Her mother's death may have added to her trauma, as she may not accept that she's the one who killed her. She might live out the rest of her life crying out for her mother. Poor baby.
This is a tragic situation for everyone involved. If she ever gets better, she may actually feel the full force of the remorse of what she'd done, and will live with that for the rest of her life. Mental disorders are serious killers if untreated... Nothing was ever proven about the abuse ... unless you count abuse as her being passed back and forth between her parents, from a very young age, like a burden ... which I would say is emotional and psychological neglect, if not abuse.
