I listened to this when someone I really loved ended up leading me on for years, only to throw me away for some fucking loser and acted like she never did anything wrong to me. That was 6 years ago now. Every time I come back to it, it reminds me how far I have come and how beautiful and evocative the tracks are. Its stunning that Hiroshi is able to create such genre defining ambient music as well as piano tracks like this.
Takes me back to Japan summer of 2018. I was sleeping on the streets and in the back of my junk cars for two years straight. One day after finally just having enough of it all, I sold every last thing I still owned, and scraped up enough cash to head to Japan for three months. I balled too hard though and only ended up having enough cash to stay for two. I figured if I was gonna blow my brains out or neck myself that might as well go out balls to the wall. I had the greatest time of my life and met so many amazing and kind people. It restored my faith in human beings. I discovered this album the last week before I left. I couldn't stop listening to it. So thankful I discovered this guy and Fishmans during the trip. I found out Ryo Fukui had died two years before, and opted not to head to Sapporo. I regret that greatly. I hope to someday make it back there. It's such a beautiful and peaceful place. God bless Japan and the Japanese. I will climb Mt. Fuji the next time I visit, if that ever happens. God willing. I'd give up nearly anything to be that happy ever again.
The meaning of this story to me is, that when anyone is in their darkest possible place, there is still beauty, wonder and kindness ready and waiting for them, just outside their immediate field of vision.
THIS IS MY DREAM !!!! MAN, I wish I had the courage and desperation to do the same, I Love Japan !!!! This story moved me so hard now at the beginning of 2021 when one of my wishes is to go to Japan ! Ah but Courage can't be bought or created......!
Thinking of how I grew up in Japan, had chances to buy all his CDs and Vinyls when they were released and had missed out all of them makes me sad and mad. Then calming down listening to this.
She just released something in 2019 actually, in conjunction with long-time collaborator Yoshio Ojima & Visible Cloaks from the USA. i found myself in Hiroshi Yoshimura... is kind of a "therapy" between me and myself. does anyone knows where can i find out more about him and his music?
I'm just learning, but doesn't this "静けさの本" actually translate to something like "the origin of serenity/silence/calm"? Or is that a phrase used in Japanese for 'static'? Oh! Do you mean static as in stillness? Rather than static as in the static as in for example white noise? That translation then makes more sense! lol. Good to know(!)
