- Gimnazija Kranj Great Christmas Concert 2017 - Invitation to the Dance. Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra and United Choirs performed this stunning music under the baton of maestro Nejc Bečan. The Orchestra sold out two consecutive nights, december 18th and 19th, 2017 in Gallus Hall, Cankarjev doma, Ljubljana, Slovenia, EU. They played as usual with great spirit and musical excelence. Concert master is Nejc Avbelj. Our youth orchestra set another musical milestone. Sound design: Mitja Krže; Concert and film director: Primož Zevnik;

Libertango is a composition by tango composer Ástor Piazzolla, recorded and published in 1974 in Milan. The title is a portmanteau merging "Libertad" (Spanish for liberty) and "Tango", symbolizing Piazzolla's break from Classical Tango to Tango Nuevo. According to the performance database at All Music Guide, the composition has appeared on over 500 separate releases.

Splendid performance! I knew from past concerts that Aleš Klančar on trumpet was an exceptional musician. This performance proves it. I also really enjoy watching Miha Firšt on base. He really puts his heart into the music. And from many thousands of people all over the world; thank you Primoz, Maestro Bečan, Concert Master Avbel and all your incredibly talented musicians for such wonderful inspiring music!

Hello Primož... For many years now, I have been listening to "Libertango" as performed by Katica Illényi with her sister Anikó on cello and brothers Ferenc and Csaba also on violins, backed by a full orchestra at the Bartók Concert Hall in Budapest (2011).

I thought I would never hear a performance to equal theirs, until I found this one last year. So completely different an arrangement and sound, but equally beautiful. Martjaž on trombone and Aleš on trumpet should be very proud of their performances. Another standout was Ana Lombar on accordian (harmonika). But the whole orchestra, as conducted by Nejc, is a "standout", as always. And that ending! What a surprise. 😀🙄
Questions... is Neža Peternel (on flute) related to Marjan, by chance?
And is Lara Bogataj related to Maruša and her brother? Just being nosy. 🙄😊
