reminds me of Farmville. It was so cool watching my parents play the game, but when I turned 13 and tried to play it myself, it was really disappointing to see the pure amount of bloat. I bet it's gotten a lot worse 6 years later
When I was 4 yrs old in 2015, Me and my brother were ADDICTED to this game. It was just so fun and there was no fusion coins or any cars that were purely p2w. All cars back then were f2p. Now it's just a money laundering scheme.
You migh want try out the Apple Arcade version. In that version you unlock cars by earning stars and there's absolutely zero IAPs.

I went back to playing this in 2023 after not playing it for 8 years and I remember I quit on the fusion coins update and now that I see it, tokens r now UNOBTAINABLE through no microtransactions
I played this game through quarantine but one of these updates just made me just stop playing it because of how they changed the upgrading system and just completely removed the max upgrades and turned it into pro only which I'd argue is more costly than regular max pro upgrades
Even the starter car is way costing and my poor bmw m1 was the first car that i maxed out but Vivendi just slapped shity blueprints and gave only 10000 fusion coins

To me, when asphalt 8 had car Mastery is when the game peaked, there was new content and incentives to go back to my other cars.
And it also helps me feel personally attached to the car building them to max and then pro. it was really fun for me. Also, I swore blue tokens were always in the game, wow.

I remember playing this game back in 2018-2019 when the game wasn't the state that it's in now. You could still grind in the game and it was still bearable. It was the reason I really liked the Ferrari FXX and the DS Survolt. I completely lost interest in the game when my cloud save was completely erased after not playing it for a long time when I deleted the game because I needed space in my phone. I have tried Asphalt 9 Legends but the pay to win system was equally as bad as the last game in my opinion. It's amazing to see the game in this version because it really captured that Asphalt feel compared to what it has become now; a soulless cash grab. Keep up the great works on your content as always! I really love them!

I remember getting asphalt 8 on the family windows 10 PC back in 2016. I remember being amazed at how good the graphics were (I had just gone from playing NFS Hot pursuit 2 on windows 7)

I used to play racing rivals so much. It had online lobbys and you could even do pink slips with other players. I even asked for google play cards for Christmas and used them for the game. Then they shut down the servers and I lost it all😔

I remember as a kid in 2014, seeing my uncle play this game on his phone, and i went nuts over it. a mobile racing game with such insane graphics?? no way was it true. but it was, and it was a shit ton of fun when i finally got my hands on it. as a kid, the veneno was and has been my favourite car, and buying it in asphalt 8 was my first experience driving it in a video game, and the amount of happiness i felt once i unlocked it was immeasurable. it makes me sad that gameloft is just another game dev studio that only wants to make money. asphalt could have been the best racing experience on mobile and pc, but instead they needed the money. cheers for making a vid like this tho, brings back so many fun memories.
I was there in the 2013 days with you Eden, but it's no surprise that A8 in particular became riddled with microtransactions, since the devs were situated in Ukraine they need the money to support themselves and their families, that's why it was so broken

Seeing this brought a smile to my face, I remember having the game on my shitty offbrand tablet my oarents got for me and I played the hell out of it, I had finally gotten the veneno and then my tablet broke and I lost that account forever. Then a while later I came back and the game wasnt as pay to win as it is now but it was getting there and it drove me to quit, and then now well, we all know the state of the game now, I will always hold this game in high regards in my memories.

I personally started playing when the RnD events were gaining traction. Though I played on PC and my school's WiFi didn't allow me to do so, I still enjoyed playing the actual events like RnD and Championships. Then they introduced weirder and weirder vehicles (remember the Despicable Me 3 car?) And I became so bored, I was planning my exit already. I did use cars like the GTA Spank, the Lykan Hypersport and even the McLaren MP4-8 in MP. After 6 full years of not playing, I re-installed the game thinking not much had changed. Little did I know, this game turned into the best use of the "look how they massacred my boy" meme I have ever seen. Outrageous prices, ridiculous upgrade conditions and useless extra currency turned this once fun game into a nightmare that I would not touch again with a 50 Ft pole. I mean, seriously. What once was the price for a mid-range S-class vehicle became the price of the worst C-class car in the game. That was the straw that broke the camel's back, so I am glad that this version has been made/restored

When you were racing in Shanghai, I knew exactly what to look out for and how you would have to dodge cars then take a sharp left turn while drifting and then drift to the extreme right to take the tunnel and collect a yellow nitro boost because I have the track completely memorized from how many times I have driven it. Truly a game for nostalgia.
