Man, one thing I learn from your work and something that I forgot is that I need to practice and experiment more for my own portfolio. I go from one job to the other just doing what the client wants. That could be the goal for 2021. Greetings from Costa Rica
I learned this and always have to remind myself. Clients are obviously great because they pay the bills but they typically want you to play it safe with their work and every-time I create for myself I learn so much more because I am able to experiment and push the boundaries of what Im creating without any worries. I always create for yourself if filmmaking is your passion!
@@AustenPaul "creating without worries" that's the golden nugget. Yeah, I'm gonna restart the lab and make something just for me. ✌️✌️✌️Keep it good as always Austen.
thanks, already a new detailed tutorial ! I really liked (and was surprised by) the chemical pancakes ! I'll think about it next time I shoot some food ! Can't wait for your next video :)
I love the way Austen gets through an entirely productive presentation and I don't have to listen to "epic, cinematic, B roll" even one time. It's very refreshing, having watched three segments so far.
Great video! I've went back through all of your old videos and I'm still sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the 4/4 video on the popcorn edit. Go ahead, take your time. I'll be waiting right here . . .
@@AustenPaul Your content is great - really cool to see your channel grow in 2020. I was inspired by your "make your own food vids" that I made a fun video on my channel with Chick-Fil-A and the probe lens. Had decent results. Keep the content coming man, love it.
I love watching your videos. Really liked the end product here with pancakes. Music was perfect! My only negative reaction was when the pancake mix was being “poured” from the box. I thought it looked like projectile vomit. To my eye the angle was so off.
I really adore this, and also the style of it! It looks very natural and atmospheric, your kitchen looks great (better for this than top-grade kitchens as far as I’m concerned because this is more relatable and cozy) and it feels like you’re telling a consistent story. This is just really awesome, I’m glad I found this video. Thank you for making it!
Thanks for a great video! I was wondering if there is a filmmaking reason for the almond milk like the motor oil instead of syrup or if it's just because it's what you drink.
A really really detailed educative tutorial, for sure I have learnt some good stuff from this tutorial. Thanks for sharing your creativity, your inspiration motivates me to learn more from you. Yes I have subscribed.
Hi Austen. Thanks for the fantastic videos. So much to learn from them. I was wondering how you kept focus on that last shot? Didn't look like you were pulling focus, and auto tends to get moments of breathing for those types of shots. It's something that I've been trying to improve for a while, but am hitting a bit of a barrier. Thanks
It was auto focus it really depends on the lens I was using a 35 in that shot it there is lot less breathing with that, also it’s more noticeable if you are ditching mid shot from one object to focus on to the next this was all on the pancakes
This channel is so damn underated. You deserve well over 100000x the subs and views you get! Thanks so so much for this video! The boom trick was fantastic
Great lighting Techniques man! It’s not always about the gear, this proved it thx AP.! Special props the Kendall for making all those pancakes btw lol she got down you lucky dog
Great video once again, thanks :) By the way I don't know if it matters to you but I can tell you're reading off a prompter from your eye movements... :)) you might try placing it further. Peace
HI, I'm a fans from China, will be appreciate if you can share more about postproduction on each video, like in this one I'd like to learn how you do the color adjustment, thank you.
Your videos are just so good!! What i want to say is that be more personal instead of becoming fully informational, tell some funny jokes and stuff.. then ur subscriber count will increase
Awesome tutorial Austen, fun to watch! We did a similar c-stand spin shot back in film school, but on Arri 35mm, such a fool proof setup! Now I've spent enough of my life making fake ice cubes, it's time to start making these! Thanks for the effort 🔥
@@AustenPaul Oh yeah, and it's so easy to capture that pour or spin shot every time! Anyways, love working with natural light, so this was fun to watch! Catch you on the next one!

Great tutorial & tips! Learning how to shape and diffuse the sun is so essential.
Yes 100 percent and also give people hope that you dont need a bunch of gear!

So good! Can you link to that huge diffuser?
Let me look it up and I’ll put it in my kit later tonight!
@Austen Paul Hi can you please tell what are those roller skate things especially the one you used for going around the bowl?
