i have been watching these for over a month on youtube, my question is why wasnt the chris rock show as popular as Chapelle show. I aint american but we knew about chapelle show, we knew chris rock, he been a star, we even "everybody hates chris", i just wonder why we never heard about this show. was it atleast popular amongs you americans
Chris's humor contained an underlying racism element in a lot of his comedy. Some like it, some do not. I think Chappelle was more popular because his skits had more meat to them, with much less racism. As an American, I like them both.
Chris Rock's show was on HBO which you have to pay extra for, while Chappelle's show was on Comedy Central which is usually included in basic cable packages. Rock's show started back in the 90's and didn't get the same type of promotion that Chappelle's show got. Either way, they both have put in their time and are getting their just due now. Thanks to UA-cam, we can see their genius goes way back.
Different times. Nobody born before 1970 watches that stuff. Older people don’t like the same comedy. Racism played a roll I imagine. The time between the two shows represents a transition in cultures in my opinion. The people that lived through segregation and were indoctrinated into racism are dyeing off.
