Great info here. I just bought my first digital system with walksnail on Thanksgiving eve. I could not afford 200+ dollar goggles and instead bought a gaming monitor with 144 Hz refresh rate. I have been piloting from inside my car to fend off the cold new england wind, so I hope the LCD monitor is bright enough inside the car. On the 144 Hz monitor, I notice that the monitor itself says that refresh rate is 100 Hz and walksnail delay is 23-29 ms, faster than yours at 37 ms.
The original walksnail antenna have higher gain. The signal is more directional.not a even donut like other omnis. Also the beam has lots of small nulls. Stock is around 3dbi.
I remember a long time ago JB and Trappy(TBS) had a disagreement, JB reviewed thier pro 32 hv and put it on the immersion RC power meter, he used a generic pigtail he had laying around and got poor results. After a bit of back and forth JB tried it with a TBS pigtail and the results were much better. Also i just pull the retaining clip off antennas that come with them if the clip doesn't fit and haven't had any issues.
Very usefull! I have a diatone thick pigtail to lhcp sma true rc matchstic and i dont go the distance, but in flying the v3 vtx mix cameras and the v2 vtx, the only time ive suffured the stutter thing is wlith the pigtail, may the ohms ?
Do you face them all slightly different directions. I like that for range in a certain direction. I test it this way in order to still be able to fly all around myself a bit more. Although it does still suffer behind myself despite the omnis
try some True RC antennas. rushfpv v1 were designed by truerc and were decent, the v2 antennas they decided to clone it best they could and not pay licence fee and are hit and miss. also make sure you have a patch on the rx/tx connector on the goggles.
It might well help. I did find ufl to SMA adapters a bit hard to come by. If only Walksnail used an MMCX connector (and I wish they would - I don't know whyone that likes ufls) we'd have a lot more range
I enjoy flying long range on DJI and I would never use a ufl to sma pigtail. Too much loss! All my friends I fly with that use one never came fly as far as I do before losing signal! 😂 The best antennas for digital are by Rush, FlyfishRC, and DJI (for O3). You can remove the ufl lock if you are careful
@@tmc-fpv that albatross is super delicate, as only a moderate impact will put it out of tune. It's an open air element in the housing. I have also gone quite far on one, but the adapter setup always introduces more variables.
Yes - as seen on the end of the video, I did remove the ufl lock. That said, I think ufl's for antennas is awful. They are so ridiculously delivate. Could all manufactorers please use MMCX's instead!
I can't understand why you'd have such a poor signal at a mere kilometer....Walksnail has been out to 50 kms and more....What antenna setup do you have on your goggles?...Im using TrueRC 2 patches and 2 Omnis....🤔😳🇬🇧

The 16-inch gaming monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate costs 96 dollars.
Awesome testing and comparison, Wayne! 😃
Thanks!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Cheers MC
Very interesting. Thank you for posting, and please do keep posting :)
Thanks, will do!
Nice testing and pretty nice place for the test.
Cheers. It's not quite as nice in the winter when it looks more like a lake :D

It might have higher gain, but they look very bad in flight tests.

the biggest upgrade is to put 4 patches on the goggles ,, i use the Dominator HDs and have a 4 patch front plate ,, soo much range

@@CurryKitten its really a none issue the patches seem to work better every where there is a great video on it ill find it \

I did not know that. I'll see what i can get hold of
I wonder if a pigtail made from rg316 would help. Those cheap little black wire pigtails are garbage. Useful info though.

I've flown to 15km with a walksnail 1s vtx (350mw) using a 20cm ufl to sma pigtail and a 15cm albatross antenna.

I've got MenanceRC stuff on the goggles. The stock stuff was absolute bobbins
