Great to see you back Dan. I finally moved in February, and have only in the last few weeks started to rebuild the layout. Look.forward to seeing your plans.
Congratulations on a successful move, home ownership, and on securing the excellent garage space on a long-term lease from your wife! I'm very pleased with the news that you plan on another nice big layout - I enjoyed following Great Deltan mk2 and look forward to whatever you make next 🙂
Good to have you back Dan😊. Looking forward to see what you come up with this time around. Westhill Wagon Works release their new N Gauge catenary this weekend at TINGS. That might be useful to you - especially as NBrass no longer trades. Cheers Euan
Great to see you're coming back! Completely agree about the stay alives..my layout is in the garage (external to the house) and track cleaning feels constant. Stay alives definitely make a big difference
Great to see you'll be doing another layout from next year - I shall watch with interest once again. I've only just passed the one year anniversary of my layout and still have a long way to go - it's definitely a marathon, not a sprint!
Hi Dan Its great to hear you are coming back in N gauge, bigger and better than ever. I do think its good to take you time with the planning and build up if rolling stock etc, especially as both time and money are in short supply at the moment (the hobby never gets any cheaper for good quality items). Good luck with everything, looking forward to all the details coming to fruition. Thanks
Thank you very much, unfortunately yes it is getting ever more expensive for even the most basic of stock, I'll be regularly scrolling the second hand market for bits
Hi Lee great to see you back and eager to start again ! Also thank you for sharing what happened to the old layout, hopefully it will eventually find a happy new home. Re the new project I will look forward to seeing you using your finely developed skills from your last two builds, as I also plan to start my retirement project next year as well.
Such a good feeling to have a blank canvas so to speak and of course, being able to use everything you have learned to out-do yourself in the next carnation of the layout. Personally i learn more from each layout and whats important in the hobby to me, such as semi-automation. This looks like a great opportunity for you to focus on a longer term project. Would you ever go down the route of loosely modelling a real location?
I plan on basing this station heavily on Northampton with the architecture and design. Semi automation like you say will be very helpful in the long run, I look forward to getting started and taking a good deal of time with this
Great news on the pending new layout Dan, making it stand alone has benefits from moving house and or selling. Depending on the timber size you can make the modules quite big easily 8 foot or so. as a matter of interest what did you clean your track with and how often was it necessary? Looking forward to more video, all the best.
Thank you I'll take that into consideration, I cleaned the track with an abrasive track rubber and then hoover afterwards, I cleaned it moreless every couple of weeks or so, or when I wanted to run bits anyway
If you have lots of time before you start, spend a lot of time working on the track plan. You can even make videos about it. Getting the track plan right is important. And you can never underestimate the size of fiddle yard that you'll need. Also, I approve of stay-alives.
I agree, as there were parts of my old layout I disliked but had to live with them anyway, hopefully this time I can be truly happy with what I do with the space
Hopefully you don’t regret selling all that stock …. 😮 But a roof over your head is more important than „toys“ .. … Wish you lots of fun building the new one 👍
Hi Dan I’m the new owner of great deltan mk2 It will basically stay similar with the addition of an underground station, a hst and loco depot plus a working water mill It will be a Scotland based layout and will start a video channel next year when I can get it assembled
Ah brilliant to hear from you! I very much will like to see the progress you make with that, if you can, please message the Great deltan Facebook page if you need any help with some bits thank you.
Glad to see your back, and that you still intend to build another layout. I shall (again) watch with interest ;)
Thank you, I'm glad to know youre still keen to follow
Very pleased to see you are back and planning a new layout. Hope you have settled in well and look forward to seeing the new layout progress! 😊
Thank you very much, I spent an entire weekend building flat packs and putting bits in the wall but got there in the end
Excellent news, great to be able to look forward to your new project as it permits.
Thank you!

Now that I didn't know, much appreciated that should help a great deal as those N brass kits were top notch
Great to see you're coming back!

It's something I should've gone to a long time ago
