I feel like no one else is saying it but my fucking god, how good is the performance of Arthur Morgan. Roger Clark should never have to work again. Such great writing and voice acting. He should be given every accolade and awards going. This is some game. And this mission is in the top three of the game. Had absolutely everything.
Roger Clark did a phenomenal job but I feel like Benjamin Bryon Davis also deserves some respect as his role as Dutch van der Linde was fantastic as well.
Bill is probably the reason why Sean died. He said in this mission that he's been drinking with the Grays and cooking up something, this is before Micah's mission in Rhodes. Something might've slipped off his mouth while drunk which caused the Grays to ambush us.
Honestly the gang was the reason for his death they were sloppy and lazy and careless and dumb especially in chapter 4 Hosea was right they shouldn’t have gone to kill bronte because saint denis is a known city and it would make too much noise so they just led the pinkertons right to them (sry I went a little off course)

And yeah, after all, Micah was always an asshole, while Dutch is a manipulating lying hypocrite, who always tried to portray himself like and caring person who wanted the best for the gang, while in fact all he wanted is to continue to live a life of an outlaw. The fact that in the end he abandoned two gang members who was with him the most time and who he raised like sons just makes me hate him more than hate Micah. He is the main rat in the gang, not Micah
It really breaks my heart seeing Bill like this and then what became of him in the first game. He conducted an excellent heist with no awful long term results, which is more than what Dutch can say in this game, and acted like an actual leader. It’s honestly no surprise his gang in RDR1 became such a force to be reckoned with.
For all of the speculation about who the rat(s) was in the gang, this mission shows a perfectly plausible alternative solution--they were turned in by any of the thousands of NPCs that rode between them while they were loudly planning a robbery on the way to the bank.
+Nvl2 Still it's a bit easier than on horse, give some delay till they go after you. Shaking camera can be annoying sometime when you're shooting them on foot without Dead Eye.

In all fairness, Karen did most of the planning and work on the job. Bill took a bit of credit for it. Even a camp interaction where he tries to take her off the job that she planned
Just in case anyone’s wondering, when arthur says he’ll keep her in black, it means he isn’t afraid to kill the son, and when people die people usually wear black to mourn them or to show others someone died
Arthur: You think were here for fun?! Proceeds to yell aggressively towards the bank clerk. Legit got chills during this mission on my 1st playthrough. Rockstar never disappoints on Single Player Stories.

Pity that the best part of the Bank Robbery Theme, at around 14:05, gets drowned out by gunfire. That bit also seems more suited for the looting, when you feel the time pressure and are nervous, rather than the actual fight.
I think they were talking about the amount of time Karen and Bill spent scouting the best times for the bank, when there would be less law around, etc. The real life Wild Bunch ran by Butch Cassidy ran jobs like that to much success, as Bill does here. Only differences between the two are that Butch never killed a man and discouraged it, and he set up relay horses like the Pony Express to quicken his pace and outrun the law.
I just love the dead eye mechanic and it’s also hilarious. Like theres a gunfight and nobody is hitting anyone and then Arthur somehow lets off 8 shots in the course of a couple of seconds and they hit 8 different heads half a mile away

If you go to the theatre tent in Valentine, one of the shows is based on the story of Noah. It's refreshing to have these Biblical references from time to time you know

I finished about 80% of the game. And to me, it's arguably the game's most action-packed most epic mission. And the soundtrack is great. That music that comes in the moment Karen says we have a problem is great. Woody Jackson is a genius. I think this game is more epic, more artistic and the story is deeper than the GTA series.

The shootout scene when they get out of the bank is so bad ass. I was going to crack the safes in my first PS5 Playthrough, but I think I might do this instead.

There are records where the teller is slowly opening the safe to buy some time I do think it's necessary to hit the teller to make him more scared to forces him to open the safe faster
the fact that literally the only thing that can not go to plan is the law showing up outside the bank (which can be entirely avoided) shows that bill is better at planning than dutch and hosea
Bill's not the brightest, But I won't lie, he's one of the more competent members of the gang when Arthur or Dutch gives him clear, direct instructions. Just sucks there was no mechanic to recruit Bill/Javier to Arthur's side.
When I first played this mission I thought my game was bugged since that persistent bass in a single note sounded kinda off, but now rewatching it here I realize that it was meant to create tension and anticipation for the most profitable and clean heist in the game, and damn is it effective at that.

this heist felt so random and there was really no build up to it. it was just “lets go rob the bank in valentine” and it ended up being the best heist in the game lol
karen mentioned about it in an early chapter 2 main mission (mary beth talked about the lemoyne train robbery too)
