- Women’s Forum Australia Research Fellow Stephanie Bastiaan has slammed the government’s inaction against domestic violence.
This comes amid a domestic violence surge in Australia in 2024, which sparked calls for greater action from the government.
“We have a government who can’t define what a woman is,” Ms Bastiaan told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“It’s all very well pouring money into domestic violence services for women when men can access them.
“It’s a big problem.”
Imagine defining violence in such a way that you get to ignore the biggest victims.

I worry when issues that should be solved by parents get mandated by the government. They are already too intrusive in our lives (eg. look at covid mandates and lockdowns).

What is, or is not, a woman should be completely irrelevant to the issue of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a very serious issue and the perpetratlrs and victim can be either men or women. Ending violence in the home should be the end goal not casting one sex as perpetual perpetrators and the other as only victims. Victims should receive equal consideration whether they are women or men!
Yes, but they each need their own single sex shelters, not big scary men in women's shelters pretending to be female. That's the problem here.

Defining a woman is needed inregards to DV against women , so that the transwoman (men) dont invade a biological womans privacy in hospitals, public toilets and dressing rooms, to stop transwomen (men) from taking DV money for Biological women and DV services for biological women .
A biological woman who has been a victim of DV by a man , does not want to go to a DV shelter to sit with 20 other men wearing dressess.
If a transwoman (man) is a victim of DV by another biological male (gay, transwoman, bisexual etc), then the Transwoman (man) needs to go to the mens shelter.

"Keep up the Skeer!" as Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest liked to say. What other massive changes have we seen recently? Wouldn't have a thing to do with increased immigration would it? The stats need to be put into context. We already know some cultural groups are over represented when it comes to violence.
Make it illegal for under 16 year olds to use the internet without parental controls. This will mean the parents will get charged if their child is gaining access to inappropriate sites. This may force more parents into parenting properly

How about they jail the providers for putting the rot in front of us. The computers 🖥 at school have filters, installed at your expense Australia 🇦🇺. But children can easily access porn at school because the expensive filters are left off by school staff, as they filter out too much and the kids cannot research properly for assignments. This was what the local headmaster told me when they were first installed.
Brilliant. The closest thing to guidance here is a Triple P parenting program, all about tough love. Love is tough, being loving whilst being tough is difficult but rewarding. The amount of kids without parental lockouts is incredible. If there isn't a lock on they can definitely refine that charge to be specific. It's realistic, what you are suggesting, it is said often among parents who care.

Yes I am, shades of grey, reading your name profile and using that as an example I have no words. I bust peddos online actually and you have many reasons to know what kids are doing. Any parent can turn off the wifi, keep the bedroom door open and actively participate in life away from the screen. If you don't know what your teen is up to, it's your loss, and less guidance leading them into society. Enough said.
