the idea of questlines as :"A progressive multiple step quest" isnt that all a problem as a desing, the problem remained much more on the rewards and even some intermediate steps (DH questline in particular), the whole "I do this and get a win condition on its own" was the biggest offender imo

It's the card draw and mana cheat that went w/ some of the quests which made them unusually toxic to play against. Or to put it another way: it all depends on how many turns it usually takes for something to happen whether it's bad or not. If you OTK on turn 7, that's bad for the game. If you OTK on turn 12, you better have a solid defensive shell to even hope for viability. Same (w/ different turn thresholds) for scam vs. tempo, toxic hyper aggro/face dmg vs acceptable aggro/burn decks, etc.
I'll be honest here. I don't think the Demon Seed change itself does anything to the deck, with Dark Glare having more of an impact if anything. It might be still run, but hey. The deck CANNOT go infinite with it anymore. So thats a huge plus. Honestly though. The card is limiting way too much design space. It should honestly just go at this point.
If I was the person who got to change darkglare, i would have the refresh 3 mana, but I’d make it a 2/2/3 instead of a 3/3/4 so the card isn’t just completely dead. And for the quest line, I’d keep it at 10-10-10 but I’d make tamsin’s battlecry: Battlecry: For the rest of the game, the first time your opponent takes damage each turn, double it.

Make it ONLY protect you instead. So you can go infinite - but that's ALL you can do. You don't damage your opponent with it. Problem solved. (And still fun tbh)
Make it only work for first time you take dmg each turn so you can still grind down slower deck but you can't just flip from aggro board dump into burn/otk combo deck with single questline.
Im gonna be honest.... the mini-set will have to pull a LOT of work to make me come back... this meta still sucks, there's no deck that feels even remotely fun to face, every single deck you see on ladder has a card that say "I win fuck you" that being incendius in rogue or shaman, bio-pod in rogue and hunter, wheel of death in warlock, Climactic Necrotic Explosion in DK, cheese + timewarp drago in priesr, Dungar in Druid and many other cards I just cant be bother remembering considering HOW MANY THERE ARE!!!! Every deck feels like a scam deck... if you wanna play any slower and more value oriented strategies you just die because every single class can now just otk out of nowhere for no goddamn reason and if your deck cannot otk with 2 or 3 cards that your deck is not competitive viable.... this meta, this rotation broke me.... I haven't spent a single cent on the game in MONTHS! Ive playing the least I had in YEARS! And I'm basically quitting here and now even if I have an 11 start bonus and haven't reached legend yet cause my fucking good not a SINGLE game feels enjoyable..... playing hearthstone has been nothing but miserably lately and this patch doesn't seem to care about the underlying issue simply because most of those card won't be in standard anymore in a couple months.... there is literally no deck with a 50% winrate or higher that doesn't scams you in any way... NOT! A SINGLE! ONE! this needs to change....

The bigger issue is that the meta is just unfun. Most decks are scam decks or otk you or rely on some Solitaire-esque mechanic that completely removes any agency. Handbuff Paladin, asteroid shaman, otk pally, dungar druid, wheel lock, Sonya rogue, etc. I am a control player and it doesn't seem to matter what I do. Imo the meta is at a really bad place right now 😢
Agreed. I don't want to play aggro/otkstone and I never will. And it's nothing but both decks stomping on control and losing to each other which is really stupid and broken. Handbuff paladin is especially problematic because it's basically rogue but with buffs that goes infinite.
As someone who plays Asteroid Shaman... it honestly really is a control deck. It has (or really begs for) that OTK potential... but it has to maintain board control the entire time getting there or it gets overrun. I spend every single turn running the balance act in my head of "what do I have to kill/deal with versus what can I put off so I can put more rocks in my deck/buff those rocks"? It's not really a viable deck in the current format... we either can't make enough rocks/eruptions, or we can't draw enough rocks/eruptions, or we can't buff up enough rocks/eruptions, or we can't keep the board clear enough/ourselves alive long enough for our rocks to hit face (eruption always does).
They didn't even touch hydration station, Dungar, sleep under the stars, or any of druids other problematic cards. Every game in 2000+ legend against druid is an on rails spectator sport where you are watching the druid play the game and hoping they don't pull a turn 6 Exodia board. Apparently, Blizzard is okay with that.

It's weird... they acknowledge that "ramp" is a core Druid concept... yet they refuse to acknowledge that unless that ability is VERY limited/controlled, it makes Druid far too insanely powerful for most any other class to overcome. That Druids can reliably play a game-breaking 9-mana neutral on Turn 6 where any deck that isn't Pirate Shaman (which just got hit) is still developing hand/board position (and Pirate Shaman doesn't have the on-board power to break the giant taunts Dungar summons - and even if it did, once, Hydration Station means you've got to do it 2 more times - 4 more for UnKilliax - who still didn't get nerfed where it mattered - all the while it's healing the Druid to full for anything you already did to them) makes this a ridiculous situation and I can't for the life of me understand how/why @Blizzard can't see it (or refuses to acknowledge they see it, at least).

After some first Matches in Standard after the Nerfs, the Feeling is, as foreseen, pretty much the same. Some of the Broken Decks are a slight, tiny Bit less broken now... Rogue probably got the hardest (still soft) Hit.
They are nerfing DK in Arena, but leaving Priest and Paladin without any adjustments? The Priest and Paladin arena pools are absolute garbage. Priest more so than Paladin. I understand the nerf, but they need to adjust the horrible choices on the bad classes as well.

@olmollmk6681exactly. Power creep has gotten to the point where cards have to be broken in order to see play. I don’t even play standard anymore because playing broken cards over and over again is boring. I mostly stick to Arena despite its flaws as a game mode.
There's still Scoundrel + Incindius, or just generally Shadowstep/Scoundrel + any 3/4/6 cost minion. E.g. Shadowstepped Valerok, the Scoundrel mini into Arconite Defense Crystal (both getting the dupe)
I'm just surprised that they didn't make Tamsin cost 9 mana - keep everything else the same. Having to play a 9-mana minion (and then, ideally, OTK on 10) is within the power realm of wild.
The Tourist Mechanic is so problematic. Sigil in Demon Hunter wasn’t an issue anymore after the Treasure Distributor nerf, but it got nerfed because of Shaman now like other cards have been because of Druid. This will severely disadvantage DH in both Standard and Wild formats. Such a shame for my favorite class. Long live Shadow Priest now, I guess.
Crystal Cluster nerf is shit. Now if you play this on curve you can't even ramp by three unless you increase your max mana before. Dumb decision as always.
The fact that they have to nerf a card so many times just shows they pay very little attention to balance when they design these cards. It's purely about the flash when the cards are released to get you to spend money. Money over just making the cards right in the first place.

Glad Horizon’s Edge won’t be draftable in arena. Yesterday I died to three of them at the same on the board. They should at least cut one durability of it.
Honestly disappointed with the demon seed nerf, doesn't change the deck really at all, should of been reworked and murdered, and if not permanently banned I wouldn't minded either Darkglare nerf was nice but will not matter most likely
Huh the darkglare nerf is huge and changes the deck completely? The deck is devastated for the time being, until a new broken card is released and healthstone/MP is addressed next.

Can the boar weapon and the automatons be nerved, so we can actually interact with the 15/3 weapon and get those minions back with just one health instead of them just getting bigger on each resurrect it gets. to get mechs at turn 5 or six at 6 to seven health is just plain stupid and not fun at all...

Sonya was mostly used for decks that revolved around rng such as academic espionage, wishing well and excavate with the scorpion's spell which were actually fun but not reliable decks to play with, oh and the lame deck that revolved around deadly poison stacking on a weapon which was the only non-rng related deck she was used on. Hearthstone proves yet again that playing with fun, rng decks is a big no and that you should focus on druid turn 4-5 OTKS
I will freely admit that I play questlock in wild Not the dark glare version and frankly they could take it to fifteen damage and I'd still play it I will always have a soft spot for that win condition They can make it thirty damage a step and I would still play it And I rather they do that than rework tamsin
Demon Hunter was also spamming Sigil, make no mistake, DH was not innocent. They nerfed that card for a reason, and anyone with half a brain is glad that it got nerfed.
After patch my 1st matchup in wild was against a bot called "the easy you - DAIZU" with the non other nerfed deck seed warlock. Can u guess who won? The bot.. why? Cuz it's a pre-determined winner game as always..doeant matter what they nerf or buff..the system is the same!!!!
i love how none of these changes fix anything but nerf demon hunter for no reason other than shaman op demon seed is still a problem fundamentally so nerf means nothing and sonya will still break the game in some form later down the line so this patch is literally dust refundable cards do quests and log off again till the next patch nothing has changed
Hopefully all the other variants of the Demonseeds deck will be slowed down enough for Togwaggle to snatch the entire deck away. I just love making Demonseeds concede every time I successfully Togging their deck away.
Sometimes it’s a good thing for strong cards to exist. Ethereal Oracle is the glue that helps a lot of the new archetypes continue to exist and function properly. It’s one of the only cards in the set that’s actually *good* and not just *fine.*

For the 100th time ! There is no problem with unkiliax. It cost 9 manas, and he only provide healing. Hes not otk , not aggro , just a control tool ! Leave him as he is !
The problem isn't with him on itself... the problem is having fifteen billions of them! Taking off reborn would make resurrecting unkilliaxes more manageable. You're right, he's no otk but against certain decks... he kinda is tho! To get rid of it you either need to steal it, a very good board clear or to lose 4 different minions slamming them into it healing your opponent for 16 in the process. The problem isn't unkilliax the problem are the two classes that abuses it, druid and warrior. It might be 9 mana but... does it really comes down on turn 9...? No. No he doesn't.

The Demon Seed's final reward is frankly just the cherry on top. Self danage Warlock would still be viable without The Demon Seed. All the more reason the card should be reworked and stop being dodged. Grand magister needs to be once per game and so does Shudderwock. Gut these terrible solitaire cards already. And fix Velen devs! Saronite chain gang combo is so broken it necessitates silence.
I'm so sick of them avoiding the obvious fix to Demon Seed: don't make the opponent take damage FOR you but WITH you. You still hurt, you're just hurting them at the same time. It's been the right answer for years and they still refuse to do it.

I've seen a "kill you from in hand" hybrid naga pirate dh crop up recently.... its not fun to face at all and if your opponent has any healing you fold like a paper but considering there's like... 1 class that heals competitively speaking it shouldn't be all that bad.

I'm just surprised that they didn't make Tamsin cost 9 mana - keep everything else the same. Having to play a 9-mana minion (and then, ideally, OTK on 10) is within the power realm of wild.
The Tourist Mechanic is so problematic. Sigil in Demon Hunter wasn’t an issue anymore after the Treasure Distributor nerf, but it got nerfed because of Shaman now like other cards have been because of Druid. This will severely disadvantage DH in both Standard and Wild formats. Such a shame for my favorite class. Long live Shadow Priest now, I guess.

Crystal Cluster nerf is shit. Now if you play this on curve you can't even ramp by three unless you increase your max mana before. Dumb decision as always.
The fact that they have to nerf a card so many times just shows they pay very little attention to balance when they design these cards. It's purely about the flash when the cards are released to get you to spend money. Money over just making the cards right in the first place.

They just wont reign in the direct damage and it pisses me off charge needs to be nearly removed and replaced with rush in almost every case
Spells like oh manager, griftah amulets, sunset volley and most other direct damage cards need to be changed to hit minions only its just not fun to die from hand and every class does it
Can the boar weapon and the automatons be nerved, so we can actually interact with the 15/3 weapon and get those minions back with just one health instead of them just getting bigger on each resurrect it gets. to get mechs at turn 5 or six at 6 to seven health is just plain stupid and not fun at all...

Sonya was mostly used for decks that revolved around rng such as academic espionage, wishing well and excavate with the scorpion's spell which were actually fun but not reliable decks to play with, oh and the lame deck that revolved around deadly poison stacking on a weapon which was the only non-rng related deck she was used on. Hearthstone proves yet again that playing with fun, rng decks is a big no and that you should focus on druid turn 4-5 OTKS

I will freely admit that I play questlock in wild Not the dark glare version and frankly they could take it to fifteen damage and I'd still play it I will always have a soft spot for that win condition They can make it thirty damage a step and I would still play it And I rather they do that than rework tamsin
So basically Shaman murdered,rest of the classes are fine and Warlock on standard is better than ever
Demon Hunter took a hit all because Shaman was abusing that card.
They really should have just nerfed pop up book.
Demon Hunter was also spamming Sigil, make no mistake, DH was not innocent. They nerfed that card for a reason, and anyone with half a brain is glad that it got nerfed.

After patch my 1st matchup in wild was against a bot called "the easy you - DAIZU" with the non other nerfed deck seed warlock. Can u guess who won? The bot.. why? Cuz it's a pre-determined winner game as always..doeant matter what they nerf or buff..the system is the same!!!!
i love how none of these changes fix anything but nerf demon hunter for no reason other than shaman op demon seed is still a problem fundamentally so nerf means nothing and sonya will still break the game in some form later down the line so this patch is literally dust refundable cards do quests and log off again till the next patch nothing has changed

Not nerfing ethereal oracle to a 4 mana 2/4 (or something along those lines) was a mistake. Neutrals aren’t supposed to be as strong as class cards.
Sometimes it’s a good thing for strong cards to exist. Ethereal Oracle is the glue that helps a lot of the new archetypes continue to exist and function properly. It’s one of the only cards in the set that’s actually *good* and not just *fine.*

Removing elusive from zilliax would allow hex etc which is huge. Could even maybe undo another nerf with it but it’s what’s needed.

The problem isn't with him on itself... the problem is having fifteen billions of them! Taking off reborn would make resurrecting unkilliaxes more manageable. You're right, he's no otk but against certain decks... he kinda is tho! To get rid of it you either need to steal it, a very good board clear or to lose 4 different minions slamming them into it healing your opponent for 16 in the process. The problem isn't unkilliax the problem are the two classes that abuses it, druid and warrior. It might be 9 mana but... does it really comes down on turn 9...? No. No he doesn't.
They would have to nerf like 20+ cards to get my attention again. Ill check out the meta game at rotation i suppose.

The Demon Seed's final reward is frankly just the cherry on top. Self danage Warlock would still be viable without The Demon Seed. All the more reason the card should be reworked and stop being dodged. Grand magister needs to be once per game and so does Shudderwock. Gut these terrible solitaire cards already. And fix Velen devs! Saronite chain gang combo is so broken it necessitates silence.
I'm so sick of them avoiding the obvious fix to Demon Seed: don't make the opponent take damage FOR you but WITH you. You still hurt, you're just hurting them at the same time. It's been the right answer for years and they still refuse to do it.

That's the problem with dual class cards. Druid got Priest nerfed a while back.
Not that DH is doing that bad tho. I've seen a "kill you from in hand" hybrid naga pirate dh crop up recently.... its not fun to face at all and if your opponent has any healing you fold like a paper but considering there's like... 1 class that heals competitively speaking it shouldn't be all that bad.
Hey with the recent buffs you can shadowstep Talgath and copy it with Sonya for some interesting clears. Oh wait Tar slick is a thing LUL !
