Couple of things. When Forrest was in the Hospital and got the letters. It was not letters from Jenny it was letters that were returned, so Jenny never received the letters. Also the scene with hotel with the flashlights was an actual event called “The Watergate scandal” after the name of the Hotel that Forrest was staying in. That was the result of the resignation of President Nixon.
There's a lot lost in translation without the foundational knowledge of US history. It doesn't seem like they picked up on Jenny's having been sexually abused by her father either. Man, Forest Gump is one of the best movies ever made. I’ve seen it a bunch of times, but I’ll admit my eyes got a tiny bit damp.😂😢 I’m very happy these guys enjoyed it and truly got the message.
I love watching their reactions. They should also watch Apollo 13, with both Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) and Gary Sinise (Lieutenant Dan). Such a great movie based on a true story.
Forrest Gump is a magnificent movie. Telling the story of a guy who grew up with some challenges. Difficulty in learning, unable to walk without supports. But his heart was always on the right side. And his mother never gave up on him. He eventually met a girl who helped him learn to talk and read more properly. And eventually, he even managed to walk properly without needing his supports, and when that happened, he ran! Forrest's learning disability may have never truly disappeared, he was still a bit slow at times, but it didn't matter. He understood still, and took things seriously often. His ability to run made him an excellent man for Rugby, he graduated collage, and he eventually got enlisted in the military. Once in the military he met with people he became friends with. One of them, Bubba he lost in the Vietnam war... But his selfless nature still saved several people, even if some weren't all too happy with it, such as Dan. Forrest was always a person with the heart in the right place. Even when he gained immense popularity, and even after meeting the President on several occasions, he never changed. The fame never went to his head. He was always the same. Every person he ever met in his life, eventually got a better life because of him. Bubba may have died, but because of profit with a successful shrimp industry put in motion by Forrest, Bubba's family profited greatly from it thanks to Forrest's kindness. Lieutenant Dan, whom originally despised having been saved by Forrest, eventually found a reason to live and ended up became extremely successful in life afterwards as well, because Forrest never gave up on him. Forrest's mother got to experience their son becoming incredibly successful in life, and their early support and belief in him was not for nothing. They succeeded as a parent and died a happy mother. Eventually we get to Jenny... She ended up living a rather horrible life at times. Filed with abuse and drugs... The only person who ever seemed to care for her was Forrest. He NEVER gave up on her, and he never stopped loving her either. And THAT devotion and loyalty eventually ended up helping Jenny out too. And when Forrest realize that she got him a son... He was originally afraid his son was a lot like him, less intelligent than normal, but turns out he was not. In fact he was even top of his class. And for obvious reasons, Forrest couldn't have been more proud. However, Jenny would eventually pass due to becoming too sick. But before she did, she would marry Forrest. And the story ends with Forrest finding new purpose as a father. Truly shows that no matter what Challenges your life starts of with... Your future can ALWAYS get bright and fantastic. Helping people, and caring for others will ALWAYS have a positive effect.
His way of taking things seriously and literally was a big part of his success. He didn't always understand sarcasm or metaphor but he was always genuine. And that seemed to help him through all of the challenges.
Im glad they got the gist of the movie. there is so much stuff that the men missed becuase of the history and context from it. Seeing this in the theater back then and listening to the people laugh in the theater and react to it was something that i wont forget. That itself was wonderful. Glad they enjoyed it too.
I loved your reactions, this movie always makes my eyes wet. Also a note: The letters he got in the hospital were his letters, because Jenny was not present home so they sent the mail back.

YES. They would love Star Wars. They should show them the movies in release order, maybe putting the 2 (3 if you count the Clone Wars movie, but you don't really need to, do you?) spinoffs between the prequels and the sequels. They might have difficulties uploading it, though, since Disney keeps its copyrighted properties pretty close to them. However, they got away with Frozen and Moana, and many other channels have gotten away with uploading their reactions, so they might be safe.
You should try to see another film with the same actor! It is called The Green Mile, and it is gut-wretching and beautiful, a real masterpiece. It also talks about some really heavy topics. I think it would be a really good thing for them to see.
The Watergate Hotel was where he was during the President Nixon section. Where he called to complain about the flashlights in the office across from him, that was the Nixon Watergate Scandal. It was why he resigned.
There's a lot of subtleties that I don't think they caught while watching this. Most of them had to do with the American history that was taking place around them. But also Jenny. She was sexually abused by her father. That's why her life was spiraling out of control so badly. The past was haunting her too much.
It was interesting to see the scenes where there were very specific cultural references that these people didn't pick up on but instead it was interesting to see what they took out of the scenes.
1. The music rights alone must have cost a small fortune💲💲 2. Kurt Russell did the voice for Elvis. 3. IRL Sally Fields is only 10 years older than Tom Hanks. 4. Having gotten his degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. Not a recruit. His ASVAB kills that. 5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around. 6. Normally an enlisted Army person would be fully aware of his/her separation date. 5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😋 8. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony.. 9. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he loses his. 10. At the rally Forrest says, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that." 11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking. 13. "Sometimes I guess there're aren't enough rocks" 14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis. 15. Often when he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that" 16 Keep in mind, if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey. You guys need to do the GOAT. Tom Hanks in Stephen King's "The Green Mile. You will CRY.😭😭😭
If there's a movie Babu should see, its August Rush (2007). Its all about the power of music and family. Forrest Gump is a good movie, but its hard to really understand all the references if you don't have a good grasp of American history/culture.
These gentlemen could just appreciate the general storyline. The one fellow recognized Elvis from videos, but they could not know references like the KKK, John Lennon and 'Imagine', Watergate, LBJ, etc. That is half the fun of the movie. No wonder they did not give it 5 out of 5. They thought of this as the story of a common man, overcoming difficulty. Nope -- he has the power of 'magical realism' where he is granted speed, luck at fishing, excellence at ping-pong, etc. It is either blessing, or plot armor. I can't tell.
Though it is never explicitly state, I've always assumed the disease that killed Jenny was AIDS. The timing was right historically, as were a lot of the behaviours she engaged in that were considered factors in catching the condition. Funny seeing little Haley Joel before he started seeing dead people, but the whole cast was pretty damn solid. My only regret is so much of the content is relevant if you know the history of the events, so I don't blame the guys reviewing it for knocking something off the score.
Vietnam was HORRIBLE, ppl!! I don't remember it even tho' I was born in 1968 I just remember my drunken uncle Phil who served & came back sometimes It's amazing how much they pick up on and DEEPER that we don't normally think of, this will be a BETTER century than you probably assume This was just historical events tied around an affected person, very entertaining That they keep getting stuff even before it plays out shows you the power of the human spirit
Have them watch the horror movies Terrifier and Terrifier 2! Just kidding that would go WAY too far. It would be cruel to show them something that extreme. These are pure souls. Love this channel.

There were many historical , cultural references which they didn't recognise which is understandable. I'm glad they got the other essence of the film
I've been waiting for this. Love to you all!
You should show them ( The Shawshank Redemption ) next. I love Forrest Gump but Shawshank should have won the best movie award at the Oscars that year.
Got to see major cultural differences, and i guess shouldnt have expected for them to grasp any of the historical american events. These guys are great its so interesting to see their perspective on things. Very nice people
They probably didn't understand the Watergate stuff. Not that it was super important to the story...but definitely a touchstone in American history.
The author of the book of this movie is a man named Winston Groom he as someone who lived in the south had original ideas for the book until after the book published Robert Zemeckis thought of making a movie about the book but leave in the intentions of love, Determination and purpose
33:58 Spitting straight facts.
I'm sorry I don't even yet know his name, but he's always so clever in his analysis. He always gets it a 100 percent.
Stupid is as Stupid Does..what a prophetic phrase.
Thank u guys for the ratings at the end and explanations! That was my favorite part! Americans need to hear and respect each view... Cultures are different but people are the same! 😑 was such a beautiful realization and respectful way to show that different "people/cultures/whatever are truley the same! Love your reactions and U❤
.❤❤
Classic! I'm so happy y'all are reviewing movies! I enjoy it!
You're only missing popcorn and sodas. It's a tradition.
This is one of the most beautiful reactions I have ever seen - thank you so much!
A Hindi version of Forrest Gump came out last year interesting trailer on UA-cam
I absolutely loved watching this with you guys! So glad they liked it, too! Please do more movies!💗💗💗
This is the greatest movie of all time. It has a bit of every thing and it mixes in a lot of worldwide cultural events.
Not that worldwide, though. Very US specific, in fact.
It's a great movie but definitely not the greatest of all time, doesn't touch The Godfather or The Shawshank Redemption by any means.
Good movie, sure. Greatest of all time?? Considering there is sooo much cinema out there (not just American), I would never go that far.
I don’t think it applies to worldwide events either-Elvis, segregation, JFK, Vietnam, Watergate, etc-screams USA
@@brooklynbutter5357 I agree 100% there are so many to choose from. I'd put The Shawshank Redemption and Godfather much higher than this one let alone some foreign movies as you mentioned
@@EMD1028 Word. Dude up top is talking crazy- makes me think they are just young or haven’t seen movies earlier than a certain decade or perhaps even with subtitles. I mean, to say a movie from 1994 is the greatest when we have movies that are literally 100 years old smh 🤦🏽♀️
To each his own I guess. But I had to say something lol
Im glad they watched and understood the story. It really does have messages that anyone in any culture relates to, basic human struggles
Thank you for showing them this wonderful movie, and thank you for showing us their wonderful reaction. It was a joy to see this ❤
One of the best movies ever made. Tom Hanks is my most favorite actor!
Wonderful story about a pure hearted man. Jenny was broken by her father and her life was one without love exept for Forest.
the best man for many girl are friendzone, because the girl fear the happiness and choice badman, relation fail, and she angry on entire people man.. 😭
@@Kamallounetthis isn't incel fodder. Jenny doesn't think she's good enough for Forrest. (Or anyone else.)
@@Kamallounet Creep. You are not entitled to women's bodies. Stay away from women and girls.
You really have to know American history/culture to fully appreciate this movie. They are missing so much context.
I could barely read the subtitles because of tears in my eyes. What a sentimental masterpiece!
Still, glad they enjoyed the movie and glad to see you continuing to show them Western cinema. I am repeating once more that I would be really intrigued to see what these guys make of the Lord of the Rings, but the same guys need to see all 3 films.
@@callinglarry The movie is enjoyed around the world...sure, knowing American history probably makes the experience richer, but so many people (from different countries) have first seen it as kids (with no proper knowledge of American history) and yet the movie's had a profound efect on them. American movies are popular around the world, people without contextual knowledge are still able to enjoy them. People outside of the US are completely used to watching foreign movies, it's not a problem...
@@callinglarry Sure... I just never tought Forrest Gump was an inaccessible movie. I don't know if you're from the US...but the movie is an absolute classic in so many countries...I watched it as a kid for the first time, knew nearly about the US and still loved it. It's kind of a classic in plenty of places...even if you don't get some cultural or historical references...you kind of learn them as you go...
@@callinglarry I'm sure they will react to more movies in the future, including some that are even more universal than Forrest Gump. :) Tbh, I've never met anyone who hasn't seen Forrest Gump, it's really beloved here in Europe. :) I've heard people quote the box of chocolates line in so many languages. :D Enjoy your day, Bob Sacamano! :D :)
Nice reaction. Robert Zemeckis has many interesting movies. Back to the future, Christmas carol etc. I think they would like them too
Man, Forest Gump is one of the best movies ever made. I’ve seen it a bunch of times, but I’ll admit my eyes got a tiny bit damp.😂😢 I’m very happy these guys enjoyed it and truly got the message.
I REALLY LOVE ALL THE MOVIE REACTIONS!!! SO GLAD YOU'RE DOING THEM! NOW DO A LOT OF HORROR AND SCI-FI!!! PLEASE?!
This should be good.
My thoughts exactly!
Im glad they got the gist of the movie. there is so much stuff that the men missed becuase of the history and context from it. Seeing this in the theater back then and listening to the people laugh in the theater and react to it was something that i wont forget. That itself was wonderful. Glad they enjoyed it too.
I loved you folks reviewing this! -Assalamu alaikum!
You guys need more subscribers!!
I loved your reactions, this movie always makes my eyes wet.
Also a note: The letters he got in the hospital were his letters, because Jenny was not present home so they sent the mail back.
A lot of historic context in this film just went right over their heads... 😂
I wonder if they get the historical reference to India in the indian version called Laal Singh Chaddha
@@jedidiahhoyle1986 yep they do get...many references... including india -Pakistan war...but the movie was soo badly made
I'm European and even I had trouble with some of the historical references the first time I saw it
You can enjoy the movie without them just fine, but there are so many obscure historical jokes, it'd be unfair to demand that people who are not even American catch all of them
Obviously
@@jedidiahhoyle1986 Indian version??? Forest dancing in braces bollywood?
Do you post full reactions on patreon?

I love watching the team react to movies!! Forrest Gump always makes me cry. I suggest watching 'Star Wars: A New Hope'!
This was a wonderful reaction, thank you.
One of my favourite movies and I can watch it anytime. ☺
You are helping the guys so much
I love this movie and I'm from very close to where Bubba was from in the film.
1. The music rights alone must have cost a small fortune💲💲
5. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😋
That's all I have to say about that."
11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking.
13. "Sometimes I guess there're aren't enough rocks"
14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis.
15. Often when he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that"
16 Keep in mind, if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey.
Maaaan u guys left out some CLASSIC scenes i would have loved to see them react to!!
I feel the references are prolly gonna be lost on them.
I predicted the same as I'm only aware of some as a 40 year old Australian
Vietnam was HORRIBLE, ppl!! I don't remember it even tho' I was born in 1968 I just remember my drunken uncle Phil who served & came back sometimes
It's amazing how much they pick up on and DEEPER that we don't normally think of, this will be a BETTER century than you probably assume
This was just historical events tied around an affected person, very entertaining
That they keep getting stuff even before it plays out shows you the power of the human spirit
I really enjoy watching these reactions.
Unfortunately there is a lot in this movie that they would not understand, things that are American history specific.
@ 8:45 jeezus Raeen! 😂
BEAUTIFUL!!! Oh I wish BADSHAW had seen it too! :)
Can you all react to the first 3 'spy kids' movies? They are from the early 2000s and kind of paved the way for the genre in CGI animated kids movies
Maybe also 'Shark Boy and Lava Girl', it is directed or funded by the same company
That's good to know they like this movie. I know I do. They should watch couple of movies with Tom Hanks. And they should watch couple of war movies.
❤ Happy Friday!
Have them watch the horror movies Terrifier and Terrifier 2! Just kidding that would go WAY too far. It would be cruel to show them something that extreme. These are pure souls. Love this channel.
Nobody understands Jenny, she was sexually abused by her father, she felt broken and unworthy of Forrest, she didn't feel like she was good enough for him, not the other way around.
This movie has a lot of critical points in the USA's history which are not recognized by the villagers. Some should be, as part of the universal fight for a better world...but I really enjoy their point of view, somehow untouched by modern society's hypocrisy...
The movie is enjoyed around the world...sure, knowing American history probably makes the experience richer, but so many people (from different countries) have first seen it as kids (with no proper knowledge of American history) and yet the movie's had a profound efect on them. Someone should tell these lovely villagers that because they let him stsy in the Watergate Hotel, he saved the people in Asia from pain and war
Life of Pi or Lord of the rings next? ☺️🌸
I'm not sure if you are accepting recommendations, but I would LOVE to watch them react to the movie 'Nobody' (2021).
great movie total evergreen ^^
i really enjoy their reacts cause they are so into every video and movie
and polite too even clapping at forrest as he outruns the napalm attack ^^
never did i ever see that jenny was always running from her problems, and this is one of my top movies.
Forrest Gump doesn't have an inferiority complex (subtitles). He is literally slower than the rest of us. That hasn't stopped him though. Edit: Do these people not have subtitles or something?
I think it might had been lost in translation. The difference between him having a disability and how he perceives himself and how other perceive him
@@adrianhempfing2042 Fair enough
Will they watch the Temple Grandin movie? I love how supportive her mother was.
I really enjoy these movie reaction videos, and this was one of my favorites. I learn a lot from their perspective of the story and it is like watching the movie for the first time with new eyes. Thank you for you wonderful videos!
The Bollywood version of Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha is a great movie, and I would implore any fans of the original to watch the Indian version as well.
