Our Crosstrek was perfect for our family of 4 from baby to tweens, having more than 2 kids probably would have changed my opinion though, also remove to rear cargo cover to maximize storage space
Love my 2019, never thought about having kids in it but it is spacious! The value has maintained and is still estimated at just about what I bought it for 4 years ago. Base model doesn’t have ANY vents in the back seat though, not even on the console 😢and the only cup holders in the back are on the door and my 30oz hydroflask doesn’t fit.
Worth mentioning for any parents considering Subaru, the Wilderness and Onyx trims across Subaru’s lineup use Subaru’s StarTex waterproof synthetic leather. It’s awesome, my kid threw up in the back seat of my Forester Wilderness a few days after we brought it home and the mess literally just wiped off. Also if you are in the market for a Crosstrek and have a kid in a car seat, especially if you are considering having another kid, look at the Forester. The Forester isn’t much bigger externally, but is way bigger on the inside, you will appreciate the additional space. You’ll also get rear a/c vents, reclining rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. If you look at the different trim levels, it isn’t much of a difference in money to jump to the Forester from the Crosstrek.
Just bought a 24 Crosstrek Sport. Actually, the interior size is impressive. As for the cloth seats they're really comfortable and cloth is a plus where I live. It gets really hot in my area in the summer and really cold in the winter. I've had leather and it cooked my legs when I'd get in during the summer. When it's 20 below I'll definitely take the heated seats over a power tailgate. The Crosstrek is a bargain. I bought my Sport for $28,400 a month ago.
For anyone who needs this in the future, I had 2 kids with my Impreza. I thought I was going to have to get a bigger car with the baby but the infant seat fit fine behind the drivers seat. Was very happy with it. But it would definitely not fit 3 across.
Subaru is the Kirkland value brand of passenger cars. You could get an Impreza, which is basically the car version of this, for as low as $23,000 and fit 3 car seats, two six foot adults, a roof rack, and a hitch carrier. You could buy this as your first new car when you're 26 and keep it running for 20 years.
A lack of rear facing vents in the center is not a big issue in a car this size that isn't like a minivan with a big volume to fill. Any heat or A/C will make it's way to the rear passengers just fine. Besides, most modern cars without rear facing vents in the center will have rear facing ducts under the front seats to move some air into the rear.
@@ncd7184 Don't see why. I had a 2012 Focus hatchback and it had rearward facing ducts under the seats. Cooled down just fine. The Crosstrek is really just a lifted hatchback. No reason why it should have trouble cooling down.
All of these new cars have remote start on an app and optionally on the key fob so you can precondition the car super easily from inside Target or something while you're in the checkout line.
Most parents I know have children's car seats that look like NASA built them, huge and looks like they pack their own parachute and ejector system, lol. Not too many peeps with those preferred NASA kids seats have good things to say about the Crosstrek. It really depends on how willing one is to adapt their kid's car seat's size to their car's limits. My 2023 Crosstrek Limited would be a tight fit for most families I know.
I have a 2024 Crosstrek Sport. It isn't a family hauler. Great for a single, couple or maybe one child. If you have 4+ family members, just get a Forrester or Outback.
So is it safe to say that strollers swallow all the trunk space in pretty much any vehicle? I never feel like there is much usable space once the stroller goes in, and that's after watching this Crosstrek, or even the Rav4, CR-V, GH, etc. So for all my smaller vehicle owners, how do you make the space work for, say, 2 adults + 2 kids plus luggage? (Asking for a 2020 Mazda3 HB owner 😅)
Move up to the base model Forester. The Forester is unique within its segment because it does not have the sporty rake in the rear as does the CX5. The actual usable space is much greater. With the base model you get all the safety features a family needs. Or the greater deal is to go base model and do the few add-ons you prefer. Never purchase a set package unless you're going with top of the line. I was trying to go from a 2007 Tribeca to a 2022 CX5 because I loved the sporty look. But the seats were terrible compared to Forester and my two person 3day camping needs, it was just too small because of that loss of higher space near the rear gate. If you're into long trips, the Forester is extremely pleasant because of the amount of glass to view nature.(2022 Forester Touring owner)
Agreed, my wife has a cx-5, I just got a new forester and can vouch that the forester has more usable space in the trunk even thought the cx-5’s trunk is larger on paper. Also that Subaru cargo cover is removable and makes a big difference in fitting a stroller in the trunk once it’s out! Also, our cx-5 fits a rear facing car seat, but we have to slide up the passenger seat. My wife and I are both 6ft tall and our knees are almost into the dash with a Graco SlimFit rear facing behind the passenger seat. In the Forester, I can slide the passenger seat all the way back, have a comical amount of leg room and still not touch the car seat!!! For road trips we use a rooftop bag to give us more storage capacity, they’re awesome. Sorry for the novel, I hope this helps someone!
@@ncd7184 we ended up with the Mazda CX-50. The trunk is deeper, so you can actually fit things in front or behind the stroller, so that keeps from having to stack everything on top of the stroller, at least.
crosstrek is super tight , if you have kids i wouldnt get one. maybe one kid at most. great car overall but not a family hauler and no chance two carseats fit back there with two adults in the front seats.

Eh I had a 2018 with black interior it took a while to cool down

Yup I have a 2013 Expedition. With the stroller there is no trunk
