I can truly recommend the brand: It’s originating in the Eastern German Ruhla, a then well known manufacturer that simply struggled while the German unification. The Ruhla brand name was then more or less dropped for Junkers and Zeppelin that promised more international reach.
@@thewholecut de rien 😊👍 the entire story is more complex and is linked with the current brand owner. Btw. Ruhla still exists on a national basis and is adding its expertise to the global brands as e.g. zeppelin.
Nicely done review. Not sure whether I'd choose the 36 or the 40. I wish the bottom pusher was flush to the case like the upper pusher. I'm also not a fan of bowl-shaped cases, but this seems less pronounced in the 36mm size. Been eyeballing this one for a long time, might just go ahead and pull the trigger.
Thanks! I think it mostly depends on wrist size. My wrist is really small so I didn't really have a choice. And yeah the crystal makes the watch a bit thicker on the wrist but it will slip under a cuff. I managed to scuff mine and I don't even know how so that's something to bear in mind. It's still a charming little watch though and I don't regret purchasing it. There aren't many watches in this style you can buy for this sort of money. Cheers, Louis.
Quality video mate 👏I'm looking to buy this watch. It'll be the first (real) watch I've bought in adulthood. Debating between 40mm and 36mm. Most probably will go for the 36mm because I have 15.5cm wrist which is basically the same as yours and fits you well.
Quick question though. I don't know if I'm just being dumb... With the date complication, do you have to manually adjust it whenever the month has 30 days instead of 31?
Thanks! Yeah go for the 36 it’ll be perfect! And yes you do if you press the little pusher it advances the date by one day. Cheers!
my dad has this watch and the Zeppelin 7686-5 HAU, they are both beautiful IMO, ive been looking for a Zeppelin that catches my eye that my dad doesnt already have lol
@@thewholecut you just might of found the next watch that i want lol, i love that watch, hopefuly i can pull it off ,
Pretty sure this is labelled as a Gents only.
The second hands not hitting the markers would drive me mad, so for the same Money I would go to Sugess who do 2 different designs, one mechanical & the other Automatic and atleast one of them has lume on the dial. All for approx the same price.
✌️
Nah this one is definitely a ladies watch. The 40mm version is the gents watch. Which Sugess models are you referring to? I'm not familiar. Cheers, Louis.
You are correct. I would get a 36mm as well. This is essentially a dress watch. And a 40mm dress watch does not look very elegant. 40mm is a dive watch size.
Great work on the review, kudos for going for a right size for vintage inspired watch! Subscribed instantly!
Hmm gonna try it
Can you tell me if this watch comes with the luminescence feature? I'm planning to buy this watch please help
Perfect, thanks
what is the lug width and does the strap taper down ?
Sorry I should have mentioned it in the video. It's 18mm and tapers to 14mm.
Does the Hesalite crystal scratch as easily as acrylic?
I think Hesalite is just a brand of acrylic so yes it does scuff and scratch rather easily. I have a couple of scuffs on this watch and I don't even recall how it happened.
@@thewholecut That's a no-no for me. I'll probably go for the Capital AX791. Not a vintage looking watch but it has mineral glass. Thanks for the review and response
Glass is not even mineral??? I like this watch but with this dome glass if its acrylic its scratched in first knock.
Quartz is crap 😉
I recommend you to buy from creationwatches. I bought mine for 165 dollars.
@@thewholecut cheers. It was on the Jura watches sale 👌 same ad I got my sla055 for £2214 👌👌
@@tariqjoseph3562 Wow that's a great deal too! Stop it now you're making me look bad!
awesome watch, also, please consider not cutting your nails so barbarically close to your fingers 🥲
I don’t cut them I bite them! It’s a terrible habit I know but there we go. Thanks for watching!
@@thewholecut understandable my friend, maybe try some random videos on yt on how to stop biting them, there are some cool behaviour psychology tricks over there that could help, I know I have my own habits to work on, cheers to self improvement! and thanks for the sincere response! See you in other videos!
I think of Zeppelin as "the poor man's Lange", and I mean that in a very positive sense. I love the look of Lange watches, but just one of them is probably worth more than all of my physical possessions put together. I had no idea that this brand even existed when I started looking for my first "proper" watch, but the brand's name caught my eye as I've been a fan of this 1910s-30s "German aviator" style ever since playing the WW1 combat flight simulator game called Red Baron as a kid. When I saw what type of watches they make, and the reasonably low prices, I could hardly believe it. Ended up buying my first automatic watch; a Zeppelin LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin 8668-5, which has a very vintage looking and rarely seen beige dial that I just couldn't resist. I'm very happy with it, and already feel like adding another Zeppelin to my collection...
You make a great point. A lot of Zeppelin watches have that unmistakable German style and like you say for a fraction of the price of other famous German brands. Thanks for watching!
