Great video. I bought one of these at HF today, got home, tried it and it did not work out of the package. Needless to say I was frustrated so I turned to UA-cam and found your video. Followed your instructions and it works reliably now. Thanks!
Thanks! I fixed my new automatic center punch and now suspect the old one would have worked just fine if I had found your video beforehand. Best of luck to you!
mine aint been right since i bought it years ago. That is until i saw this video and did what you said - works like a champ now. Back in the drawer it goes!! Thanks - Great vid!
Nice!! I was looking to buy one of these, but after seeing the negative reviews, thought better of it, Now that I know how to fix the problem, I;m off to Harbor Freight. Thanks Lenny!
Great! My Sterett punch wasn’t working right, just like yours. Did your recommended fix and she’s back to punching with the best of ‘em! Thank you Sir!
mine worked good out the box. though I love seeing that us more savvy folk can correct issues on otherwise perfectly functioning HF tools while saving money. thanks and i'll remember in case i also have the issue in the future.
I was in need of an explanation on how this tool was put together after my kid disassembled it and threw it across the car (I keep one in the car to break windows in case of emergency). I had all the parts, just needed to assemble them in the right order. Your video showed me this, and gave me some great tips on making mine work more smoothly. I intend to get to those modifications made later today. Thanks!
I ended up getting pissed off when it was fucking up so I just hit it with a hammer like a traditional punch and completely ruined it. I still use it like that however and it works alright.
Wait, you sanded the piston with a hole in it and didn't blow out the hole? .. and you buy cheap stuff then call it names? How about a positive approach: Hey guys, here's how you can save money on a centerpunch and get it to work reliably ...
