    What I love about this is you could have one really great camera for the master and a bunch of not so great cameras for A,B,C, cameras. So your master camera does the really important detail shots and theo other cameras are just coverage. And these other cameras don't have to be amazing. If you're delivering in 1080p you could use a bunch of old iPhones shooting in 1080p for a bunch of weird angles and wide's to compliment the master.

    Casey, not only did this tut show how to match cameras it demonstrated time after time the steps in changing color composition. It does a great job of showing how the tools work. Great video.

    *Thank you!* The first video I've seen where scopes are used whilst explaining what they do. The amount of videos out there using scopes but not actually saying why, or how they are useful. Now I finally understand.

    Crazy useful! The amount of time i've spent buggering about trying to match cameras, this method makes so much more sense! Question; when you're adding a curves adjustment, does that not undo some of what you've done with your lift-gamma-gain??

    • @CaseyFaris
      @CaseyFaris  6 років тому

      mmm you could I guess, but I'm really just adding contrast. You could do similar things using the contrast slider I guess.

    3D tracker: wonderful tutorial and IMHO it is because it is very technical. Some engineer types like myself love to glimpse the deeper layers. These are the erector-set building blocks that make stuff work. Where do you get your in-depth knowledge, say, of the meaning of those sometimes cryptic parameter names??? Professional seminars??? BlackMagic insider training??? Can't be simply years of experience because there is too much to explore and learn on a hit or miss basis. Lovin' it. Thanks for all the hard work. Mike

    Excellent content Casey! What do you do to footage shot on the same camera, say a webcam, where any small shift in focus can affect the colour and lighting balance momentarily?

    As always, excelent video Casey.
    But I have a request. Something like this, match shots of different cameras but in different situations.
    For example, one camera is doing a shot of someone riding a bike in a park, another camera is in the same park but looking for other direction with people walking in the park...
    It would be nice see a video about match shots like this.
    Thx one more time for this video :D

  • @renatozanardo9648
    @renatozanardo9648 6 років тому

    Hi Casey, surely the best way is to use parade, vectroscope and other, but a function called color match, it would not be a bad idea in DaVinci. Anyway I have a question: I use parade at pourpose adjusting contrast and color before exporting, but when i look the exported file in Quicktime, the result is different from what I see in the viewer od DVR; is also different using VLC, or, if I import a job from After Effect is different from the viewer of After Effect. Which viewer should I believe?

    • @CaseyFaris
      @CaseyFaris  6 років тому

      That's the age-old question. Basically you need to believe the scopes and a properly calibrated monitor. Sometimes quicktime or vlc will mess with colors a bit, which is super frustrating. I trust the monitor in Resolve if it's on a calibrated display.

    It's better to explain the use of a tool by using footage and cases like this than explaining tools ony by one.. All I need now is messing around with them to understand what tool should i grab for particular case in next project..

    ... more on longer, more complex tutorials: love long form shows: the best of these are so full of information that one MUST view them several times to catch all the necessary details. In the end, this detail is not an option when you need stuff to work. Snooze, you loose. UA-cam these days is no longer just for beginners, IMHO.
