Mooojojojojo
Literally the best reply that fucking moron could've gotten
'Why you think you're so smart, you just play video games"
Fucking moron doesn't understand this guy can buy his lowlife with the money he earns by playing these very video games
Atleast he's playing what r u doing? Watching? 😂

ay he aint wrong tho LOL
This answer shows that he is actually incredibly intelligent and very very self-aware- Dang I enjoy Shroud
The amount of people that didnt realize his tweet saying "I'm going pro in valorant" was an april fools joke blows my mind
I still didn't realise lmao
it was a pipe dream we know:,( you gotta have hope though
I think some are trolling him
Unless... 😉
I think he also announced his retirement in April Fools Day isn't it
People have this idea that pros quit playing professionally in their early 20's because they age out of their peak ability, but it seems like most pros I've seen talk about it say its actually just burn out. Imagine playing a single game 10+ hours a day, with the same people on your team and the same couple of teams of enemies. All day, every day, for years and years and years. That's the perfect mixture for burnout right there, and if you could change and be a variety streamer, making more money and having fun while doing it, its a no brainer imo.
Stupid not to, actually . Why wouldn't you , right ?
Not pro, but I played Mordhau on a competitive tournament level and can confirm that it's such a burn. I still play the game every day but the requirement to play and pressure to stay ahead of the curve was draining to say the least. Cant imagine playing at pro level in a game like CS.
true. as someone who almost went pro in rocket league, i burned out because of mental illness rather than peaking. in fact i was on the come up and my depression and anxiety and OCD got the better of me and I haven't opened the game in half a year.
Hmmm but why do professional sport players keep playing their game for 10 to 15 years? Is it better than playing a game with constant updates or play a sport with stagnant rules? Something about esports make pros not last as long as sport pros
@@stints2749 Its a lot easier to quit a pro esport than it is to quit pro sports. Way more pressure and way more publicity on those guys. Also they're under contracts worth millions. Could tie into why a lot of domestic abuse cases pop up surrounded professional sports players.

That's how not interesting that game is; nobody is playing that shit i know it's on closed beta or something but come on i've played some closed beta games it atleast have a decent amount of players in that beta, i think that streamers hyped it so much thats the game lost it's charm that's the problem with the new releases they always want to have the success of another game and starts dumping all of their resources on advertising the game instead of developing it let's be honest this game is no way near counter strike and probably never will be.
If it gets released in sea it would blow the shit up. Riot is dumb as hell why would they go west first

@@mirrar_2800 Maybe so, but it's cod, not CS.
@@mirrar_2800 dude cod is just such an easy game u cant compare it with anything
@@m_e_i_k_r_o_3_0_33 By my comparison I'm not trying to compare CS (simple) to COD (scump). But still scump is one of the Most-winning Cod pros and therefore I think he is, as shroud said in this vid, slightly above other COD pros. And COD might be easy, but being pro at any game is hard af. There is even a professional scene in folding paperplanes, even tho folding a paperplane is ez af, hope this makes sense :D

He literally can't go pro. He has a contract with Mixer, there is no way he can just go pro. He would not be able to balance streaming and going pro. He wouldn't have the time. Also he is just getting older and older.
DaRkJ4ck he has the skill to go pro. also the video literally explains why he won’t go pro. if he wanted to drop everything and go pro good for him. i’m speaking hypothetically
Not all pro can become good streamer, and not all good streamer can become pro.. shroud is the latter case, his pro carrier was below mediocre..... streaming on the otherhand.....

Shroud's editors and UA-cam managers need WAY, WAY more recognition than they do right now, I wish shroud would sort of talk about them and maybe bring them up on stream or give them more publicity.

@@BrianFurios Your answer makes no sense lol. The original poster asked a 'yes or no' question lol. But no, I don't think Shroud has a podcast, but he definitely should. There is a niche and market for pro gamers to make a podcast to talk about topics, and they should definitely do it.

You are right about the consistency. I started to think about it and a super consistent MVP was Michael Jordon in basketball. The whole what is rich thing somehow reminded me of the breaking bad quote where Hank says to Walt "You're the smartest guy I know, but you're too stupid to see."
How?
That was a very sad scene too :(
@@bated_8247 like before that question shroud was saying why are people so dumb as to go out there and risk their lives by gathering and protesting....the only reason they are doing that is bcoz they are poor and have to work 9 to 5...so if they were rich like shroud they wouldn't have to go there and protest and they wont be a dumb person.. the question is directly aimed at shroud are you a "smart" person bcoz u arent out there protesting or are just "rich"so you get to stay in the comfort of your home and judge people...while shroud is so "smart " like we already know by his gaming...but he fails to realize this whilst he is juding poor and desperate people so thats why the breaking bad quote fits. as Walter also was also very smart at a certain thing (like cooking ultra meth and doing it right under the nose of Dea) but he was too stupid to read the situation where hank was about to get killed.

I think being rich doesn't directly make a person smart, and there's not a distinct correlation between brilliance and financial wealth, but there's more freedom and less stress when you're financially stable and for some that is enough to simulate mental health that creates an environment/opportunity of gaining knowledge.
In other words it's easier to read up on philosophy, learn about math and science, and dive deeper into what interests you the most when your mind isn't focused on how you gonna pay your rent and car payment and still have enough to eat until next paycheck. When you're living paycheck to paycheck and one mishap like a vehicle needing maintenance work would take you months to a few years to recover from... the whole time you have to think about how you gonna make it to work on time, plan chores around another person's schedule who is willing to help you (driving you around as you try to be as little if an inconvenience as possible).
Stress is the biggest inhibitor of knowledge and simply thinking clearly.

Its a pain in the ass but I feel like you need to look at it as a hobby before looking at it as a profession. Have fun with it and eventually it'll evolve into something!
I can feel you dude
Genetics does definitely play some role; reaction times, hand-eye co-ordination and mindset are all affected by genetics to differing degrees. That said, without training, you'll get nowhere. Same as any sport. And you can obviously train reaction times, hand-eye co-ordination and so on but the best of the best will often be that much further ahead due to their genetic advantage compared to say others that put in the same time, same training but are just a little worse. Mindset though is the biggest one which CAN be genetics but is often just as much developed through nurture. If you don't have the mindset to take failure as a process and you let it get to you too often or you don't have that natural aggressiveness I guess, to really go for what you want, that drive to succeed, then you won't make it. That's the biggest factor for pretty much anything in life. Some people though are born with differing wiring that doesn't naturally tend to them being that way and others are brought up in a way that they don't have that drive or focus. Changing it, even if possible, is incredibly difficult once you've become a full grown adult. Usually there's a core of ourselves that just doesn't change no matter what and if you don't have that urge to be the best naturally inside you, I don't believe you can 100% change that. That said, there is still a LOT you can do and you can still become an incredible player or sportsmen, musician, whatever it is. You just might not become the VERY best.
Mindset is not fucking genetics wtf
Beautiful shroud speaking the truth in the first second of the video I love him
05:42 is where he starts talking about going pro
6:41 over, and over, and over again.
reaction time can be genetic, problem solving too, level of IQ, hand eye coordination. Factors which will affect how good a player can be. So there is genetic elements which can mean some players are naturally better than others.

Shroud what you said about professional sports in comparison to esports as far as talent pool is correct. In most sports there are maybe 2-3 people at the top or on your team that are just so good that not even other pros can touch them (example: Roger Federer at Wimbledon, his win streak is insane). It goes down in tiers like you said idk if anyone here plays fantasy football but that's a good example of skill tiers as well.

You can run and lift to increase physical performance and see massive gains. The same cannot be said for reflexes and cognition, which is what competitive gaming is built around. Until we reach a point where we can increase those things like athletes can increase their physical performance, we will not see variance between Esports teams.
I dont think its all training. I actually think it comes down to physical and mental coordination or being in sync with your reaction timing and then you start to develop on those skills afterwards by training, experimenting, using better equipment, etc. A good eg. 2 kids try out for a soccer team, neither of them have ever played before but 1 outshines the other due to natural ability they can both practice with the best coaches and put it all the time in the world but as long as the one who stood out keeps training, the other one will never get to his level.
I can't help but say "Congratulations Shroud , you're one of us now 😂😂"
10:30 of course there is genetics involved, people have faster reaction times, people are smarter. Some people are more talented than others. Otherwise a pro scene would be dumb anyway, if it was all based on the time someone put in because you can look at someones profile and be like ah only 10k hours he is gonna loose for sure because this other guy has 11k.
Yep, I was surprised to see him claim that so nonchalantly. To be fair, he did correct himself a minute later, and said that it could be genetics, but we don't know it yet.
I agree with you that, in all probability, it would have to be genetic to some degree. Reaction times, hand-eye coordination, precision of motor control, attention, eye movement, memory, stress handling...all of those seem extremely important for successful gaming at the top level.
Watching bjergsen play league and stream i saw this point a lot. He goes months or weeks without streams. Especially in season, and people would just post his streams by spectating
I think you have a fair and straight forward view on it. I'd agree
How do you know when you're rich? When you stop looking at prices at the grocery store.

Shroud is looking nerd with those glasses.
Actually, he is a gaming nerd!

People don't realize that when you go pro it's no longer just a game, it's a job and a lifestyle. The amount of sheer will and dedication you need for that is immense, people who don't take that seriously will burnout quicker than a flame on water. People are in love with the idea of a pro, not what it means to actually be one. Playing the same game for 8+ hours a day with the same people is torture for people who wants to be a pro to "play" the game they love, or to have "fun". That is the hard truth when things like pro gaming becomes mainstream. If you're a NFL player, you just don't practice football, you practice workouts, lifting, diets, etc. In Esports you practice teamwork, mechanics, and macros. And for the average person who is good at a game but doesn't have the mentality that fits a pro lifestyle, it's hard even if you like the game. The thing you have to ask for yourself for almost anything career related is, Do you only like the idea of doing it? Or do you actually love and want to do it? That is not an easy task to do, part of life.
