I agree that the big mistake a lot of groups made was songs that didn't play to their strengths. I watched some practices and some of them were noticeably better . So I guess nerves or just bad days got some of them
I especially feel for the G group, having to do the whole thing in another language. I do think it looks like they're being held to unfair standards though. They're being treated like they're all supposed to be all rounders, all top singers and all top dancers... but some of them are rappers not singers and we've seen plenty of idols debut before they could do everything, as long as they stood out doing SOMETHING.
That is so true about all of them be judged as all rounders! Some idols who have trained for some years still struggle. Especially like you said with G-group singing in a language they’re not their primary language. You can say mnet is trying to train the best of best trainees. Even still these survival shows are not based on talent, they’re popularity contest.
honestly if you think about it too they're sitting there for more than 24 hours without eating, drinking, or sleeping and still having to perform so them performing like that is already incredible. According to ziyin from girls planet, she wasn't allowed to drink at all except for 1 tiny spit before she went on stage, and the theme song took 2 consecutive days to film!
I realized that my fav performance is K- group Wakeonez (The real) All 5 of them are so good. They were really crazy all-rounders: taerae's high note, lee junghyeon's rap, Phanbin 's amazing dance skills and legendary MunJung's CHEOTTOROGAYO♡︎ I'm really obsessed with watching this performance every day
K-trainees did so well most of the group speak hard. But, I like perfomance with individuality and put personality into the performance. So, my personal top 3 pick is: 1. G- group Yuehua. Zhenghao, Ollie, Ricky, Brian. 2. G-group, Indipendent. Seok Matthew. 3. G-group. American. Jay and Kamden
My rank 1 is the USA duo, Jay has a really good voice and was also upset when they cut Kamden's rap. The two made such a good collaboration. And I didn't even know Zihao dances like that, I just thought he did well dancing the signal song because I first noticed him there. All in all, I think mnet did so well in making the G-trainees look less talented or lacking a lot 🙄 Like bro, they're generally so good.
the rewatch value is rly high thoo- also seung eon’s vocals & yujin’s aura definitely elevated their performance to the next level, which rightfully earned that top spot 👍

I think the top 3 really depends on which aspect is more important to the viewer. As for me, I would focus more on vocals and rap which is why I'd rank them like this: 1. G-Group America 2. K-Group Lee Hoetaek (maybe I'm biased bc its Hui but idc it's my ranking) 3. K-Group YueHua Ent. Really appreciate how you aren't just bullying them tho. You're actually giving criticism and acknowledging their potential.

My favourites were: Jay (amazing vocals), Dang Hong Hai (I loved his smooth dance), Hanbin (perfect performance), Zhang Hao (amazing), Matthew (so good) and Krystian (very stable and I agree, carried the performance) And there was something funny and cool with Bak Doah performance.

I agree! Tbh though for the first performance I was a bit upset since no one got a 4 star. Like they performed so well, and I understand the vocal part but Gunwook was stable throughout the entire performance. Anyways though, it was the very first performance and that can be a disadvantage. Rooting for their debut!
At least right now, it doesn't seem like these boys suffered a lot of what the girls did during their auditions. I agree with your entire ranking and what you thought about them. I'm hoping to see them all get better and be able to do better in whatever they end up doing! I probably won't watch the epis but the performances.
I personally wouldn't put K group's first cause it really lacks vocals for me, more than half of the performance are just dance break. My top 3 would be Rush Hour, The Real and Nunu Nana.
I agree with everything you said (except I'd probably replace Nunu Nana with Shut Down in my top 3). As a person who values vocals way higher than other positions, K group's Kick It was a bit lackluster for me. Seungeon was amazing on the high note, of course, but the others shared a line (or half a line) each and then just danced the rest of the time whereas G group's (hate to compare, but) was more well-rounded and everyone had a fair amount of lines. But I know tastes are subjective, so there's no real right or wrong list. I enjoyed watching this ranking video!
my opinion 1. Hui is the best singer on the show, followed by taerae and jay(he a on a totally different style, he will bring freshness to the group he debuts with). And personally I LOVE Cong's tone. 2. Kuan Rui best dancer on the show, followed by many, this season had some very good dancers like both hanbins haruto gunwoon kamden etc 3. I dont know who the best rapper is, even the final lineup is devoid of one, i think gunwook or jiwoong will take up the rapper position. 4. I totally dont like the final lineup cause it was obvious that shanbin Matthew jiwoong gyuvin and yujin will debut since like the second ep. taerae became obvious after like some 4th ep. ricky and gunwook are ig the only ones who got into the final line without much of mnets help. zhanghao is an Emporer lol, he had a very huge fanbase, wish his BFF got a fanbase too, we rui fans were too less:(
Yeah it sucks, the networks can edit this show and make someone look good or bad and decide what to show to the people! The fact that Ricky made it into the group chat as already an accomplishment on the fans part, bcuz it didn’t seem like mnet wanted him in the lineup
lol at first what i saw the full stage i was furious over mnet for cutting off kamden! then that frustrated shifted towards jay as for some episodes he got some limelight and kamden got none. but then jay started getting completely ignored by mnet and then i forgot about him and just focused on kamden. then came the over me stage and boy did jay kill those vocals! now i want both of them to debut together. kamjay!
btw shine performance had and practiced w 6 members (hyo, toui and another trainee) but mnet cut the other 3 out of the performance, didn’t let them perform and sent the remaining 3 on with only an hour to practice the abridged version of the performance

I agree with you for most of the performance. For me yuehua k was the only difference; I didn't rank that performance as no.1. It was in my top 10 though. They are all good but I guess the song didn't attracted me that much.
I'm sure all the boys could have gave their best performace if they were the once choosing the song for themselves however i think mnet just doesn't like all the trainees so they gave them unsuitable songs for other contestants.

Well I’m not an expert but from what I hear, like trainees on survival programs like this and early debuts usually the companies style them. Then a couple years later down the road they get more control. That’s why you hear older artist not liking their earlier styles they had in their career!

I never insinuated that they had a choice in their songs. I said for some the songs they performed, it didn’t fit them well. If Mnet had forced them to preform these songs it would be very wrong, but I don’t know for sure and I won’t assume.

Yeah they did the g group trainees dirty. However, I’m not too shocked with their track record! So much talent, but it isn’t shown fully unfortunately
Zi Hao was traineed by Lay (EXO) himself in krumping, so that's why he's quite a good dancer.
I wouldn't put K's Kick It first because there were some vocal issues, but I was impressed with Gyuvin's spunk and I'll definitely be rooting for him.

At least right now, it doesn't seem like these boys suffered a lot of what the girls did during their auditions. I agree with your entire ranking and what you thought about them. I'm hoping to see them all get better and be able to do better in whatever they end up doing! I probably won't watch the epis but the performances.

I personally wouldn't put K group's first cause it really lacks vocals for me, more than half of the performance are just dance break. My top 3 would be Rush Hour, The Real and Nunu Nana.
I agree with everything you said (except I'd probably replace Nunu Nana with Shut Down in my top 3). As a person who values vocals way higher than other positions, K group's Kick It was a bit lackluster for me. Seungeon was amazing on the high note, of course, but the others shared a line (or half a line) each and then just danced the rest of the time whereas G group's (hate to compare, but) was more well-rounded and everyone had a fair amount of lines.
But I know tastes are subjective, so there's no real right or wrong list. I enjoyed watching this ranking video!
my opinion
1. Hui is the best singer on the show, followed by taerae and jay(he a on a totally different style, he will bring freshness to the group he debuts with). And personally I LOVE Cong's tone.
2. Kuan Rui best dancer on the show, followed by many, this season had some very good dancers like both hanbins haruto gunwoon kamden etc
3. I dont know who the best rapper is, even the final lineup is devoid of one, i think gunwook or jiwoong will take up the rapper position.
4. I totally dont like the final lineup cause it was obvious that shanbin Matthew jiwoong gyuvin and yujin will debut since like the second ep. taerae became obvious after like some 4th ep. ricky and gunwook are ig the only ones who got into the final line without much of mnets help. zhanghao is an Emporer lol, he had a very huge fanbase, wish his BFF got a fanbase too, we rui fans were too less:(
Yeah it sucks, the networks can edit this show and make someone look good or bad and decide what to show to the people! The fact that Ricky made it into the group chat as already an accomplishment on the fans part, bcuz it didn’t seem like mnet wanted him in the lineup

lol at first what i saw the full stage i was furious over mnet for cutting off kamden! then that frustrated shifted towards jay as for some episodes he got some limelight and kamden got none. but then jay started getting completely ignored by mnet and then i forgot about him and just focused on kamden. then came the over me stage and boy did jay kill those vocals! now i want both of them to debut together. kamjay!

btw shine performance had and practiced w 6 members (hyo, toui and another trainee) but mnet cut the other 3 out of the performance, didn’t let them perform and sent the remaining 3 on with only an hour to practice the abridged version of the performance

Ngl having “Attention” at 27 is a bit arguable. I mean they made it so it would more likely for boys(and i genuinely don’t care, but koreans tv shows do) and i also liked it. I mean Seowon was good thats about it
Totally see where you’re coming from. For me Attention is one of my fave songs and the way they changed it didn’t really suit my taste. And your right I did rewatch it again after wards and I admit he did do well!
I agree with you for most of the performance. For me yuehua k was the only difference; I didn't rank that performance as no.1. It was in my top 10 though. They are all good but I guess the song didn't attracted me that much.

I'm sure all the boys could have gave their best performace if they were the once choosing the song for themselves however i think mnet just doesn't like all the trainees so they gave them unsuitable songs for other contestants.

Well I’m not an expert but from what I hear, like trainees on survival programs like this and early debuts usually the companies style them. Then a couple years later down the road they get more control. That’s why you hear older artist not liking their earlier styles they had in their career!

Actually I see where your coming from! I remember before the show Anthonny but also Hiroto as well, ranking so high and have so much hype!! The lack of screen time is ridiculous and the ranking drop is showing it. Sucks some trainees can get up to 10 min , but your faves get none

I never insinuated that they had a choice in their songs. I said for some the songs they performed, it didn’t fit them well. If Mnet had forced them to preform these songs it would be very wrong, but I don’t know for sure and I won’t assume.
