It's deeper than that. Victor Owusu from Agona (Wireko Brobbey's uncle), who possibly relates to this guy won the primaries to become the flagbearer of the UP tradition (PFP) in 1979. Akuffo Addo and his uncle William Ofori Atta (Ken Ofori Atta's father) broke out of the party to form their own (with Paa Willie as the flag bearer and Akuffo Addo as secretary). When there was a run off between Liman and Victor Owusu (PFP) after the main election, the UNC (Akuffo Addo's party then) still supported Liman against their mother party. That's how Liman became president. If Victor Owusu had won, Rawlings most probably could not have staged the 1981 coup de tat. These few Akyem Abuakwa people have hated Asantes from the 60s and 70s till now. I believe Alan will pay them back in their own coins this year.
