There are "all ages" venues that don't serve alcohol and sometimes "all ages" shows at what would otherwise be an adults only club. I believe their first several MV's were shot in Portugal/Spain for some reason so that's probably a rented house. If you like synchronized movement onstage, then Kpop is the place for you. It's pretty standard. You might like Twice, my favorite Kpop girl group with 9 members and they have very good choreography. If you like R&B, you would LOVE a group called XG (especially Left Right). Different versions of Hypeboy aren't necessary and different live or performance versions you can do later. Next up chronologically is the Ditto/OMG single. Both MV's are practically mini movies with some of the best stories I've ever seen in a MV. Ditto official MV Side A is most important. If you do Side B it will sort of explain it more (but not really) but definitely do side A first. OMG official MV (there's only one of this one) is my favorite MV by them and the one that got me into Newjeans. Definitely pay attention and watch til the very end but you'll still miss a lot. Also there's unheard dialog transcribed along with the song lyrics in the caption so it gets pretty dense and hard to keep up with. There are whole videos on UA-cam with people explaining all the symbolism (my favorite is by Bookishtheory). After that there is their latest e.p. which has even better songs. Then you will be caught up until they release something new (rumored in April but nobody knows for sure).

Hype Boy is one of my all time favorite songs but I also always hoped we could get an r&b version of it and then the 250 remix came out and I was like "No cause hype boy is the song of the century for me!!" 😂 As a freshly turned 30 yr old who has been listening to kpop since she was 15 I feel like I ve been eagerly waiting for a group like New Jeans!!!! on the contrary i feel they actually do appeal to older people because of their throwback nostalgic sound which is based on 90s to early 2000s music... i know you haven't got to it yet but their 'get up' ep is what got me back into kpop because of the early 2000s uk garage sound... a genre i fondly remember from my late school and university years... in contrast i stopped listening to kpop last gen because i felt the general sound of like 90% of it was starting to sound trashy and very gen z... newjeans despite being so young have not only a refreshing sound but one thats actually quite mature as well... as good as this first ep is... you will see it a lot more when you get onto ditto and omg and then the current ep. The reason they have blown up the way they have has to be down to appealing to all age ranges

if you want to explore other girl groups, i'd recommend XG, i think you would loooove their style!! they're a full japanese girl group who sing fully in english and promote in korea like every other kpop group! they take a lot of inspiration from american girl groups like tlc, spice girls, destiny's child, etc. they have 3 insane vocalists and 4 amazing rappers that are also incredible vocalists!! i'd recommend starting with these songs: "left right", "new dance", "puppet show" and a the performance video of "hesonoo & x-gene"
HUGE BLINK here ..BUT you should branch out even further and listen to a 'boy band' from the Philippines (P-pop)called SB19 especially the song titled "MAPA" :) Also IU from Korea and her song "love wins all' THAT IS a masterpiece! ( has V from BTS in the video )
New jeans is great but if you want to get your mind blown, go down the XG rabbit hole. Although they are not K-pop, they are a Japanese group based out of Korea and they call themselves X-pop. I suggest starting with (shooting star) and (left right).
lots (not all) of newjeans fans don't like cookie (me included) not bc of the music but bc of the suggestive lyrics given to the group mainly minors by the company and it's really obvious from the lyrics "take a look at my cookie" "come and take a lookie" "I wanna see you taste it". along with the controversy's their company's ceo has. I love NewJeans so much but when I listened to cookie with the lyrics i get a little sick they shouldn't have given those lyrics to them or at least taken out the suggestive lyrics as NewJeans already had a issue with 40 year old men coming to fan meetings and making the members uncomfortable ☹

cookie doesnlt have the same connotation in s. korea as it does in western countries, they intended for it to mean cd which is why you see the giant cookie turn into a giant cd. s. korean citizens find the song to be cute and don't think its sexual at all. i'm sure they were aware that it could come across differently to western audiences but their main priority is their s. korean audience. all their other media is very age appropriate so i don't think they would intentionally make something that was supposed to come across as sexual

Oooooo just wait til you get into the remix album if you decide to check it out. Hype Boy is one of my all time favorite songs but I also always hoped we could get an r&b version of it and then the 250 remix came out and I was like "No cause hype boy is the song of the century for me!!" 😂 As a freshly turned 30 yr old who has been listening to kpop since she was 15 I feel like I ve been eagerly waiting for a group like New Jeans!!!! They have that nostalgic 2000's vibe that I grew up with and have been missing. Their sound is so unique especially because kpop tends to follow a formula and I'm tired of the same old formula lol. Idk if anyone else has mentioned it but New Jeans also stands for "new genes" which further emphasizes how their sound is supposed to be timeless while still bringing a new flare to the kpop industry.

on the contrary i feel they actually do appeal to older people because of their throwback nostalgic sound which is based on 90s to early 2000s music... i know you haven't got to it yet but their 'get up' ep is what got me back into kpop because of the early 2000s uk garage sound... a genre i fondly remember from my late school and university years... in contrast i stopped listening to kpop last gen because i felt the general sound of like 90% of it was starting to sound trashy and very gen z... newjeans despite being so young have not only a refreshing sound but one thats actually quite mature as well... as good as this first ep is... you will see it a lot more when you get onto ditto and omg and then the current ep. The reason they have blown up the way they have has to be down to appealing to all age ranges

if you want to explore other girl groups, i'd recommend XG, i think you would loooove their style!! they're a full japanese girl group who sing fully in english and promote in korea like every other kpop group! they take a lot of inspiration from american girl groups like tlc, spice girls, destiny's child, etc. they have 3 insane vocalists and 4 amazing rappers that are also incredible vocalists!! i'd recommend starting with these songs: "left right", "new dance", "puppet show" and a the performance video of "hesonoo & x-gene"

New jeans is great but if you want to get your mind blown, go down the XG rabbit hole. Although they are not K-pop, they are a Japanese group based out of Korea and they call themselves X-pop. I suggest starting with (shooting star) and (left right).
lots (not all) of newjeans fans don't like cookie (me included) not bc of the music but bc of the suggestive lyrics given to the group mainly minors by the company and it's really obvious from the lyrics "take a look at my cookie" "come and take a lookie" "I wanna see you taste it". along with the controversy's their company's ceo has. I love NewJeans so much but when I listened to cookie with the lyrics i get a little sick they shouldn't have given those lyrics to them or at least taken out the suggestive lyrics as NewJeans already had a issue with 40 year old men coming to fan meetings and making the members uncomfortable ☹

cookie doesnlt have the same connotation in s. korea as it does in western countries, they intended for it to mean cd which is why you see the giant cookie turn into a giant cd. s. korean citizens find the song to be cute and don't think its sexual at all. i'm sure they were aware that it could come across differently to western audiences but their main priority is their s. korean audience. all their other media is very age appropriate so i don't think they would intentionally make something that was supposed to come across as sexual

I'll just add that all Kpop idols train until they're pros out the gate, so much of their success depends on their producers and the songs they bring. In this case, NJ is under the complete creative control of Min Hee Jin, a renegade Kpop producer that wanted to bring wider musical influences and a more natural style to her members.
If you want to get a better and more relaxed view of the girls, check out their appearence on IU's "Palette" talk/music interview show. IU is the legendary singer/songwriter/producer/actress that many of the younger idols, including NJ, credit as their inspiration for wanting to be become singers. IU was so taken with Hyein's beautiful voice that she asked her to be on one of her newest songs.
IU is definitely someone you should check out. She's got over a decade's worth of songs but you might start with "Holssi" and work backwards.
For another group that is the embodiment of Swag, check out (G)-Idle, another renegade group led by the tiny terror of Kpop, Jeon Soyeon, who writes, produces, and sings with the group. Start with "Tomboy," which you'll have on an endless replay loop.
And, of course, You've Got to check out Blackpink at somepoint. They're basically the girl group that's taken over the world both with their music and their fashion styles. I'd start with their two very different debut songs, "Boombayah" and "Whistle," then maybe "As If It's Your Last" and "Kill This Love." There's also a wonderful doc about them on Netflix titled "Blackpink: Light Up the Sky" which not only goes into the incredible story of how four very different women with international backgrounds became Blackpink, but gives you a good idea of the Kpop "Trainee" system (short version - years of 12+ hour days training) that all idols go through before they're allowed to debut.

Most times I have to pause because of copyright. If I upload the whole song without breaks, I increase the chances of my video getting blocked.
