    My late aunt used to ride Trailways from Philadelphia to DC...I was in awe watching those Eagles leave the station on New York avenue

      Same here! When we would send grandma off from Port Authority in NYC to Rocky Mt NC on that humongous Silver Eagle. As a kid, it was like watching a space ship on wheels rolling out!

    I use to ride on Continental Trailways Eagle buses from Beaumont, Texas to Eldorado, Arkansas to visit my grandmother in the 70's as a kid. Man those memories can't be bought. And a lot of those buses had standard transmissions in them.

    Sadly, the doors of Silver Eagle Bus Manufacturing did close - but not for lack of effort, determination & 8 years invested in bringing back this iconic bus. The reasons were varied but ultimately, lack of adequate funding and the nation's economic climate between 2008-2012 forced the closure.
    There were many incredible supporters that gave funds, moral support and lent their own professional talents. Knowing these amazing people was the best part of the journey. They made the most painful, unfounded gossip, bearable.
    We were American dreamers, bringing our experience, talent and financial investment to bring this great bus back to the market. There were no scams, illegal activity perpetrated by the founders. (By the way, the Petsmart issue mentioned in comments above was the other way around. They sent a saddle rack design created by Craig Hanloh to be manufactured in another country. He was the small business owner trampled by a large corporation.)
    We put everything we had into Silver Eagle Bus, failed, closed the doors and started over with nothing. We put one foot in front of the other and go on, just like most of you. Fear of verbal attack has kept us quiet but for those of you that stood by us, we are standing up to say "thank you" for the experience. Sometimes failure just depends on one's perspective. We met amazing people during the journey.

      Robin Hanloh Dear Robin, I have had the Honor of speaking and dealing with Craig. He was The up most gentleman ever. I spoke to him on the phone a couple of times, and was shocked to find out that I was speaking to the co-owner of this company. Please forward my love and prayers to Craig for me. I have been on an unwanted vacation for the last 4 years. I was hoping to see Eagles running all over the country again. I am truly hurt for our losses.

    During the mid-2000’s an Eagle revival under the name of Silver Eagle Bus Manufacturing Inc. got started. The venture was undercapitalized and went bankrupt a few years later as it was unable to pay its creditors. They produced one Model 25 conversion shell of their own design and one 37 foot long Model 20 that may never have been fully completed.

    Opinionatedguy1989, the Silver Eagle Bus Mfg company is still moving forward. Slowly but surely a good thing comes to those who wait, is what you can of this under taking. They said that we will not be disappointed in the long run.

    I believe, that Setra design the orignal Golden Eagles, so we may not have Eagle any more, but it's creater, is still around. I was happly that there was a chance to buy a brand new Eagle 15 in the late 2000s. I was look forwared, to seeing Eagle 25s on the road. Also the fact that they were going to put CAT engines, in the new Eagles, which would have made them real mountain climbers.

    i just checked their website. 3 years strong. do the same guys still own eagle today or did it change hands yet again?

    Endangered species among buses? There are plenty of Silver Eagles (0-5s) still running around. The one that seems tough to find is the late 1960s Model 01! There is a scale model manufacturer willing to produce an 01 if only a decent prototype can be located and its dimensions blue printed.

    Hi,I gave Craig Hanlo the name of the Model 25 bus mainly because it followed the Model 20 and because it was to be manufactured in 2005.
    I met the people in Brownsville,Tx and having previously worked for Eagle they recruited me to work for them,even though I was given 1,000 shares of the company I never went to work for them. The fact of the matter was the torsiliastic manufacturer in Germany discontinued the product and in the US BF Goodrich discontinued the production of the torsilastic springs. Thus that killed the real Eagle manufacturer. This video was copied from the original Eagle promotional tape and was a sales tape. I sensed that this was a con job from the beginning and that was the end of that.

      This was never a con game but just another failed project to amass adequate investor capital. And actually you come across as a con gamer yourself without any prof of your allegations.

    Eagle buses were highly overrated. They’d rust out and the torsilastic suspensions were a joke. Sorry but quality was an issue with them. The mild steel frames just wouldn’t hold up to the road salt that the Northeast and rust belt uses. Musical groups made them famous but they didn’t have to hold up to 24/7 abuse in the harshest of conditions.

      What a lier you are. Of course the legendary Silver Eagles where and still are highest in quality and is the main reason music and tv entertainers sought them out -namely and precisely because of the torsilastic suspension. That’s why any and all Silver Eagles of any age are worth more than an equal aged MCI and Prevost, just search the internet especially Wikipedia and all the bus nut sites and museums. On thing less about the Silver Eagles where the failure of the company to change over to stainless steel for their framing as did the other bus makers when it became available. Also it took decades for the non stainless steel to begin rusting and that’s why they where still used for line haul service. Even New Jersey Transit ordered and ran over 120 Silver Eagle AE20’s right along with the MCI M9. And take this to the bank: A fresh new group of investor owners have already undertaken to bring back the Silver Eagle as: phoenixcoachglobal.com
