- As calving continues on we have some random chores/jobs to complete amidst the constant calving and help that the young critters need.
Welcome to Sonne Farms! On this channel we showcase numerous jobs a Corn/Soybean/Beef producing operation takes on each day. Hop in the cab or sorting alley with Cole, Brian, or Jeff, and see how life really is for the people that help feed the US and the rest of the world. In addition to Corn, Soy, and Cattle, Sonne Farms puts up grass and alfalfa and sells pure bred Black Angus Bulls.

I always like the video before I watch it because I know it will be good
I appreciate it!!
32 thousands view. 2.2 thousands thumbs up. Come on people. Help the kid out👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Side note. Pigeons are beautiful birds that are personable. Give them a home and they leave your barn. Feed them and they'll get to know you and buzz you in the barn yard..
Loved the drone, poop in the water was priceless, but not sure what made me laugh more, your dad running from a cow or you running from a mouse.
Or was it a rat?
I was running towards the mouse, trying to kill it :)
@@SonneFarms I knew you were not running from it.
You need a .22 FX Impact PCP pellet rifle with an ATN 4K scope... Then you can kill the rats at night.... With the impact you can change between the different calibers .177, .22, .25 &.30 to what is best needed... Dad will enjoy it as much as you will... you will need a compressor because the manual pumps are not fun but your young and strong! So a hundred pumps will not bother you to much! Then you can kill the birds inside the buildings... I bet you have a huge rat population on your farm! Flir makes a hand held thermal scope for under $500 on Amazon...Wish I had a farm like yours to shoot rats on!
@@nomerc3608 little less expensive airguns work good either gamo coyote/ hpa tactical. Maybe till 40 yards
"Annoying the cattle for the fame and glory"
Remember that time that your pop asked you if you liked bulls or heifers?
I do! Your pop is hilarious.
Who pooped in the water tank! ROTFLOL!!!! I'm gonna use that on my kids LOL
I love your Dad! He and Cole the Cornstar's Dad should get together, they'd have so much fun!!!
You should do a video on were you take the drone out over your farm and show us where everything is, because sometimes it can get confusing were you are. Love the video. Just an idea.
Good idea!
I couldn't tell if you were more afraid of the mouse or the momma cow. Another great video! As always thanks for taking the time to share.
I love your videos! They are so interesting!❣
Thank you so much!
Thanks for all ur video; much. Respect.
Didn’t know you had a sister, she really doesn’t like mice!! That was funny watching her run away from the mouse and scream 😱 LOL!! Nice video buddy.
He just said he didn't like 2 things...Rats/mice and pigeons!
Samantha Flynn I heard him, I’m busting his stones!
Great video as usual....good looking calves dropping in SD.
Thank you!!
Those pigeons are still laughing. Another great video!
Thank you Andy!
I always enjoy your videos and looking forward to the next one.
Love you guys! Great video 👍👍
Love your vids
Yum steak on the grill. Still love your dad's comments. You are funny too.
That wet, muddy, sloppiness reminds me of the farm I grew up on, here in Minnesota. I remember my dad calling it the frog farm 😊
A little tip that save us in the muddy areas was that we put down matting boards and it healed a ton!
I don't suppose I need to advise your Dad on why it's important to be careful when going over a fence. Thanks for sharing!
Lol on the mouse dont blame ya cole bit it was funny . Brian moves pretty fast when need to lmbo . Good video Cole & Brian be safe Daniel from central Mississippi
You guys make me jealous, living the life 👍
Great video
I’m not sure if you have done a farm tour video, but I would sure enjoy one
Love watching your videos
Glad you like them!
You guys are so comical 😂
You guys take awesome care of your cattle and have a good time doing it, I'd like to buy you both a beer if we ever cross paths
Idea for your muddy alley run. Dump wood chips into the run. We get loads of it from the local munching company. Works awesome
What's better to do than watching farming videos while being on restricted movement order due to Covid 19. Great content, as always. Stay safe!
Dad afraid of big momma and Cole afraid of tiny critters. 🤣
Put a fin sheet of plastic on top of the 'silage' pit to prevent/get less bad maize/silage
Daddy O has some quick self preservation, "feet don't fail me now" moves..
I’m from the future you pour concrete we’re u work cattle😂 I’m only here because it’s not calving season yet and I’m watching reruns!
we put sphalt in our old bank barn where it was deeper than the otherside. Then we packed it with our little skid. It works great.Maybe you could consider doing tht
Enjoyed the vid, thanks! :)
Cole. Never stop producing video's ! .......I would go with the roof to start....Try a different shotgun, that one must have a bent barrel.
Something we started to do for mud holes like that is scrap them out and put asphalt millings in. Works great turns hard as concrete and cheap
Run Brian Run 😂
Nice grill we have tradger to
Your dad has some guts with those cows lol. Awesome 👍. I had a cow calve today. Shes like a deer in the headlights. I think I'll wait till the husband gets home from work so she doesn't know who she should chase lol. Calf is good though. Get a trap for that raccoon. (Sardines) She will destroy your building.
Do ya'll have Caliche Road Base Material in your neck of the woods? IF you use it like we do in Texas and put in down in those high traffic wet spots like your gates, alleyways, ect. and when it dries up it's just like concrete. It would be so much easier and would work great to fix "Ellie's Pond" in front of the shop. Just dump it, level it and wet it down, if there isn't enough moisture, then STAY OFF a couple days until it dries and it will last for YEARS... Just a suggestion that would save ya'll a lot of wasted time, ongoing labor and STOP the cattle from sinking to their bellies~!
Check out "geotextile" fabric for cattle feedlots. Claims are 1/3 cost of concrete so cover 3× the area for = dollars. You have a nice set of pens and good working setup. "ROOFS" are always going to be a maintenance expense. If you have enough roof area for your operation just eliminate the mud with geo fabric. Best to you and yours.
*I laughed when you screamed like a girl at the rat! Thanks for that!*
Instructor I had In the Canadian Military Told me this...
You can lead a horse to a trough, you can lead a cow to pasture. But better not lead past your target with your "round".
Your leading a little to far out Cole. That's all. Trust yourself. Your instincts will put you on target. Don't second guess yourself when shooting.
Never realized how effective a drone could be to check on cows
I'm investing in shotgun shell market. You keep shooting, I'll retire Rich...
haha thanks!
Practice, practice, practice...
Awesome video as always!!!!
Thank you Marshall!
Lmfao you and the pigeons never get old, god that is so fun y
🐦 It’s what’s not for dinner. 😂
Have you looked into getting some kind of waste (wood or rubber?) that you can chip or grind up to put in your high traffic areas? In the Forest Service we use timber mats or rubber mats made from old tires for the logging equipment to drive over wet spots. Just some ideas. Cheers and thx for the video!
We mostly use gravel and crushed rock
Well look at the bright side. It appears it's good timing for you to be home from college right now. Just a few videos ago your dad was saying this is the time of year that he could use help.
we have been putting wood chips down . no more mud in the pins we put the chips in hope the info helps
Drone is the mooove
Your Dad is fast🙂
Have y’all ever thought of doing a mono slope building to raise your heifers and steers
Don't overcook em Cole. Did you rotate em to get those grill mark's? I like mine medium. Man, I'll bet you got some tasty darn steaks.
wow those steaks looked soo good. :)
Nice music !
Glad you like it!
Thats funny watching you try to get them Pigeons. Try an old goose shotgun real long reach....
I'd been screaming and running the other way. It was me
Um that's some good shooting ! Lucky birds !
you asking me or telling me, pa says: whats the difference
ITS GOTTA BE GREEN
Do you use arrowhead maternity pen? If so what do think of it?
That momma is going “you wanna be a UA-cam star? Put that camera on the top rail hit record and come in here try to move my calf......, and I will make ya famous!” Hehehehe
You two are kinda jumpy!
I think he is shooting blanks at those pigeons.
I like when you drone it shows everything nice babies that MoMA was gona get your dad lol silly man's going to get his boot stuck one of these times
Might try a pigeon trap cuz I don’t think your shotgun shoots straight. Lol. Have you tried a different choke? Full choke FTW
Semi load of lime would make the mud next to the shed nice and hard.
Nice Nice Nice
I didn't see much gravel in your gravel.
Check out Joseph Carter the Mink Man to see how to get rid of the rats. Lol
What about wood chips
I will be the first to admit I do not know about drainage pipes but would they work in some of your wettest pens?
I would think so
how many heads of cattle you guys have
just a question would it not help if you install a lot of drainage tiles in your feedlots
Probably
Hi cole I’ve been thinking how to get those birds. Hang a net in door way to slow em down to shoot em
Was that a little girl I saw screaming and dancing a jig cause of a rat? Hehe, I'm just teasing 🙂
You guys need to solve your water problem around that feed lot. Concrete works but you have to scrape it. It is so flat there I don't know how you can drain it useless you catch basins and underground drainage .But there is no fall useless you pump the water
Cole those pigeons are fast looked like you were dead on them and yeah think would go with concrete and than put a roof over it.
Do you guys give colostrum to every calf when its born, or just let it get colostrum from the cow?
Gets it from the cow!
Couldn't you use the drone to hunt calves?
You screamed like a little girl... That was hilarious!
The sights on that shotgun are obviously off. you should get that ...calibrated. 😏
Sonne seemed depressed in the ranger
Start with concrete then you can build on top of concrete slab👍
Why are the calves born in the winter?
They're already inside the sheds, nice and close to the yard incase if problems while calving, calves are generally sold at 2 years old when they're a bit fatter and demand for cattle is always best in spring as it's when the grass starts growing
Watching your videos I said to myself that I was glad we haven't had a pigeon in over ten years... yesterday morning two showed up, today there were three... what the hell?
I must have scared them over to ya
Those pigeons must want to live real bad!
IF you had a roof do need concrete you know. Its the slippery slope all over again.
You GUYS ARE to COOL for SCHOOL....maybe try ninja and Blow gun or get some clay pidgons call it good....just kidding live close to Sturgis never miss your I tubes Dads a star you an it bad....keep doing what ya DO....thanks
i think some practice at the range with that shotgun is called for ...
That grain bin is going to have a bunch of holes in it close the shed up and get them birds with a BB gun
It’s gotta be the pressure of being on camera why you are missing those pigeons
cats/raccoons don't dine on pigeons?
@@CurrentChoices Raccoons are not meat eaters.
@@briansonne814 they eat plenty of my kittens 😭
Are you feeding them cows copper? End off ears are orange means a copper deficiency 🤙
Some were born when it was cold and they tips of the ears freeze.
Sonne Farms o wow cheers for that I’m from the uk and are weather isn’t that bad. Normally when a cow has orange tips on its ears it has a lack of copper
*feeds newborn calf a Dakota Gold pellet-------> turns into a finished cattles
RATS! You aren't shooting blanks are you? PIGEONS! Hope you're using HavaHearts on those raccoons! AAHhahaha
If you think pigeons are bad…. Ravens in the barn is horrible…We had a pair of ravens….When they make poo…it’s like when a cow poops..
yikes
hi
Howdy
