When Chris Simms says watch out for this player, you better at least take a look. His prior takes have been great. Remember how Kiper, Daniel Jeremiah and others were stuck on Rosen/Darnold, who said watch out for Lamar & Josh Allen? Simms has consistently picked the better QBs every draft except a couple. Simms spoke about Mahomes well before anybody was on that train. Just FYI.

I went back and watched every single Kellen Mond throw much like Simms and I gotta tell u he’s spot on! Outside of the LSU game he was really good, not great, but the potential is there. He has a robotic style delivery but that can be fixed or adjusted with the right coaching. I think once he takes a deep dive in his tape he’ll see that he’s a superior athlete and can loosen up a little. Definitely will take a couple years to develop.
Im a USC fan bro. I knew both Rosen and Darnold were mediocre period. I thought Rosen was trash at UCLA. But somehow every year these gms are either smoking dope or just blind.
Darnold was maybe the better prospect in the sense that he had more production in college, but GMs don't draft players for what they did in the past but for what they are projected to be at the next level. And I love how Jets fans always say "Allen is only good because he plays for the Bills." The Bills? The team that has been the laughingstock of the NFL the last 20 years. The Bills are good because of Allen. And the dude is an insanely hard worker who gives it 110% both on the field and during the off-season to improve his mechanics, he hasn't been given anything. The people who bash Allen are almost invariably those who don't actually watch him play outside of the couple of primetime games the Bills get every year.

It was clear Alabama used Mac like a traditional QB while they used Tua like someone they didn't trust. Look at Tua's passes. I'd say 3 QBs are going to be the new wave once Brady hangs it up and it appears to be Wilson, Lawrence and Jones. I want to see what Simms sees in Mond but time will tell on that one. Belichick agrees with Simms on Mac Jones. As a Vikes's fan I hope he is right about Kellen Mond. Chris is a great qb evaluator. Thinking someone like Mel Kiper gets paid to promote other QB's and not his honest evaluation. According to Chris, the Vikes got the best value with Kellen Mond.

As a Jets fan, I’ve been thinking about the possibility of the Jags taking Wilson, but it’s kind of struck me that it would be insanely difficult for them to do so. Wilson might be able to win them a championship or two, but Lawrence gives them a chance to become the region’s most popular franchise after an entire existence of being an afterthought
Simms definitely takes a liking to QBs that can throw off-platform or when the play breaks down. It's why he loves Mahomes/Rodgers whilst finding ways to downplay Brady's greatness (which is beyond absurd btw). But I love Zach Wilson too, he does all the things required of a modern QB. He's kinda like a smaller, more compact but far more accurate version of Justin Herbert, and we've seen just how good Justin Herbert is in the NFL. Having a laser for an arm, being able to move outside the pocket and improvise off-script is so important and he does that better than any QB in this class. Would be the #1 pick in any other draft class.

Who do I compare Mac Jones to.. well the player I think he reminds me of and can have the same impact is Tom Brady.. both are pretty accurate passers, understands his reads, is able to look off players and sort through his progressions, loves to hang in the pocket.. and the guy is a winner.. I would not be afraid to take Mac in this draft.. I would not take him at the top of the draft in the top 5.. but any time after the other QB's are off the board.. by all means.. SF should really consider taking him at 12..
Wilson at 6'2 3/4 is the only fault? I think that height is plenty good for QB.. how many passes is he having batted back into his face is what I would be worried about.. if its non existent.. then whats to complain about?
Wilson and Lawrence will probably be the rockstars in this class. Whoever goes to San Fran will probably be the most successful in terms of team success. Mac could be that if he lands in San Fran or New England. Whoever goes to Carolina will be the bust in this class.

Its actually his draft breakdowns in 2018 where he had some in agreement with me that weren't popular. Every year he nails the unpopular opinions I agree with. I been a draft junkie myself since 90. Nowadays EVERY guy with equipment is a draft guru with a channel. Some are actually pretty good as well. So to me Chris is the voice of the common folk who will never have a chance to make a mark in the NFL but he keeps us going cuz its great to have a voice to speak on our behalf when our top 5-10 don't match the same generic answers.
Man, I wish we could get Chris to evaluate a couple of the lesser-known QBs in this draft like Newman, Ehlinger, Costello, and Book. These guys are not Day 1 picks, but I would love an in-depth analysis of these other guys.

As a Jets fan, I’ve been thinking about the possibility of the Jags taking Wilson, but it’s kind of struck me that it would be insanely difficult for them to do so. Wilson might be able to win them a championship or two, but Lawrence gives them a chance to become the region’s most popular franchise after an entire existence of being an afterthought

Simms definitely takes a liking to QBs that can throw off-platform or when the play breaks down. It's why he loves Mahomes/Rodgers whilst finding ways to downplay Brady's greatness (which is beyond absurd btw). But I love Zach Wilson too, he does all the things required of a modern QB. He's kinda like a smaller, more compact but far more accurate version of Justin Herbert, and we've seen just how good Justin Herbert is in the NFL. Having a laser for an arm, being able to move outside the pocket and improvise off-script is so important and he does that better than any QB in this class. Would be the #1 pick in any other draft class.
2018 Justin Herbert was a beast, dude threw nothing but dimes.

I’ve said this a million times since D-NOzzle Steve young called Simms Pampered as kid and was proven wrong when Simms finished the 2nd half of a game with a RUPTURED SPLEEN. I played Simms wen he was in6th grade and I was in 8th in 92. He didn’t have an EZ life. When he was in the game I heard Dads on our sideline yell “Put in Hostlettlers kid”. Who do I compare Mac Jones to.. well the player I think he reminds me of and can have the same impact is Tom Brady.. both are pretty accurate passers, understands his reads, is able to look off players and sort through his progressions, loves to hang in the pocket.. and the guy is a winner.. I would not be afraid to take Mac in this draft.. I would not take him at the top of the draft in the top 5.. but any time after the other QB's are off the board.. by all means.. SF should really consider taking him at 12..
Wilson at 6'2 3/4 is the only fault? I think that height is plenty good for QB.. how many passes is he having batted back into his face is what I would be worried about.. if its non existent.. then whats to complain about?

Wilson and Lawrence will probably be the rockstars in this class. Whoever goes to San Fran will probably be the most successful in terms of team success. Mac could be that if he lands in San Fran or New England. Whoever goes to Carolina will be the bust in this class.
I see the same things Chris sees. Completely agree. I'm glad someone has the guts to move Lawrence down.

I've watched quite a bit film on all 6 top QBs and you are dead on except Mond. I just couldn't see through any film that he should be in the top 6.
Have you tried his game against Florida, he had a bad pick six against Alabama other than it’s again a solid game. Typical NFL pick six
@@Elan8chz I like Mond, but I do have a couple problems with him. His accuracy outside the numbers is less consistent than inside. He also likes to stare down reads at times. He shows the ability to read through at times like Simms mentions. It's just not consistent

Its actually his draft breakdowns in 2018 where he had some in agreement with me that weren't popular. Every year he nails the unpopular opinions I agree with. I been a draft junkie myself since 90. Nowadays EVERY guy with equipment is a draft guru with a channel. Some are actually pretty good as well. So to me Chris is the voice of the common folk who will never have a chance to make a mark in the NFL but he keeps us going cuz its great to have a voice to speak on our behalf when our top 5-10 don't match the same generic answers.
Man, I wish we could get Chris to evaluate a couple of the lesser-known QBs in this draft like Newman, Ehlinger, Costello, and Book. These guys are not Day 1 picks, but I would love an in-depth analysis of these other guys.

Just feels like over the past few years Simms has really upended the calculus on the draft.He's making the everyday fan far more knowledegable about who the better players are, and I think he's starting to put pressure on front offices who have not been good at draft evaluation by doing business as usual. He's going to end up in someone's front office -- hopefully the Niners',

I like Chris's evaluations and where they're ranked, but I'd take it a step further and say if Mack Jones is drafted by San Francisco he will ultimately have the better career than Trevor Lawrence and ultimately be seen as the better QB without a doubt.
SF is not drafting Jones.
More than the Draft results, Simms is picturing how they will develop in the NFL and how good they will be 4 years down the road!

After the Lamar analysis I will only ever trust Simms analysis. Also Kellen Mond is RAW. Not entirely surprised somebody as diligent as Simms noticed.
Simms rankings aren't necessarily how good they are now, but how good of a "prospect" so if they can get good, he gives them a better rank, side note, I think he was right about Daniel Jones, dude is trash

C. Simms got Mac Jones right. But the Mac Jones not looking cool in the uniform thing I believe is just grasping straws. He is shaped differently than a Trevor or Zach. So naturally he is not going to look “cool”. But Simms at least gave Mac the props he deserves. Now, I just hope Atlanta or New Orleans will draft him.
