- The spring transfer portal window has closed, and the Miami Hurricanes have emerged as a winner. Miami won the spring transfer portal cycle because they added several impact players at positions of strength and need, without losing any key players. Oregon State running back Damien Martinez, who rushed for 1,185 yards last year, and defensive tackle Simeon Barrow Jr, who recorded 3.5 sacks last year, are my favorite editions, along with wide receiver Samuel Brown. The Miami Hurricanes may have the best roster in ACC Football. Perhaps Miami and Mario Cristobal can contend for their first College Football Playoff appearance if their coaching staff can utilize that talent. I know Miami is not a part of the Big Ten, but they might be soon.
If they're not contenders, they're close.
I can get behind that opinion. I certainly don't think Miami is a National Championship contender as well, but contending for a CFP appearance is in the middle of those two opinions.
@@collegefootballwithsamyes, when I said "contender", I meant for the 12 team playoffs and the ACC. Not the national championship.
I'd say that this is by far the best they've recruited in over 15-20 years. Back to back top 10 recruiting classes plus the portal should = more wins next year.. if you watched them last year you would see that they dominated the line of scrimmage in almost every game. Poor QB play and some questionable coaching decisions cost them all but 1 of their losses. They easily could have had 1 loss last year to only UNC. With ward coming in along with all the talent around him they "SHOULD" win 10 plus games. People forget that they also signed the Best d line class in the country last year with 2-3 five stars(depending on the ranking)and more 4 stars. I think at least 2 of those highschool players will play a significant roll as the season goes on. They should be a very solid squad next year. Coaching will be big. It's a wait and see game now.
Good stuff here. The only thing I would add is I believe Barrow will add more of an impact on pass Rush downs from the inside. Guys like, CJ, Clark and Marley Cook that they added will be the run stoppers in the middle.

I’m a diehard UM fan but I don’t believe they are a college football playoff contenders yet. Are they trending upward, yes. They are stacked in talent but this team is still learning. I say 9 to 10 win season yes. I’m super excited for this season but I’m going to be realistic. I’m tired of being let down but I still believe we are going to have a good season. I just think it takes more than 3 seasons to be a playoff contenders or even a championship team. Go Canes 🙌🏼
I understand to increase your chances to win you gotta have the guys but you have to have the coaches to go with them until Mario prove me wrong 8-4

Great roster. Having had Mario as a coach though... (Oregon fan) I'm skeptical of the coaching side of things. Things are looking up though.

Listen CANES WILL WIN 10 or more Games this year. The Main Reason is they have a Dynamic Playmaker and Game Changer at Quarterback and they didn’t have it Last year in TVD . This kid Cam Ward is a Superstar Confident Quarterback and he has Numerous of Lethal Weapons around him

A few of things: 1) Miami has never won the ACC championship 2) Mario Cristobal is still the coach and 3) FSU has gotten better in the portal and knows how to win the ACC championship unlike Miami.
1) FSU's roster is trash and we all know it 2) Mario is progressing as a coach and has lots of amazing staff around him 3) Miami got way better than FSU this year and FSU fans are mad
I get Fsu fans wanna act like they didn't see how bad yall looked without Jordan Travis last year DJU isn't good enough to do what Travis did last year and carry Fsu in those big moments yall had way better receivers tightend and linebackers yall lost alot of talent and to think that will have no affects is just crazy to believe

Well, I’m still in “believe it when I see it” mode with Cristobal. He’s shown he can recruit at both Oregon and Miami, but his big-game coaching ability is an absolute let down
Every year the U IS BACK. Every year ends in disappointment. Been in the ACC for 20 years. Talked all that smack about how they gonna run the ACC. Could some canes fan kindly remind me how many ACC championships the canes have even BEEN in much less won? But yeah this is the year tho right?

I can see your point of view. The only contention I would have with you is since the CFP field is 12 and not 4, programs who are simply making strides could be contenders if they have an easy enough schedule.

@@armandhammer3782 I mean, Rutgers and Penn State are two Big Ten teams that have easy schedules in my opinion. I think Missouri from the SEC also has one. Easy schedules are not only an ACC thing.

They will start off strong, and all we'll hear is Miami is back. Mario will cost them a game that the have no business losing, and then the wheels will fall off. They miss the playoffs. They will win the portal season again, and all we we'll hear is Miami us back. Rinse Repeat until the end of time.
