People go to college to get education like this. Mark, you are an amazing human! Can NOT thank you enough for everything that you do. 🙏🏼 Happy holidays 🎉
He mentioned the most important thing right away: "...the headlines are terrifying." And that's all this is about. Everything is designed to terrify you and let fear cloud your judgement.
My read was the exact opposite, we have 10-20 years to handle it and bitcoin developers are already on it. What's the problem. ?? I think you have to watch the whole thing.
My read was the exact opposite, we have 10-20 years to handle it and bitcoin developers are already on it. What's the problem. ?? I think you have to watch the whole thing.
lol this is the same defence I hear from all bitcon ppl. Wrong. Bitcoin will be the biggest single target due to its market cap as ONE single asset. Everything else is millions/billions of small accounts to be hacked etc (small potatoes) when compared to bitcon. So yes Bitcoiners should be very afraid…reminder…precious metals can’t be hacked. As long as Bitcoin market cap stays this high it will forever be a target and the hackers only have to crack it ONCE for it to be ALL OVER! No thanks…I like to sleep at night
Flip side is, the same quantum computing will create a far more formidable defenses against its power as well. It amazes me that people can only think one sided.
Thanks for continuing updates I'd rather trade the stock market as it's more profitable. I make an average of $34,500 per week even though I barely trade myself.
Brilliant argument! I'm so glad that I invested in Bitcoin. A suggestion for your video: please place your camera so Mark's head is not blocked by a light fixture hanging from the ceiling. For me, watching Mark and the material on his board is enough and I don't need constant switching from one viewpoint to another. Thank you.
Excellent break down in this video, a logical qubit is able to account for error correction when using Shor's algorithm. Let's not even get started on the sheer amount of power it would require to power millions of qubits.
the existing bitcoin protocol "might" be at risk of quantum computing hacks in approximately 10 yrs from now. by then , the bright minds of btc miners / node operators and btc community in general would have already developed counter measures. something is already at work at the moment. bitcoin protocol being hacked is the least of all worries when compare to national security, classified information, IRS, nuclear launch code.... etc.
Whatever can be used to attack can also be used to defend, whether it's classic or quantum computers it's easier to generate a random private key than it is to randomly guess it, the biggest impact this will have is all the "lost" bitcoin that will still be in old wallets generated by classic computers will be brought back into circulation
I cannot believe how many Bitcoiners are claiming that Bitcoin is not a target simply because there are other targets. That is a dismissive and beyond ridiculous argument.

Militaries Quantum computers is definitely a treat to all systems. Willow is not the only quantum computer that exists. Our friend is only doing the guessing . No system is 100% secure.
As a matter of fact all encrypted data right now is probably being harvested so that when Quantum computers break encryption they will be able to decrypt the harvested data.
If I've had the quantum computers ability in my power, cracking Bitcoins encryptions is the last thing I would do. Actually if it's true, it would not only threats on BTC but in every aspects of our life.
No he’s saying it would fork to a more secure hash protocol if we could see a potential breach coming, or we would rewind and fork if we were caught off guard. Either way Bitcoin is safe. That’s what he’s saying if you actually listened.
No matter how much hard work the people of other countries do, they still can't earn money equal to Europeans. I am talking about the majority of the people of a country, not a single person (GDP per capita). The top 50 richest countries in GDP per capita are European countries or oil-rich countries. The real reason Europeans occupy all of North America, South America, Australia, and New Zealand, controlling almost 50% of the world's area and natural resources. Now, some will give examples of: - The Korean Economic Miracle, - The Japanese Economic Miracle, - And the Taiwan Economic Miracle. But in reality, no miracle happened. After World War II, Japan received $23 billion in aid, and Korea received $13 billion from America-these amounts are much higher in today’s value, though the exact numbers are unclear. Japan, Korea, and Taiwan became rich by becoming slaves of America (Europeans). These countries provided military bases to America and followed the same foreign policy as Europeans (for example, when the U.S. sanctioned Russia, Japan also sanctioned Russia). In exchange, America gave them prosperity through money, aid, technology transfer, factory setups, etc. For example, Taiwan is a small island country with a population of 10 million, but still, Taiwan is rich because of semiconductors. How did semiconductors come to Taiwan? Because of the USA. RCA (Radio Corporation of America) set up its semiconductor factory in Taiwan in: - 1966 (initially as a joint venture) - 1970 (as a wholly-owned subsidiary, RCA Taiwan Ltd.)
There is a theory called “Security thru Obsolescence”. So great you have quantum computer, but what if the interface/log-in is FOREVER a conventional computer. Your log-in attempts are capped by the interface/log-in computer. If you want to try 10x10^30 log-ins….guess what? It’s going to take thousands of years! => Security by Obsolescence…!!!
Who cares about willow's quantum chip.. you think the best cryptographers and computer scientists in the world are going to let that happen? You think the miners and the Bitcoin community with tens and hundreds billions in capital is going to sit back like you and let that happen? 😂 They will be the first to have quantum miners and anti quantum cryptography. Good luck
If quantum computing becomes a threat to Bitcoin then it will be a threat to every bank account and all other financial systems as well as anything accessible on line on the planet?
Currently as of 01/11/25 Atom Computing has one of the most powerful systems. it has 1,180 qubits. This is public knowledge but I'm sure that the government and defense sectors have quantum computers that are already more powerful that.
Thanks for the update, keep up the good work.Learned a lot from my market journey, especially the importance of living within one's means. With Mark Hutchison guidance, my nest egg has grown to a 7-figure sum. My advice - get an analyst for better financial trade decisions and peace of mind.
But NIST already finalized Post Quantum standard selection of 3 algos that are unbreakable by current computers and Quantum algos. There are already open source implementation for the standard put forward. Bitcoin will have to move to these soon and everything else that uses current RSA and AES will to. Next 5 years...
Both. ECDSA for wallets and sha-256 for protocol. Wallet part probably has to be done first follow by either a soft fork or hard fork of bitcoin protocol verification.
Dear Mark, All that a hacker with QC will need to do is to apply reverse process to generate a private key from a wallet address…. In a few minutes (may be not even that long), boom 🤯 your Bitcoin is gone. This reverse process takes infinitely long time using traditional CPU hardware but QC will change that game if in the wrong hands.
People go to college to get education like this. Mark, you are an amazing human! Can NOT thank you enough for everything that you do. 🙏🏼

If a computer can hack Bitcoin protocol, that would be the least of our problems
Exactly 😂
Lol, and yet Bitcoin advocates say Bitcoin should be the world's reserve currency. But it's not a target for hackers? Are you delusional?
Wise and true words. May the odds be ever in our favor.
lol this is the same defence I hear from all bitcon ppl.

Thanks Mark. Excellent as always.
Brilliantly explained as always. Keep it real, Mark 💪
Another Banger Mark!! 💪👍
I was hoping for this video -- look forward to watching it in a bit.
This is the first explanation of decentralized that clicked in my brain. I FINALLY get it! Thank you!
Mark - your videos are so helpful and your expertise and willingness to share are much appreciated. Happy holidays
Always teaching us something new! Thank you 🙏🏽
Flip side is, the same quantum computing will create a far more formidable defenses against its power as well. It amazes me that people can only think one sided.
Problem is that currently that quantum power is only in the hands of the few.

Though I will need to watch this 7 times to educate the hamsters, it is awesome analysis and excellent teaching. Well done Mark
I cannot believe how many Bitcoiners are claiming that Bitcoin is not a target simply because there are other targets. That is a dismissive and beyond ridiculous argument.
Probably easier for these quantum computers to hack ordinary bank accounts, credit cards or any kind of financial services rather than Bitcoin.

Yes it is a threat to everything. Money and how we value it and how it’s exchanged for goods and services is about to change. We are entering era
I'll simplify it Willow will not break bitcoin because after a few attempts it will get locked out usually after 3 attempts so we are safe LOL
I’m more concerned about politics like what the IMF is doing with El Salvador. I would like to see Mark weigh in on this.
I don’t understand why a faster way to compute would be a threat to bitcoin; bitcoin doesn’t have an OS.
It would make it more efficient imo

A decade away, meanwhile the BTC devs developing more security. A zero threat
