Thank you for your service young veteran, may you never be forgotten.
DOH!
I am not even an American but I love how dedicated you are to this series - very interesting and I always learn something from you.
I was born in Madrid, Spain, and had to become an American citizen. My parents adopted all four of us children while they were living overseas and working for Brown & Boot, Inc. I love American history.
One interesting thing about Andrew Johnson is that after he left office in 1869, a few years later he was elected to the U.S. Senate but passed away before taking his seat. The only former President to have been later elected to the Senate. John Quincy Adams as a former President was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Taft, served in the House, president and chief justice in addition to governor of the Philippines and post master.
@@timmcdowell4092 I meant after serving as President.
Thanks Steve I really enjoyed these visits to the grave of the presidents I've never been able to go and see their graves so it's nice to see him this away you take care and God bless
I visited Andrew Johnson's grave back in 99'. The countryside is probably one of the most beautiful of the Presidential resting places.
It teaches us a lesson...If you want your legacy to persist, don't be a jerk !!!

Nice job Steve, enjoy seeing all the presidents gravesites ! Not one of my favorite Presidents nor is he perceived popular by most but non the less its history ! THANKS ! Bob
Hello Steve, thanks for another great and interesting video!
Thank you. Enjoying your President series. I will keep my opinions on Andrew Johnson to myself but he was a disgraceful president. He didn't understand the Civil War changed America.
Some people still hold that opinion.
Great video happy fathers day have a nice weekend
Thanks Steve!!!!❤❤❤❤ You're always an enjoyment. Love you're channell

Hi Hoosier, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thank you so much for the generous donation. That's really nice of you. You'll be getting a shout out soon! :-)
Steve I just love your channel, thank you.
I appreciate you sharing
Great information and beautiful place, Steve. I recall back in the fifties in elementary school learning that Andrew Johnson was the only president ever impeached. As you say, that has changed. recall that we thought the word impeached was very funny and inspired visions of throwing rotten peaches at a bad president…kids eh. Take care and look forward to your next one. 🦘
What a pretty Cemetery
Love this I never knew any of this thanks for sharing.
I always learn so much from your videos. You really do your research! This is a beautiful area; we’ll have to go there.

I love his patriotism that's how I want to be buried wrapped in old glory can't think of a better way to be buried.
Watch and love this video you did on this nice cemetary in the name of the 17th American president Johnson. I might say very nice place to visit and very clean too. Nice historic site to visit. Never went to this state of Greenville in Tennessee. Watching this video from Paramaribo in Suriname.
Love your videos you are so sweet keep them coming
Very interesting
Hi Steve, nice you read the info for us who have dyslexi 👍😃
Great video it's like being in history class when you do these type of vlogs i always learn something from them Thank You Steve.
wow awesome video!!! reallu neat!!!
It is great that you are visiting all of the Presidents' gravesites. It is very informative. Thank you Steve for sharing such accurate history. I am a historian and my love is Abraham Lincoln. By the way, I live in a very small town close to Louisville, Ky. I am so sorry that you were locked in Cave Hill Cemetery. The officials of the Cemetery need to be more efficient in running it. Of course, help has been short or not at all do to the pandemic.
Great job once again. Happy fathers day buddy. All the best. If it gets crazy hot in Palm Springs (like that never happens) maybe do a vlog to see if you truly can fry an egg on the sidewalk. haha
Steve did you know president Johnson became vice president because he was against the civil war
One must give Andrew Johnson credit for rising from sheer poverty to becoming a very successful tailor. Sadly, he had no education, but taught himself to read and his wife helped him learn to write. Beyond that, he was a man that was obsessed with power, hence his climb of the political ladder in Tennessee. Moreover, he was not an individual that possessed an expanding mind. He carried a very unhealthy resentment toward those with wealth, due to the humiliations he suffered in his youth; and was perpetually at odds with others. He always felt that everyone was against him. President Johnson was certainly a rare Southern Unionist, which the Republican Party, and Lincoln, used as a national unity appeal to the States of the Confederacy, in 1864. That was the reason behind choosing him as the VP candidate. Nonetheless, if anyone had expected President Lincoln to die in office, Mr. Johnson would NEVER have been on the ticket.
I love traveling with you.
Thanks!
Hi Zing, you are too generous! Thank you once again! You have another shout out coming soon. Very appreciated :-)
Nice history information & nice tour. Your videos are always informative. Everything looks very nice. Keep up the good work.😊
Very nice.
another great post
Thanks for showing us Andrew Johnsons Grave site! I had no idea he was burried wrapped in an American Flag. Wonder if he was wearing anything else?
Thanks Steve! Happy Father's Day to you 💙
Well, it’s about time you visited the tombs of Presidents
RIP Andrew Johnson
Steve. Thank you. I enjoy the videos very much. Two questions. Would it be the 13th amendment and not the 14th ? Also, with the veterans graves surrounding his site, were they Union , Confederate or both. He was a US President but was from Tennessee ?
Thanks again. I look forward to the next trip to the cemetery !
The 13th Amendment abolished slavery and was ratified in December 1865. Steve was correct in stating that Johnson opposed the 14th Amendment which gave all individuals born in the United States (or legally became citizens) regardless of race citizenship rights. I believe that the cemetery contains the graves of veterans from all wars in addition to the civil war. Johnson was originally born in North Carolina, but spent most of his life in Greenville, Tennessee. He was on the city council, served as mayor of Greenville, served in the Tennessee state legislature, and served in Congress as a representative and senator from Tennessee. Johnson was the only Southern senator who refused to leave the Senate when the Civil War started and still claimed to represent the state of Tennessee which had left the union. He also served as military governor (appointed by Lincoln) of Tennessee. After being impeached, he was elected once more to serve as senator, but died before taking office again as a senator from Tennesse. Greenville is a pretty town. I was born about 50 miles east of Greenville in Northeastern Tennessee.
been there thank you
I live in Australia nice to see about USA
This is the first time I realized that Andrew Johnson had been born in the South. Makes me wonder why he didn't fight for the Confederacy during the Civil War.
Plenty of men from southern states fought in the Union army during the Civil War. Entire units came from southern states. If I'm not mistaken, South Carolina stood alone as the only southern state that did not have a full militia or unit fighting for the Union during the war.
great video sir
Don't believe it would EVER be seen as a badge of honor. Wow...no
Hey Steve loving your videos. One request can you show how easy it can be for handicapped individuals to visit some of these graves please.
Him and Lyndon Johnson were born a 100 years apart
I told my Family to put me in the "Green Can" when I "Check Out"
👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
Alright Mr. President you are buried in a gorgeous
I actually live in Greeneville!
i have been there and also visited his house.
R.I.P. President Andrew Johnson
"'A Badge of Honor"??? Well I got a two worded reply to that.
He was the only president to make his own clothes.
Interesting
I might mention that Andrew Johnson did little if anything to follow through with Lincoln's wishes. He is not considered to be one of the best presidents, but to each his own.
Just waiting for my you to get to Indianapolis Indiana
Thx everybody for contributing to Steve, I can't right now, as I am broke, sorry!😏
I'm guessing that since they had a phone number to call if you do get locked in that it has happened to other people. It shouldn't happen at all.
Ah, Andrew Johnson, the man I consider to be the worst president in US History. However, he has a beautiful grave site with a lovely view and I love the quaint little town of Greeneville, I'll always remember when I went there. Great video as always, man. Keep it up!
You need to check the history of Bush Clinton Obama with their track record in war atrocities,as for Andrew Johnson
his history doesn't make good reading.
very good i would like to know about the actress mary tylor moore
I visited her too and will share that visit in a future video.
thank you so much you really give it your heart and soul i like what you show be well and keep up your great work
He was very different from Lincoln politically. Unfortunately he dismantled Lincoln's plan to help recently freed African Americans adjust to living their own lives productively. The 14th Amendment would have helped somewhat too. Instead it was open season on former slaves in the South after the Civil War.
Wonder who the women's brother was, reason, when I was in Arizona, 1/2 of the platoon went to Viet Nam & other;s, various, I was Blessed & went to Southern Korea.. Did find out later, a guy I worked with at Steak n Shake, had gone to Viet Nam & killed...
Andrew Johnson: dreadful president, twisted human being, fantastic grave. Thank you for including the anecdote about the visitor paying respects to her brother. It shows that cemeteries have different meanings to different people.
LOL, what do you really think Kurt! :-) I remember you saying that he was probably the most racist President, in your video interview with Joe Carroll. Ironic, isn't it, that he was Lincoln's VP. One of the best Presidents and one of the worst. Life is stranger than fiction sometimes!
He was a man with some "baggage."
