Was also surprised to find out earlier Rastas were against very early reggae(Marley Tosh Bunny). This elder has a diplomatic, sensible take on it, especially after 5:00, seeing how reggae made rastas world famous, while recognizing there are those Bobo Shanti who apparently still "bun fire" on the genre, despite Capleton and Sizzla .

Maybe depends on location. I say this because the vegan /plant based /raw/fruitarian movement as we know it to be today especially in the black community got it footing from the Rastafarian movement
      Also the marijuana movement
Afrobeat the wearing of the locs among other things

No that's not true. Capleton was the first before Junior Reid. Capleton in 1994 was the first to deejay about Emmanuel and though he was growing his locs in that time and wasn't wearing the turban he was the first. Junior Reid in 1994 wasn't wearing turban and he didn't convert to Bobo Shanti until late 1995 or early 1996. As a matter of fact Determine was deejaying about Emmanuel in 1994 as well. Capleton first, Determine second, Anthony B third, Junior Reid fourth and Sizzla was the last who really made an impact.

Brethren, whether other races or traditions or cultures play their interpretation of reggae does not devalue the genre in any way. Rasta is not the only tradition that wears locks or turbans and those other uses and users do not dilute the Rasta expressions. Those are magical thoughts that manipulating a symbol can affect the subject. Sticking a pin in reggae will not kill it. Anglicans playing Nyabinghi style in their churches will not make it Anglican and not Rastafari music. Count Ossie, who claims to have defined the drumming identified as Nyabinghi also sees it as the foundation of reggae through pieces in the late 1950s like Oh Carolina.

He said in the exact words that Capelton came to the Hon. Rt Emmanuel Charles Edwards if he could use his name in a song. He did not say the E.A.B.I.C.
People don’t know who or what that is. They doan know what Bobo Ashanti is either. The artist his named that wears Turbans(Mitre) they know nothing about.
