K-Pop is a genre, not a band. The K in K-Pop or K-Rock stands for Korean. Band-Maid are from Japan. I guess you could call them J-Rock but they are so much more than that. Band-Maid calls the contrast between their cutesy maid costumes and their hard rock sound "the gap". They enjoy seeing the confused looks on people's faces when they walk on stage in their cute maid outfits and the reaction when they start playing with their hard rock sound. Some song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Clang, and Matchless Gum. Their latest live videos from Yokohama Arena are incredible. Don't You Tell Me and Hate are straight up bangers with guitar and bass duels, and Endless Story is a tear jerker ballad that even choked up the lead singer Saiki and the drummer Akane since it was the last song of their 10th year anniversary tour. Also, they just released a collaboration with The Warning called Show Them which is a must listen for a fan of either band.

Just listen, don't read. I have been listening to Band-Maid for almost 3 years now, have heard every song, and I am just now getting around to understand what they are talking about. 🕊️
Don't worry about the subtitles, at first. That's for the second listen. Japan has an incredible wealth of rock and metal performers right now---female bands being among the best. And I'm putting all the pop music aside, when I say that. This is a door you should open for future reactions. You'll get plenty of help among your comments. Thrill was the random UA-cam suggestion that introduced me to BAND-MAID. I've heard them live, and they are amazing live. Thrill is awesome early BAND-MAID, but it's before their self-written songs. It's a mere appetizer. And there's a feast, if you want it.
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
As a classically trained pianist, I would recommend first listening to the band playing all the way through, then listen again following the subtitles. I would imagine trying to read through the lyrics first time would distract somewhat. This band is quite impressive in a good way!👏
I hope both of you are having a great day! I was surprised to see you reacting to Band Maid. Band Maid is actually from Japan and this video was their first official music video from back in 2014. They are still together with all of the original five members, and they have improved dramatically since this video. Their official live videos are even better in most cases than the studio recordings. I think they have released over 140 songs and are still going strong. I wish the both of you a wonderful week.
Band-Maid is a great band. They have a lot of fans from all around the world - they've toured in England, Europe, the US, Mexico, and more. Their live videos are fantastic!
From Japan BAND-MAID is a five-member girl rock band. This year marks their 12th anniversary. The members have not changed. They are a hard rock band and are considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually have 23 songs and 2 hours of live performances. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Miku had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo, and came up with the idea of playing cool music in maid outfits. That's why the band was named BAND-MAID. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, and six months later, it suddenly achieved 2 million views in two weeks, avoiding disbandment and deciding to become a hard rock band. They have also performed overseas and are gaining more fans. Currently, they write, compose, and arrange all of their songs themselves. They have 140 original songs. They have 60 songs published on their official You Tube, and all of them are killer songs.
Official videos are often not blocked. ■ Hard Rock : the non-fiction days ・Rinne・ DICE ・Thrill ・Unleash!!!!・ Sense・ Warning! ・After life ・Protect You ■ Cool Rock : Alone ・Influencer ・Bubble ・Manners ・YOLO ・Different・ Blooming ・Forbidden tale ■ Great Live : DOMINATION ・PLAY ・FREEDOM ・REAL EXISTENC ・CROSS ・CHOOSE ME ・Puzzle ・Hate? ■ Ballad : Wonderland ・Endless story ・Daydreaming ・About us ・Memorable ・Bestie ■ Acoustic : "Catharsis" Acoustic Ver. ・Sayonakidori" Acoustic Ver. ■ Instrumental : from now on ・On set ■ Japanese Style : Secret Maiko Lips・ Gioncho (April Fool's Day Gift BAND MAIKO Version) ■ Collaboration: Bestie Michael Einziger from INCUBUS ・SHOW THEM (with Warning ) ■ All English lyrics: Dragon Cry ・Don't Let Me Down ・Bestie ・SHOW THEM ■ Anime Songs: glory ・Different ・Sense ・Shambles ・Protect You ■ Side Project : Cluppo : Peace and Love ・ with You ( Miku’s side project )
K-pop are Korean pop bands, J-pop from Japan. Although this is straight hard rock. They're great live too...check out the official live version of 'Domination'.
Official live Domination shows how they work a crowd. Yes it's like that at concerts I've been to! I find myself making an angry face during Hate? (official live), and leak tears of both joy and sadness during other songs, having paid no attention to lyrics and recognizing none of my maybe 10 words of non-restaurant-menu Japanese. The lyrics are often very clever and inspiring, but the story's feelings come through without them. Maybe read 'em beforehand if lyrics are an essential part of your experience, as it is with some, and not others.
I've never heard them before, but that was a great song! I'm going to look up the lyrics now so I can see what they're saying. That was some impressive rock!
This is Band Maid with the training wheels still on! Even at this point they were still better rock than many western bands, IMO, but they have become, in the past 11 years, absolute monsters of rock. IMO they stand alone in 2025 atop the rock music world.
Don't worry so much about the lyrics and just feel the music. They're great at writing music that will tell you everything you need to know without knowing the lyrics. This is such a simple song compared to their stuff since then. I highly suggest watching the Domination LIVE (NOT the MV) or Hate Live videos. They're the best and most diverse band this short century.
Thanks for reacting to the greatest band in the world! When I first discovered them I didn't pay attention to the lyrics at first. I just enjoyed Saiki's voice for the sound and listened to the overall musical talent of each member. Later I'd go back and read the lyrics (or not). I've listened to a lot of their songs so much I sing along with no idea of what I'm singing. If you really want to hear and see the true greatness of our Maids, check out some of their live performances.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid. I think most folks focus on the music at the first listen. The lyrics can be quite intriguing and sometimes downright poetic, but the translation can never line up with what you are hearing so it gets terribly distracting. I guess I have the luxury of not being a reactor so I tend to just listen to the song and then go back to see the lyrics. It takes more than one listen to really appreciate all that is going on with a Band-Maid song anyway. Best band I've heard in decades. Enjoy the ride with these ladies. I know I have.
You reacted LED ZEPPELIN, right? Jimmy Page from LED ZEPPELIN saw BAND-MAID and he liked drumer's play of Band-MAID (Akane Hirose), and he talked Akane and took a photo with her. .
This was their 1st video ever and came out over 10 years ago. It was the thing that kept the group from being disbanded.....and now 12 years later they released the anime opening for ZEN..... Rolling Quartz is K-rock....NEK! is J-rock....Band-Maid is their own genre, they cross over between jazz, swing, pop, rock, punk, hardrock, and metal....alot of times in the same song
Millie, you are absolutely right James would not look good in a maids outfit, you on the other hand, well let's just say if you want to get to 500K subscribers that would definitely put you on the fat track!
Welcome master and princess to the pigeon's hole. Band-Maid is not K-Pop but a real Japanese female rock band. Thrill is a great way to discover this talented band. Huge catalog of songs. Lots of MVs, official lives, and fancams to appreciate their skills. You are lucky because it is very possible that they will tour Europe and obviously London this year. Thank you and see you soon.
I'll admit it takes a little while to get used to listening to a song in another language. But for me, I never understand lyrics even in english! I'm the guy who always gets it wrong. The more you listen to them the better it gets. For new songs I don't even bother with the CC at first and then will put it on when I watch it again. Many songs don't even have CC so I just listen to how it's being sung rather the what.
Thanks for the reaction.....They have several instrumentals....try "Onset" live or " From Now On"...no lyrics to distract you. Only Jedi level musicianship.
this is the best rock band that japan has to offer and now are in their 12th year with all of the same members. they mix some english in just about every song. but you won't care after a minute or two because the music is so good. i recommend not trying to focus on the lyrics the first time through and just enjoy the presentation of the song. music is the universal language !
This is from very early in their career. They're 10 years on now, and the musical growth is immense (and they were very good here). I understand being thrown off by music sung in a different language. That can be a hangup. Just let it be music you're listening to, the voice is another instrument. Come back to BAND-MAID again and again, and I do not think you'll be disappointed. They're the real deal.
Beesleys , Welcome to BAND-MAID enjoy your journey down the Pigeon hole , they are a Japanese Hard Rock MAID band , this was BAND-MAIDS 1st MV from 2014 , they are still together today with the same 5 amazing Ladies , , if you like something a little heavier try , Domination , official live video or Hate ? , official live video , easier listening , try Daydreaming , official MV or Bubble ,Official MV , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , oh btw we could not see the subtitles either looks like they were covered over .
Here's how to tell Chinese, Korean and Japanese. Chinese is when you see those complicated kanji characters and nothing else. Korean has a phonetic alphabet. It looks like circles with crosses and lines. You might get a Chinese Character here and there, but that's it. Japanese has two phonetic alphabets a swoopy one for Japanese words and a more stick figure one for foreign words. And they will put a Chinese Kanji Character absolutely anywhere, even in the middle of a word. And just to make it really really hard there usually aren't any space between words, and just a little circle at the end of sentences for a period mark. K-Pop is a genre, as is J-Pop and J-Rock, and BTS is from Korea, but BAND-MAID are Japanese. However, this is their very first Music Video from over ten years ago. You should see some of the new stuff, especially the Official LIVE Videos. That's where they really shine.
Hey! I enjoy your other channel, especially the Texas stuff. For this channel, I'm going to recommend *The Warning,* a group of 3 sisters who start with a classic rock base and add in newer genres, like grunge, punk, etc. They did a collab with Band Maid for a song which is on BM's new album, but try 'Evolve' from the 2023 MTV VMAs, or 'Dust to Dust' (which the drummer sings while still drumming furiously.
I have been listening to Japanese bands for 5 years and this band for about 3 years. They do use a good bit of English in many of their songs. In my opinion this band is the best on the planet right now. Thrill was their first MV from about 10 years ago . Don't worry about the lyrics too much at the start, the tones of their vocals will carry you through and the more you listen more you will realize how much is in English. To see what the ladies are up to recently, Check out Don't You Tell Me live from Yokohama Arena.
K-Pop is Korean, Band-Maid is Japanese. If you enjoyed them, you guys should check out One OK Rock - We Are. Their live version is amazing and most of their songs, especially their newer songs are sung in English. Keep up the great reactions! ua-cam.com/video/uyaKoj7wABY/v-deo.htmlsi=o7Vj4sI3jPRVfbpx
I like them. Some tunes aren’t always about the lyrics. Sometimes it’s țhe song as a whole. It’s about the ŵhole experience about vibing to new to you band.
I ADORE the story behind Band Maid. I have a LOT of respect for Miku Kobatu, the little pigeon. She's the rhythm guitarist / vocalist in this music video. She's the founder. She recruited the other girls. At the time, she was a decent player, but nothing special. She worked for years in various Maid cafes, and loved the whole culture. She wanted a band of girls, all playing fully into the Maid culture, but rocking cool tunes. All the other girls were excellent. Japan is home to many cultural, societal norms that are passed from generation to generation, that everyone is raised to conform to. It's just natural. It's how they do things in Japan. One of those things, is that it's expected when you're working on a group project or task, it's important that you leave your ego at the door. You work together, and always think of the bigger picture. Here's why I really admire Miku. Miku had her Maid / rock chick vision, and is fully committed to learning what she needs to, to drive the band's success. She formed it, with the intention of being the singer and guitarist. She recognised Kami was a MUCH better guitarist than her, so she switched to the rhythm guitar. She recognised Saiki had a phenomenal voice, so she stood back, to a backing vocal. She's the band's spokesperson, she does all the press interviews. At every concert they always take a mid show break. This is Miku's playtime with the audience. She does her whole Maid thang, while the band chill. How you can tell this is an early song, is to look at her guitar. At this time it was a Rickenbaker. She put a LOT of time learning from Kami, and improving on guitar, to improve the overall band. At some point, a boutique Japanese guitar manufacturer built and presented her with a custom designed guitar, which she's using in pretty much every video since.
The members of Band-Maid all came to Tokyo from the suburbs and points from SouthWestern Japan to pursue careers in music, eventually forming Band-Maid. It's a fascinating story of how the band came together. The "Thrill" music video was pivotal to Band-Maid in many ways. It literally saved them from being disbanded and launched them on their path to international fame. It also started Band-Maid on their path toward self determination and their semi-serious goal of 'World Domination'. "Thrill" was the B-side of an acoustic single that was the direction their management desired that they go. They were supposed to shoot that song, but the girls decided they were going to do "Thrill" because that's the kind of music they really wanted to do. It was a decision that changed their lives. I have a suggested Band-Maid path: "Alone" because that's the song they wrote that their management first allowed them to perform. "Real Existence" because it shows the type of 'psychological' love songs they perform. "Daydreaming" "Dice" "Wonderland" "Endless Story" just because it's wonderful. "Manners/Black Hole" - you've never seen anything like this. "Secret Maiko Lips" and "Gion-Cho", and now, for something completely different. "Onset" "Puzzle" (Live from Tokyo Garden Theater) is classic, powerful rock that hits you like the London Blitz. "No God" "After Life" "Warning" "From Now On" "Shambles" "Forbidden Tale" "The One" This is one incredible band. I've seen them live twice and they are amazing.
For most of their songs I couldn’t give a stuff about the lyrics. About Us is different, Black Hole chaos is explained by the lyrics/context but really, for me, the voice is just another instrument. Endless Story (live) is good to get the subtitles for….
I believe it was released 10 years ago as a video, though it was the B-side of a single if I'm not wrong? At this time they had bad feedback from the music-industry. So at this point the label was considering dropping them. Then a few months later they saw the video got a lot of views in a short time. First they believed it was some bots, but soon they heard about this J-music page on Facebook had shared the video. This very possibly saved them as a band. Since then they've developed heavily as a band, writing their own material etc. If there's 2 videos that show the best of them, it's "Blooming" (official mv) and "Hate?" (official live) which highlight them as a live-band
Band Maid is a deep pigionhole waiting to be explored. Now that you have watched their first video check out their newest one Zen. It is the opening theme song for the Mappa anime Zenshu. The video was shot in the mappa offices and contain themes from the anime.
I've been subscribed since James did the main channel alone (his NFL stuff got me to subscribe). I love watching you two react to stuff. I also subscribed to this music channel once I heard about it. I am starting my journey with Band Maid as well, and am enjoying it. I suggest you check out my current favorite band, The Warning. Three hard rocking sisters from Mexico (they sing mostly in English) who have been at it since 2013. If you have a chance, check out their video Evolve live at the VMAs in 2023. Thank you! 😀
Thank you for checking out the hardest rocking Maids in the world. Band Maid from Japan and The Warning from Mexico, two of the best bands out there today.
Literally the drop in the bucket for Band-Maid! They just dropped a new song called "Zen", it will give you a comparison from 12 years ago to 2025! These ladies never stop improving, as they constantly, "We will try our best!" IMHO, it's better to concentrate on the music first, then check out the lyrics. They do have a few songs all in english it it's a problem. Hope you check out more Band-Maid songs!
BANDMAID is the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century IMHO. It's a crazy statement. Was Mozart the world's greatest composer of his era? He'll yeah! The farther we get away from that time the more clearly we see the immensity of his talent. Few would argue with the above assessment. Everytime I write "IMHO" after BandMaid is the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century I feel like a liar. IMHO my ass! IMHO water is wet. BandMaid rules right now. 66 years old here. I remember rock and roll on the radio folks. BandMaid is right there with the best of them! The future will prove us right.
Interviewer: Maid outfits aren’t exactly rock ‘n’ roll. What is your ultimate heavy metal costume? MIKU “Now Band-Maid’s outfits are part of rock n roll, so we pick these!” Interviewer: What’s the meaning of the name “BAND MAID”? Miku: I used to work at a maid cafe, and I thought “I want a band!” So it became BAND-MAID - maids in a band! Interviewer: How did BAND-MAID come together? Did any of you know each other before joining the band? Kanami: Miku was looking for members to be in BAND-MAID. I was approached to join the band, and then I brought my friend, the drummer Akane, with me. Then, Akane brought her friend, the bassist Misa. So the instrumental performers were all gathered through connections between musicians. After that, our vocalist Saiki joined through an audition.
Welcome Home, Beesleys!!!🕊️ Congratulations on improving your life today! Finding the Maids can be a life-changing experience of pure JOY! 🤩 The Maids are a remarkable collection of extraordinarily talented musicians who excel at every aspect of modern Rock music creation: Composition, Arrangement, Songwriting, Orchestration, Instrumentation, Recording, Production, Playing and Performance. If you stick with the journey, you’ll see it’s true. BAND-MAID pulls in fans of all ages from all rock genres - pop-punk, emo, modern rock, classic rock, grunge, heavy metal; because the Maids are so talented and versatile with songs using elements of every rock style and genre imaginable! Many of their biggest fans are folks, of all ages, who also love the timeless artists like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, RUSH, YES, The Who, Santana, Toto, Steely Dan, Metallica, Dimash Quidebergen, etc….as we find many of the high-level musical qualities in the Maid’s music as well. We like to say the Maids are their own genre. They are in fact on the (back) cover of the Japanese Rolling Stone magazine this month. They have a goal of (peaceful) World Domination through music; and are on their way. They’ve toured Europe and North America before; they’ve stayed in Japan for 2024, but expect them to make a tour stop near you in 2025! As for more songs; 😂. It’s a bit of a joke with us Masters & Princesses (or Maidiacs, if you prefer), because, literally, the Maids are probably the single most PROLIFIC band at writing great song after great song - EVER. No kidding. They have 130+ songs across the rock music genre spectrum - we say they are their own genre. 🤷🏻♂️ Seriously, I’m not kidding - you’ll easily get 50-75 different song suggestions from 10 different people. Welcome, Beesleys. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 220 million YT views, plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (144 songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 80 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, You, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, The One, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Zen, Protect You, Sense, Different, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html) And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts: 2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” ua-cam.com/video/Za1y-RRVd70/v-deo.html ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ua-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/v-deo.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ua-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/v-deo.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 33 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 33 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 34 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 32 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. Guys, you just reacted to the first video produced by what is now the hottest rock band on the planet. This is from 2013, and after almost 12 years their catalogue is over 200 songs and they are the undisputed champs of rock and all of its sub-genres. Band Maid has a truly global fan base on every continent, including Antarctica, where they are very popular at the McMurdo Sound base. There is just so much to unpack here. The way the band came together and how they progressed this far is an epic story in itself. There is a YT creator named Ohrenje who has produced a number of documentaries about the band and its members. I've seen them three times here in the US, twice in 2022 and once in 2023 and there are the best shows I have been to since the late 1960's. They have performed in London, Amsterdam, Berlin and several other European cities, as well as Mexico and I believe South America. To get a good idea about how they've progressed over the years, I would suggest reacting to the Live Official videos of Domination, Real Existence, Freedom, Don't You Tell Me, Onset, Manners/Black Hole, Dice and Hate. They are all bangers and you will be very pleased with their style. I'm a soon-to-be 78 year old Rocker from NYC and a die-hard Maidiac. I look forward to more of your reactions of Band Maid.
I am a bit shocked that this MV didn't stir both of you into a headbanging frenzy like it did me last year. I guess this isn't the type of music you listen to. This band rocked my world when I first heard it. I have been a total MAIDIAC since. Try their songs "Dice" and "Hate?" If that doesn't stir you, then there is probably no hope.🎀
Just enjoy the music. Consider the singing to be another instrument. If you decide to watch them again, watch one of their Official Live Videos. Their energy on stage is a lot of fun.
Band Maid is even better live. In studio you can do a lot of "magic" with postprocessing (even in video). When band plays live it shows how good it is. And Band-Maid is very good. Look at recordings of them live. They have a lot of than in their channel.
My suggestion is music first, lyrics second. The translation from Japanese to English can be rough. Also, they'll throw in English here and there for their overseas fans to pick up on.

You just opened the pigeon hole! Welcome to Band Maid …. The Greatest Band on this planet we call Earth!! Band Maid is no joke and actually are BETTER live. Try “Moratorium”, or an instrumental “Onset”. They have over 100+ songs and every one of them introduces something new. They handle any genre of rock! I LOVE BAND MAID ❤❤. Great react, you just barely scratched the surface. (BTW …. The genre is “Band Maid”)
If you like to listen to fun songs then Band-Maid will be one of your favorite band . Their live song will put a smile on your face . They have a smiling gorilla on the drums .
Thanks for the fun reaction, interesting watching people react to international music for the first time. I hope you react to more Band-Maid in the future, you're sure to get a lot of views and subs!
Have only seen Bandmaid on you tube, but live performance is better. There interaction is great. Freedom has an one of the best drum solos. The interactions between them is wonderful.
Tell me, what do you do when you do not know the lyrics to a song? You hum it right?! Thrill was the song that got me hooked on Band-Maid! Since I didn’t know Japanese, I can hear the passion in voice! Saiki is a very good vocalist! Band-Maid is so much better live! They’re the best rock group on the planet! Their shows are very energetic from start to finish and they’re so much fun!! Their shows are very is a great experience
If you liked this video, I'm not the type you like, You should definitely see it I would like to introduce three more girl rock bands. LoveBites, "Set the world on fire" NEMOPHILA / REVIVE [Official Music Video], Gacharic Spin “MindSet”, You won't regret it. If you're interested in the songs from 40 years ago that formed the foundation for an all-girl rock band, プリンセス プリンセス “GET CRAZY!” Show-Ya - 私は嵐(Music Video) You can get a good idea of the level of Japanese girl rock bands.
I just immediately always cringe when I hear US folks say "I think I have never listened to music in a foreign language". How is that even possible??? 😂
This is very simple by their current standard so if you do more, I'd definitely recommend something more recent (or Domination Live which is a popular pick) and for me I treat the vocals similarly to an instrument since it's not a language I speak. This goes for all the foreign bands like Band Maid, Komsume, HANABIE, Nemophila, X Japan, etc
This was a nice surprise. I've watched you guys for a while now and was pleasantly surprised that you reacted to my all-time favorite band. You have not even chipped the very tip of the iceberg that is their catalog. Wide and diverse you can literally pick any song whether it has a video or not. I am betting that by the time you hit 5 or 6 songs that you two will be Maidiacs.
It has been so long since I listened to music with English lyrics that now it sounds strange when I hear it :) Keep on with Band-Maid, they have a deep and excellent discography!
Just listen to the awesome music. The words being sung align nicely with the vocal melody. It really doesn't matter that the lyrics are in another language. It's all about the music.Don't worry too much about the lyrics. They are probably auto generated and may or may not be completely correct anyway.
Band Maid is great and I"m a hard corps BabyMetal fan. You should listen to BabyMetal next. You should listen to the Band-Maid and The Warning collaboration.
If you like this group, you might want to try a band from Mexico called "The Warning". They are three sisters that really rock. In fact, they made a band duet with this group.
Super old Band Maid, and unfortunately not a live cut. The ONLY way to watch Band Maid is off a live cut. Every time. This band is super good, great musicians, and prolific. This song is really old, and before they got going. Every member now has their own signature instrument, just to show how respected they are. Dice with Hate Live was at Lollapalooza. The Video was not very good as the camera man didn't know what was going on and looking at the wrong person. Hate? Live at Yokohama was much better
@@AmericanizedBrit For those 2 songs the best to watch is the Dice MV and Hate ? live from Yokohama arena , the camera work at Lollapalooza made it bad .
Focus on the music... the general feeling/meaning of the song will come thru despite the language. Man, it's this was so long ago, they have come such a long way since this.
I would love to see you react to the songs that you didn't know from the decade videos you watched on most popular songs from every month of the 80s and 90s.
Be careful here. You are on the edge of the female Japanese hard rock/metal rabbit hole. Which I say jump in head first. Simply some of the best music and most talented musicians you will find today. From here you need to start checking out lovebites, Hagane, Habanie, NEK, Lisa, stereopony, of course Babymetal and my favorite is Nemophila. A band who's songs go from almost bubblegum pop , to pop rock, hard rock to metal You will not be disappointed.
I forgot to mention Lisa x band both the LisaX band and there stuff under their new name Koiai. It has 2 unbelievable guitarists , LisaX , a guitar prodigy who is only 19 or 20 as of now I believe. And Hazuki who is also in Nemophila. Koiai's song and video for "a new picture" will blow your mind. You will not know what to think, in a great way of course. Keep in mind, in the show this video is from, it was in the late summer, early fall of 2023, just a short time after Lisa graduated high school. She is the guitarist that will be on your right as you watch.
You realize by saying "Japanese, Chinese, Thai, whatever" you are showing your extreme ignorance about the differences of the various Asian countries. It would be like saying they were from " England, Germany, Italy, whatever". You are two idiots.
Band-Maid is an impossibly hard-rocking maid band from Tokyo, Japan. Thanks for the reaction!

Welcome to the Maidiacs. Beesleys
That was their first MV. Check out their latest one (a week old) "Zen"
Great comment Davey !!!!!!
LIVE BANDMAID is where it's at mostly. Hate? Live is mindblowing!!
From Japan
BAND-MAID is a five-member girl rock band.

BabyMaid
They've gotten SO MUCH better in the years following this breakout. Noticeably so after the guitarist started writing the music
I'd buy that for a dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!
First thing you will learn, the more you listen to Band-Maid ..Is how very, very well the ladys play and sound ..Enjoy🙃❤🎶🙃
This was their first music video. Take a look at Hate? to see them live and a newer song. You'll be impressed.
Thanks for the reaction.....They have several instrumentals....try "Onset" live or " From Now On"...no lyrics to distract you. Only Jedi level musicianship.
I never read the lyrics on the first listen.🍺😁🕊️
Me neither.
this is the best rock band that japan has to offer and now are in their 12th year with all of the same members. they mix some english in just about every song. but you won't care after a minute or two because the music is so good. i recommend not trying to focus on the lyrics the first time through and just enjoy the presentation of the song. music is the universal language !
Hej Beesleys,
welcome to the world of Band-Maid.
Glad to have you on this journey !
I don't understand anything they say apart from whatever English I hear but their music is so good I really don't care about the lyrics.
Band Maid! ❤ “DICE” is the next step in the journey. Or anything else on their channel. My Band Maid playlist has over 60 songs

I have a suggested Band-Maid path:
"Alone" because that's the song they wrote that their management first allowed them to perform.
"Real Existence" because it shows the type of 'psychological' love songs they perform.
"Daydreaming"
"Dice"
"Wonderland"
"Endless Story" just because it's wonderful.
"Manners/Black Hole" - you've never seen anything like this.
"Secret Maiko Lips" and "Gion-Cho", and now, for something completely different.
"Onset"
"Puzzle" (Live from Tokyo Garden Theater) is classic, powerful rock that hits you like the London Blitz.
"No God"
"After Life"
"Warning"
"From Now On"
"Shambles"
"Forbidden Tale"
"The One"
This is one incredible band.
One million views in mere days!
Thank you! 😀
THE best Hard Rock band on Earth. Even better live.
Welcome to the "Pigeon Hole"! Here's a guide to everything BAND-MAID: www.youtube.com/@Ohrenje. I highly recommend the documentaries!
MIKU “Now Band-Maid’s outfits are part of rock n roll, so we pick these!”
Interviewer: What’s the meaning of the name “BAND MAID”? Miku: I used to work at a maid cafe, and I thought “I want a band!” So it became BAND-MAID - maids in a band!
Interviewer: How did BAND-MAID come together? Did any of you know each other before joining the band? Kanami: Miku was looking for members to be in BAND-MAID. I was approached to join the band, and then I brought my friend, the drummer Akane, with me. Then, Akane brought her friend, the bassist Misa. So the instrumental performers were all gathered through connections between musicians. After that, our vocalist Saiki joined through an audition.
BANDMAID IS ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER FROM JAPAN ....HUGE ❤❤❤❤❤
Welcome Home, Beesleys!!!🕊️
Congratulations on improving your life today!
Finding the Maids can be a life-changing experience of pure JOY! 🤩
The Maids are a remarkable collection of extraordinarily talented musicians who excel at every aspect of modern Rock music creation: Composition, Arrangement, Songwriting, Orchestration, Instrumentation, Recording, Production, Playing and Performance.
Seriously, I’m not kidding - you’ll easily get 50-75 different song suggestions from 10 different people. And there’s a saying in the community; “Your favorite Band-Maid song is the next one you listen to.” 🤷🏻♂️

(from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts:
2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” ua-cam.com/video/Za1y-RRVd70/v-deo.html
ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ua-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/v-deo.html

If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, live streams, CD, DVD/BD & merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.
[BAND-MAID NEWS]

For a very stark contrast, check out their new song Zen, their progression is absolutely mind boggling
Actually any of their newer stuff, like Hate? live Don’t You Tell Me live, Choose Me, is just awesome!
Just listen and take it in...Band-Maid is one of THE BEST live rock bands on the planet. Top tier musicians one and all.
I think it's good manners to at least find out which country the song is from before distributing it.

They were such kiddos back then🙂
Welcome to Band Maid's pigeon hole. More than 120 songs to enjoy :)
And of course, live versions are better because they are real musicians 😎
If you like to listen to fun songs then Band-Maid will be one of your favorite band . Their live song will put a smile on your face . They have a smiling gorilla on the drums .
Thanks for the fun reaction, interesting watching people react to international music for the first time. I hope you react to more Band-Maid in the future, you're sure to get a lot of views and subs!
Have only seen Bandmaid on you tube, but live performance is better. There interaction is great. Freedom has an one of the best drum solos. The interactions between them is wonderful.
k-pop IS a genre of korean music and BTS is probably the most well known - a boy band.
If you liked this video,
I'm not the type you like,
You should definitely see it
I would like to introduce three more girl rock bands.
LoveBites, "Set the world on fire"
NEMOPHILA / REVIVE [Official Music Video],
Gacharic Spin “MindSet”,
You won't regret it.
If you're interested in the songs from 40 years ago that formed the foundation for an all-girl rock band,
プリンセス プリンセス “GET CRAZY!”
Show-Ya - 私は嵐(Music Video)
You can get a good idea of the level of Japanese girl rock bands.
Listen and look the lyrics up later
I just immediately always cringe when I hear US folks say "I think I have never listened to music in a foreign language".
How is that even possible??? 😂
This is very simple by their current standard so if you do more, I'd definitely recommend something more recent (or Domination Live which is a popular pick) and for me I treat the vocals similarly to an instrument since it's not a language I speak. This goes for all the foreign bands like Band Maid, Komsume, HANABIE, Nemophila, X Japan, etc
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Rock and Roll isn't dead. It's just played by little Japanese women now. PO! Band-Maid, LoveBites, BabyMetal and more.
They're just so talented 😎
Japan has one of the largest music industries in the world, second only to the U.S.
Band Maid is great and I"m a hard corps BabyMetal fan. You should listen to BabyMetal next. You should listen to the Band-Maid and The Warning collaboration.
You may want to check out Nemophila too.
If you like this group, you might want to try a band from Mexico called "The Warning". They are three sisters that really rock. In fact, they made a band duet with this group.
Then listen to the collaboration song from The Warning and Band-Maid, "Shiw Them". Also try Rolling Quartz for k-rock!
Super old Band Maid, and unfortunately not a live cut. The ONLY way to watch Band Maid is off a live cut. Every time. This band is super good, great musicians, and prolific. This song is really old, and before they got going. Every member now has their own signature instrument, just to show how respected they are. WATCH THEM LIVE:

That's not true only live they have some great MV`s , yes its old BAND-MAID there 1st MV .
🕊👀❤🇯🇵🥰🍻
🤘
Focus on the music... the general feeling/meaning of the song will come thru despite the language. Man, it's this was so long ago, they have come such a long way since this.
“Thrill” is English. Where are you guys from? France? Germany? Portugal? Italy? Romania? One of those countries over there?
Yousei Teikoku - Astral Dogma For more J-rock and Big Bang - Fantastic Baby for K-pop.
Must be a re-upload or channel move as I know you've done many Band Maid reactions at this point.
I would love to see you react to the songs that you didn't know from the decade videos you watched on most popular songs from every month of the 80s and 90s.
You should have turned the captions off and heard the vocals as another instrument
you guys need to listen to du hast
I don't think they're ready for Rammstein. It would blow their minds! In a good way though.
A band who's songs go from almost bubblegum pop , to pop rock, hard rock to metal
You will not be disappointed.
