2008 Ohio State @ USC One Hour

- In the biggest game of the season thus far, #5 Ohio State visits #1 USC for a showdown in front of a sell out crowd in the LA Memorial Coliseum. Ohio State will be starting freshman Terrelle Pryor at quarterback but will be without starting tailback Beanie Wells against a Trojan defense led by Rey Maualuga. USC counters with Mark Sanchez and Joe McKnight on offense. While USC and Ohio State have generally only played in Rose Bowls, USC has not lost to Ohio State since 1974, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this monumental early season battle.
This is how it will be as USC continues to rise in 2024 and beyond! Too fast, too powerful, too damn much! We will do this at Michigan and Ohio State. Can’t wait!
Yessir! Go Trojans!!
Yeah, I don't think so. USC is far gone from their dominant Pete Carroll era, and the Big Ten is the best they've ever been in the time since. Ohio State and Michigan aren't worried about USC. USC should be worried about even getting past teams like Iowa and Penn State, even those teams are far better than SC.
I paid $350 for a ticket to this game. Worth every penny! FIGHT ON!!!
That interception from Malaluga late 2nd quarter is one of my favorite interceptions. The crowd roaring and doing it on Ohio State is priceless.
That was so money! I was there to.
8:59 rip 🪦 Kevin Ellison #4 USC safety he died years ago. Due to mental illness. His position at my High School. Athletic advisor 🏫 in 2016 he taught some strength training techniques. And I use to lift weights beside him.
Amazing to see the glory days of USC but at the same time the tragic lost of both #4's
#4 Joe Mcknight
#4 Kevin Ellison
This team was made for the playoff. A shame, it wasnt around back then.
Hard to imagine that USC will be in the Big Ten conference next year. It seems very bizare.
@@Mrcharles. It will be surreal to see them going to the midwest on a regular basis.
This SC team should have won The National Championship!
How did they lose to Oregon State?
@@weithkilliams3686 They got caught in a crazy night. USC always struggles at Oregon state. One of those things you cant explain
If they had the playoff system back then I think they would have.
@@weithkilliams3686 the sec committee kept them out
They fucked us that year I'm still not over how they did us that year if there a a cfp we would have won a national championship
As an Ohio State fan, this game brings me much shame. Ohio State looked confused and overmatched for most of the game.
It's hard to beat USC in September in the Coliseum. It's an oven down on the Coliseum floor; the Trojans practice in it. I've watched a lot of opponents wilt down there, so there is no shame. A few weeks later would have made a big difference. I'm a USC fan and alum and I've always admired Jim Tressel and some of the talented guys who played for him. I'm glad we won, but I would have liked a better game.
@@JohnHoulgate Hard to imagine that these two teams will be playing in the same conference starting next year. Who would've thought of that?
You mean the whole game except their first play.
The only thing that could truly beat USC was the BCS
Oregon State
This era of college football was the best!
The fans was charged for this game! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
When SC is rollin there isn't anything anyone can do about it. Fight On!
Kinda funny to hear Musberger subtly dig into Herbstreit’s OSU homerism
This USC Defense finished #1 in the Nation. Statistically better Defense than Georgia's National Championship Defenses.
Fact.
Total and complete DOMINATION. OSU scored a field goal in the first quarter and then the Trojans embarrassed them for the rest of the game. How bad was it? The Trojans spent most of the fourth quarter subbing reserves and running out the clock in the face of the #5 team in the nation. I miss the Peter Carroll era.
USC absolutely destroyed The Ohio St.. When SC was dominant and ruled college football. Buckeye fans probably want to forget about this game, but I sure dont.
Playoff that year woulda been USC, Florida, Penn State, and Texas
OU, not Penn State
@@Robxlovesmusicfacts
I was so pissed that Beanie Wells couldn't play and it gave Ohio State an excuse. We would of absolutely crushed him.
We were the best team would of crushed Oklahoma or Florida. Best defense of the last 20 yeara
tatertots00 With that defense, no doubt the best team that year. What robbery that they never had a shot at the title.
@@kidzbopsux absolute robbery. It should of been Oklahoma vs USC. But we would of smacked Florida too. Kevin Ellison, Rey and Cush would of snaapped Tebow like a twig.
This game reminds you how great Sharece Wright is. He was the most talented corner of the Pete Carrol era. And sadly after this game he wouldn't play again for 2 years
Their defense was great but could there offense keep up with Florida and Oklahoma i doubt it
@@adrianwells9066 USC offense was more than good enough. But we wouldn't need to score much anyway.
Think Florida would've been a good game. They were similar to y'all. After they lost none of their games were competitive.
Notre Dames new coach is number 1 who got burned by Stanley Havili. 24:59
As a Notre Dame fan, it's strange how time flies. If you told me a player who was part of Jim Tressell's OSU teams would be the new HC for Notre Dame I wouldn't believe a word of it.
I mean usc definitely destroyed OSU. It happens. That was a sick good USC team. The ONE time we scored a TD it got called back by a BS holding call. Difference in the game? Absolutely positively no, but it certainly didn’t help any sort of momentum
Buckeye D played good...shoulda just went with Pryor the whole game with Beanie Wells out. Not going to beat a team like that without a good offense.
Gave them a beating down and cut them no slack and no mercy, doesn't even look like a Ohio state team.
Ohio State had no chance. They did finally break the spell in the 2017 cotton bowl or something.
Yes the route is on(defeat)6vs17
SC played two bad quarters that whole season. 20 minutes really.
Was elated ABC caught this boner as the ncaa played OSU vs LSU in the natty the yr prior. As if to say, its the only team that can make money. That knowing they grad their entire offense including heisman QB. Oh and Wells sit that game also 2nd qtr on. Also the last team SC ever had.
OSU was DESTROYED BY USC THAT DAY AT THE COLI. NEVER SEEN ANY FANS AS DISRESPECTFUL THAN OSU FANS THAT DAY. DRUNK OSU FANS KICKING CARS AND RIPPING OFF SIDE MIRRORS. OSU GOT DESTROYED BY A MUCH BETTER FOOTBALL TEAM; NO EXCUSES, ESPECIALLY FOR OSU FANS THAT DAY
They are known as the worst fans across the big ten.
bro you stuck in the past
It looks like you were drunk and seeing things. If those things happened it would have been reported on. Go have another drink.
@@bobbydenezza7795 That would be Michigan Fans , who last year threw icy snowballs at OSU fans after the game.
@Barney Weiss More class than Michigan or Alabama fans.
Jim Tressel is such a joke.
Announcer: What do you need to do to get back in this game?
Tressel: Well we need to stop having penalties….
Dude you’re getting BLOWN OUT! You are unprepared and overmatched. Your penalties aren’t the issue! SC is kicking your rump. What you need to do is get back on the plane and get as far away from this USC team as you can. And guess what? We are coming to the Big 10 and will DOMINATE THIS PATHETIC OVERRATED TEAM ALL OVER AGAIN!
20 returning starters for Overrated State in the 2008 season? ROFLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, THEY ARE SOOOOOOOOO BAD! What a joke.
Back when SC was a top tier program, so loaded with talent, fast forward 12 year's later..... A now mediocre at best program where's Pete Carroll when you need him, I don't even know USC's current head coach's name 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🙅🏽♂️
Its Ted Tollner II.
The current one is Clay Helton. He went with USC to the Rose Bowl in 2017 and won in an AMAZING game against Penn. State. That finished off the 10-3 year for them. They finished in third behind Bama and Clemson. But no. Not as good as Ol Pete was
@@wishihadavette_2517 Not one of those players he recruited. In fact every decent player left early from that team. What has he done since then? 24-15, no bowl wins, 0-3 vs Notre Dame, lost to Cal for the first time in 13 years, Lost to Ohio State for the first time since 1974 USC was 7-0, lost to Wisconsin for the first time ever 5-0 before him, lost to Iowa for the first time since 1961 was 6-0. Lost to Stanford, Cal, UCLA and Notre Dame in the same season. He is utter TRASH!!
@@Papawill13 that's because he needed to stop running practice like sark they would stop tackling after week 3 or so where as the top tier programs tackle all year.
