Speaking of blu ray showings at movie theatres, I went to a theater in San Diego called The Ken Cinema which was showing Akira at midnight as part of a special event. The poster clearly stated "Original 35mm print with Japanese subtitles". I thought that was perfect. I wasn't a fan of the Pioneer re-dub, so if I'm going to see Akira I'd prefer to see it with subtitles. I get my ticket, go inside and sit down, a few minutes later the lights dim and I see on the screen a big ass Blu-Ray logo, then a menu, then someone selects "start movie" and it plays for a bit, then gets to the talking and it's in English, but there are also subtitles on the bottom of the screen. The movie stops, they go to the subtitle menu, remove the English subtitles, start it back up, realize that the movie started at the point thye stopped it, hit back one chapter, and then started it up again. I ended up staying just because I wanted the experience of Akira on a big screen but I've never been back to that theatre since.
When I saw John Wick Chapter 2, at the last 30 minutes of the movie the guy in the row in front of me decided to facetime his girlfriend will his volume at full blast. My friend and I told him to turn it off then he started to threaten us all the way til' the end of the movie. Seriously, fuck that dude.
I can't really relate to people talking during the movies at any age. Even when I was a stupid teenager, I always had respect for the theater experience. Now I may have driven like a madman though a few yards and flower gardens on the way to the theater, but absolutely no talking during the movie.

Well, we get in there and it is just us and a group of like 5 teenagers in the back. They spent 99% of the time since the trailes being on their phone... playing music putting it on speaker phone and talking. I flipped my shit after 10 mins of it, I stood up and turned around and said "If you don't shut the fuck up, I will come back there and shove your fucking phones up each and every one of your asses." Well, they got quiet and my fiance was like "Thank you, seriously." Lmao, first date.. first impressions. We've been together for 8 years now.

I went to a rerelease screening of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (I think it was part of a ten year anniversary thing for the whole series where they showed the extended cuts with special featurettes before, but I only went to the third one). I had seen the movies before and my friend wanted to see it in theaters again, I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of the series. But every single person at this screening happened to be enormous fans (as expected for a special release screening), so for 3+ hours I sat in a packed theater as huge swaths of people read along with different scenes, got super worked up over things they had seen countless times before, and even sang along to the Hobbit songs. The fact that the movie has like six false endings just capped off an awful moviegoing experience, which has ruined the entire series for me now. So my Movie Fuckhead Experience is an entire theater of fuckheads.
My girlfriend really wanted to see this shit move called "After" so I took her to it. 3 college aged girls sat right in front of us and there was a mom and her college aged daughter sitting behind us. The theater was empty besides that. Throughout the movie, the girls in front of us were talking at full volume and whistling when this one guy would come on screen. It wasn't just like once every 10 minutes, it was like they'd talk for 5 to 10 minutes and then be quiet for 3. I eventually went to the theater staff and they talked to them. The staff left and immediately they started talking again. The mom and daughter were getting frustrated too so they asked them to be quiet and then the girls in front got louder and started talking shit about the mom and daughter. Around that same time, this random guy walks in (probably hopping between movies as they end) and sits on the ground level, right near the door. After 10 minutes he pulls out an iPad at full brightness and volume and a ring tone goes off. Turns out it was a FaceTime call so he answers and starts talking to someone. At this point I was just laughing at how fucking horrible these people were but my girlfriend really wanted to see the movie so I went to the staff again. They had the guy put away his iPad and one employee sat near the girls and another sat behind the iPad guy. They were all pretty quiet after that point but by then there was only about 20 minutes left in the movie so we had essentially missed over an hour because of these absolute fuck heads. I'm really sensitive when it comes to people in movie theaters so I can think of someone being a fuck head in nearly every movie I've seen but these people were by far the worst. Also right around the time that covid was first being discovered and articles were coming out about it (late 2019), I went to a movie and these people decided to sit 2 seats away from me. 2 out of the 3 of them were coughing without covering their mouth. I covered my mouth and moved far away but I was so fucking mad that they were so damn stupid that they couldn't even cover their mouth properly
I went to see deadpool 2 and some teenagers wouldn't shut up for a whole movie. Two teenage girls whispering to each other so loud i could hear them and it distracted me from watching the movie, i spoke up to tell them to shut up until i changed seat while there wasn't much people in theater.
