    Schoolism really is a great online school. Nathan Fowkes' classes are phenomenal and well worth the price for the video critiqued versions. The self-taught versions are running only 144 u.s dollars for one year of access to the lessons, plus the video feedback given out to previous students and you can learn a lot just from watching the critiques of the other classmates.
    Fowkes' ability to teach, as well as create great art, is at a very high level, and his experience in the entertainment industry really comes through in his lessons. He has many real-world stories that will give you a lot of insight into what it takes to work at the best studios.
    I also took the Color and Light self-taught course by Dice Tutsumi and Robert Kondo, which is also really, really great and worth the money. If you can afford the critiqued versions, sign up. These guys are incredibly good teachers.
    I can't really speak to the other courses, but anything by Fowkes or Dice and Kondo are worth the price.

    What a great artist. I was most impressed with his positive attitude to the tools he had to use years ago. Even though early paint programs, limited color on CRT monitors, mouse and Wacom were tough to use, he persisted, adapted so created some the first renowned digital artwork.
    The lesson here is to spend a long time learning the tools we have, don't neglect traditional art practice and persist in making our creative ideas personal masterpieces.

      +Mout M. dont quit, teachers tell you to quit because there are people better than you and they get the jobs, but if u work ur ass off and get good enough then theres no reason why you can't be that good

    Craig is hands down the most bananas digital artist i've seen. Giving him a photographic camera is the most useless tool you could give him. He doesn't need that shit. Before i got familiar with his work i had never seen an artist synthesize light, texture and mood like he does with digital mediums and so few strokes.

    I can tell Craig Mullins isn't a very deep person. He didn't really talk about the mindset or the mentality he has because he himself is just straight forward. Almost nonhuman. I feel like If you guys were to ask him, "how do you do it?" He would just answer "Uh well I just do it I guess..."

    • @macheifach
      @macheifach 9 років тому +3

      +Dane U.M Youd din't watch the video, did you. Just the answer to the question at 16:42 disproves everything you stated. Just please go somewhere else.

      I think you are wrong , I think looking at Craig Mullins , he just really wants to think about these questions and give the best answer he can which is not so easy because some things are kind of hard to put to words without being able to show.
      so I'd say its the exact opposit of what you say and I'm kind of happy Mr. Mullins is not the guy to automatically blurt out some appeasing psuedo -"deep " answer
      I think that if someone works with him to release a book or video lessons he could get organized enough to actually do it.

    • @YenoWorld
      @YenoWorld 9 років тому +3

      +macheifach His answer to the question doesn't show he's deep at all. He still doesn't actually explain his mindset. I'm searching for his mindset that makes him do what he does over and over and over again, and never stopping no matter what. Mindset is by far the greatest thing an artist can have because after all that's what keeps him running and strive for better. Thanks for the reply!

    • @YenoWorld
      @YenoWorld 9 років тому +4

      +Roleplayer The Acting Thanks for the reply! I actually have to agree with you but when i'm watching an interview of an artist i'm searching for something much deeper than his experiences and his jobs and how he thinks is important to use a medium. I'd like to hear more about himself, and what personally keeps him going. What thoughts go on in that master mind of his and such. You're right its probably not right of me to just assume he doesn't talk about his mindset. Given the questions the level up team asked, He answered all of them just as they should have been answered.
      An amazing interview i saw a year ago and still remember to this day was one of Loish by Sycra. Near the end she said something a long the lines of "find something you love to do and literally put... all your energy into it. I would spend the absolute whole day drawing then wake up the next day just to go right back to drawing. I would always stress out like why can't I draw like these people?? So i kept trying and trying and eventually all the trying got me to where I am today"

    • @macheifach
      @macheifach 9 років тому +6

      +Dane U.M I think, I get you now. You are idalizing art, that's ok. Not everything in life has to be deep as fuck. As you get older, some winds die out, the seas get calm again and everything gets a bit easier, things become what they are again and drawing/painting will become just something enojable. Painting all day and night won't do you any good, if you don't know the pure basics by heart.
