About the 2018 speech:
This was when BTS really blew up worldwide with the release of DNA, Fake love and Idol. They had a lot of schedules and were feeling burnt out. This speech in MAMA 2018 was the first time they ever mentioned about something like this. But later they pulled through and decided to continue as a group. Taehyung mentioned being the most affected by this.
What you asked about in the other suchwita episode with RM:
This was when they announced they were taking a break from group activities before their military enlistment in 2022. They announced it in the Festa dinner video. They had previously halted Run BTS episodes as well. At the time, they couldn't reveal that it was bc of the enlistment and just mentioned taking a break. And along with that they also mentioned releasing solo stuff in the meantime.
This came out of the blue and people were freaking out. A lot of articles came out saying BTS are taking a hiatus like One direction and in the end they will break up. They only announced Jin's enlistment after their Busan concert. That was when people realized that they were only taking a break for enlistment.
Seokjin will actually be back next month, exactly 40 days from now 😁 Also to give you more context on the 2018 "disbandment" talk, that speech was during the end of 2018 at an award show and the disbandment talk was earlier that year. 2017 was their US debut and since then, they are getting bigger exponentially at a fast speed so they became scared. It was new to them, no other artist from South Korea experienced that growth they were experiencing so they were literally walking in the dark. Add to that the pressure and the hectic schedule (this will also be discussed during Tae's suchwita episode). But in 2018, they also renewed their contract 2 years early since their existing contract will end in 2020. That just shows how much they love their art and their fans that it became their only motivation to continue and renew their contracts. It also happened last year, they renewed their contracts early again to 2025 and beyond 🥹💜

Jin talked abt how in early 2018 they were going through a really tuff time bc their schedules were too much for them, he said they considered disbanding during his speech for Artist of the Year at MAMA 2018 bc it was even more meaningful to them that they stuck together and pushed through and were able to receive that award.
What suga mentioned during R-chwita was how the media (western and Korean) twisted their words during their livestream diner for festa 2022 when they first announced to ARMY that they would begin focusing more of solo activities and would be slowing down group activities, the media created the narrative that bts were disbanding to become solo artists which was not true, or what they said, this hiatus was inevitable bc of the mandatory military service and they said over and over that this did not mean that they were disbanding.
That burnout that almost made them disband 💔 I mean, I am an IT professional and I experienced working in a project for 3 months with just 4 hours of sleep with maybe half day each week and I said, I burned out. But mine is a desk job... these guys were singing, dancing, touring, going on shows etc for 3 months with roughly half day PER MONTH of break... wow! I cant blame them if they wanted to disband but very, very impressed that they didnt. I have so much respect for what these boys achieved literally by their own blood, sweat and tears.

Heyyy Martin, thank you for an amazing reaction. Just wanted to clarify about their feelings/ difficulties that led them to having a discussion about disbandment in 2018 and the fake news that was spread by the media and antis in 2022. They are two separate matters, so you weren't wrong when you watched the last episode with Namjoon and Yoongi (ep 9)!!! I tried to keep it short but soo sorry it became a long comment, but to summarise, as you saw and stated in this episode, in 2017-18 the boys were mentally and physically struggling. No one ever in South Korean (or from Asia) history had reached the level/ heights they were reaching, and they were walking on untrodden roads having to pave the way. Not only were they severely overworking themselves to meet these expectations from the public and the pressures they had set for themselves, but like they said, they had no time off - only 1 & 1/2 days off every month!!!! They were so drained and so they did once contemplate disbandment. But they stated that their love for one another and for ARMY is what kept they together and going, and thankfully they have not felt this worn out/ overworked since then. They didn't continue because of money or fame but due to love for what they do, for ARMY and for each other. They were scared of all the pressure and expectation because they never thought they would be as big as they were becoming, especially having bene the underdogs and coming from humble beginnings. Just to clarify, their bond has ALWAYS been strong and the love was always there. Disbandment wasn't because they don't love one another, but because they were mentally and physically drained. Thankfully, are boys stated together and are stronger than ever - and hopefully will be together always (even if they do, do solo projects, its fine. In heart they will always be 7 and their main priority after enlistment is the group/ BTS). :)
Now onto 2022 - this gets me very angry, but I'm going to summarise. So basically, the guys always release a video every single year for Festa. Festa is basically a celebration that happens every year in June to celebrate BTS's anniversary - they debuted 13th June. This celebration/ Festa can last for a few weeks and we get soo many "gifts/contents" from BTS. Every year for Festa they release a video where the boys have a catch up and just talk about things from that year and what their goals are for the year ahead. In 2022 Festa, the boys announced they would be taking a TEMPORARY BREAK and would focus on individual projects to personally grow and develop and that they were remaining as BTS and 7 (during that time they were still promoting their Proof Album, filming RUN BTS episodes, and also had the Busan concert) but they would also take time to just focus on their own individual needs. For context, this is because we know they were all planning on enlisting into the military with Jin going first and then all the boys following (they personally chose when to go) and confirmed they would all reunite by 2025. I can go into sooo much detail about this but I'll save it for another day. They didn't specially mention military in the 2022 Festa video (its a long story as to why) but us ARMYs knew that's probably another reason as to why they were taking a break, especially as Jin mentioned his solo album would be coming out last. Also, for more context, in their 10 years of being active as a group they have only ever taken 2 BREAKS EVER. The first break was in August 2019 and was one month long, the second was in December 2021 and was 2-3 months long. So they deserved a break. BUT the media made up soooooo much rumours. Media and antis started saying that BTS were disbanding and breaking up. It was a horrific time. Thats why Namjoon and Yoongi mentioned all the "naysayers" basically spreading BS.
So yeah, in 2022 it was haters spreading misinformation. In 2018 it was them contemplating disbandment as one of their options due to extreme fatigue and burnout. Hope that helps clarify a bit :)

@@Ween4ever Jungkook went live, Joon wrote one of his most frustrated angry weverse posts ever. like k army said the anger and protectiveness over the tannies and army from his letter could be palpably felt like the tone and everything was so mad and he was just so over the media and industry people. Like Joon said in the letter he had more people messaging him and calling him then than when they achieve/do something great. like the complete and utter disrespect.
And other members also wrote letters or went live on weverse/posted on insta. like it was sich a wild month just because kpoppies/antis, the industry and media were praying so hard on their downfall so much so they didn't even listen to a thing the guys were saying in the actual festa video......still makes me so mad to think about nearly 2 years later. all of them folks r gonna get their karma like imma make sure of that because the torment they put the tannies through for no reason is just diabolical. the members were vulnerable and open with us as they always are and others had to come and stomp on their insecurities about us, about the future etc etc. Just so messed up

I got so frustrated at the antis and all that they went through just to explain themselves when they shouldn’t have to! I’m even more upset that, now that they can’t write, that media and newbies and antis are still bringing up rumours about each member. I’m not sure how long you have been ARMY, but you are TRUE ARMY! I do refrain from writing some things since lately my mind is a little off with health and I’m older though I remember them shortly after their debut. Jin made a video for each month he was gone. This has nothing to do with RM's talk. this was a overworked, exhausted bunch in 2017.
Jin has a 3 octave range, largest in BTS and one of the largest of pop singers. and he can flip from a low chest to a high mix, you can hear it in Dionysius the easiest. Through hard work and a good vocal coach he has one of the best voices I've ever heard. Silver is a good name for it IMHO. LOL ARMY's have been counting down on twitter since he left! LOL He will be back with us June 11 th, so just a bit over a month. He has said he will run to studio to on on Live with Army because he misses us so much. 💜

The disbandment speech was when they got really popular and they were struggling with all of the attention.
That is different from the video where they talk about taking a hiatus for their solo endeavors in Festa 2022. the festa is the one they talked about in RM and Suga’s episode…that there were articles of the breaking up
Mama 2018 speech, Festa dinner 2022.... probably the most heart-breaking piece of content from BTS, hearing their distress 😭 But now with time, they overcame it all and grew so much from this and have developed such a healthy relationship within and with the team!
They are free to work solo, they have more artistic liberty, have such deep respect for each other as humans and artists, so I think these crises is whats gonna help them being a team on the long run!

Burnout is actually inevitable in all creative fields but especially entertainment and music. Things had actually blown up for them in the best of ways. With Fake Love and DNA, they were insanely busy with their schedules. Their success was literally burning them out. As fans, we had absolutely no idea, how hard and how badly it had been affecting them.
BTS has been very open and vocal about their mental struggles and their fight to survive in this crazy industry. It's so inspiring to see their perseverance, their determination to just stay together through all of it.
Its approximately 40 days until Jin returns .. there is actually a countdown .. can't wait for June 12th to get here .. Jin is my absolute fave 🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜👍👍
Yes, this man has surprised us every month since he enlisted with a video message, I think I can speak for all of us Army's that this has given us so much support and strength through difficult days ! Really so sweet of him..😊 the song was from Jin 'The Astronaut' written by Chris Martin(coldplay) it was a song for himself normally but he wanted Jin to have it as a gift and made it his, normally it was complete in English and at first Jin would kept it like that but Chris said to put in korean lyrics so it's his song. Coldplay and BTS have a good respectful honest friendship, check their collab together 'My Universe' and the behind the scenes from it and the live performance from Jin with 'The Astronaut' live , during Coldplay's world tour it's was beautiful and heartwrecking at the same time, because of his enlistment short after. the words chris said,... 😢 and ofcours the MV too, thank you for this video Martin 💜💜💜

I saw it many times and still can't keep my own tears. 2017/2018 was a hard time for them, crazy shedules, the hate, accusations they got thrown at them while they gave their all. The song from start is Jins song Astonaut, he did this before he joined the Army, He ask Chris Martin from Coldplay to help him write a goodbye song to Army. and before he joined he travelled for 3 days to Argentina where coldplay had a concert to perform Astronaut live and say goobye to Army. Imagine how much planning and work they had to do before enlisting for Armys to be getting contents from BTS every single month while they are away! About almost disbanding in 2018- NOBODY KNEW about this until Jin did that acceptance speech at the end of 2018 award show. There were NO rumors at all, we thought they were doing fine. Jin explains the physical and mental exhaustion they experienced on this Suchwita episode. Sometime after Jin’s acceptance speech, not until 2020, Suga revealed that the rap line song Tear from 2018 was written to the members when they were considering breaking up in 2018. They all cried when he played the demo to them and they later decided to stick it out together. The false rumors about BTS breaking up were right after the 2022 Festa dinner video aired. They said they were taking a break as a group (wrongly translated as “hiatus” which in the west due to other group’s’ history this basically means breaking up) and working on solo projects. It was mostly positive as they talked about their upcoming projects. But RM talked about lack of inspiration and he cried which freaked us out. Suga even said at the dinner they were not breaking up! They did NOT mention military until a few months later the day after the Busan concert when Jin’s enlistment was announced. So in retrospect we know the break was not just for solo work but for military service. Between December 2022 and November 2023 each one released their solo work and the last 4 enlisted in early December 2023. In 2022 the press, due to a combination of ignorance and not watching the whole Festa dinner and purposefully trying to get more attention by releasing sensational headlines, blew it all out of proportion. 💜
Yeah in the soop is really healing and you get to see more of bts living like normal human beings, there's two seasons so i'm hoping you watch both 💜

I always say life is like a chess game you always have to be thinking 4-5 steps ahead of your opponent (aka life, work, goals etc). Their 7 year contract finished that year so they were considering if they would renew it or not because it was an extremely hard year for them. Thanks God they all renewed it💜 and not disbanded

This was were they told us they'd been so tired they talked about maybe they should disband and it's where the Song the Rappers sang Outr: Tear' came from. We had no idea about this until that award show. Thankfully they realised disbanding wasn't really want they wanted to do they just needed some time to relax, do nothing and recharge their batteries. at the time their were no rumours. Hence why they won that award as to the world would never have known they'd talked about it. This was a few years before their 10th anniversary Dinner where they announce they were going on their haitus from group work which is the time the USA and world Media were spreading the rumour that said BTS were Disbanding .

It doesn't have a music video sadly, but the live performance uploaded by Taesoo does have the lyrics and is amazing.
Jungkook wrote it and they speak to ARMY in this song. "Magic Shop" is a psychological concept which describes the "Magic Shop" as a kind of imaginary shop in your mind where you "go" and sell your negative traits/emotions and buy good ones

Let me tell you, after the first move out in 2014 if not wrong, they could have lived by themselves (like 2016 onwards), instead they moved togheter two more times... that's family bond.
Even tough they bought houses in 2018 (yes, they live close enough to go by foot to any of their places) the lasts in moving out did it by 2020.

Someone went into a fantastic explanation of the 2 different times they took a break. The song you heard in the beginning is Jin’s single ‘The Astronaut’ where the MV has lots of Easter eggs. 29:59 these are two different situations, Jin speach in 2018 was about disbandment in 2018 after they reached level of success that was beyond their imagination and became burden and affected their mental state. RM was talking about 2022 when after Festa dinner when they announced solo era, all major media were talking about their disbandment, that even JK on his livestream had to say "we are not disbanding"

Oh, just so you know because you know how long it takes to make your videos, Suchwita usually shoots for about an hour and a half to 2 hours and they edit it. So there’s time to have the food ready, talk, joke, and be serious or whatever happens… Jin also looks to Suga about the top 5 to top 3 since Yoongi loves whiskey and can handle his alcohol like Jin. I won’t mention anything else that will happen in this video since you’ve actually already seen it! I do love the other episodes too! Most watch all the members first and then some watch all. In the UK we have Monday 6th May Bank Holiday so yeah no school for children, no University, no banks open etc so we have a long weekend. If you do choose to work that day for company if the company want's to be operating that day you get paid extra rate of pay for that day as it's an official Holiday like Good Friday and Easter Monday at Easter Time and Christmas Day and New Years Day.
