Great no-nonsense video! After owning 3 GS's in almost six years between 2005 and 2011, I acutally said 'never again' - been there, done that etc. Then, after owning a plethora of other bikes between 2011 - 2022 I found myself being the happy (and surprised!) owner of a 1250gs Rallye TE with lowering kit. Simply put, there is a reason these things sell by the bucket-load and that's because they are simply brilliant bikes. As you so rightly put it, they are not just the 'Jack of all trades' they are actually the 'Master of many trades'. My 2005 1200gs will always be my number 1 bike of all time - it was such a game-changer back then. But, my 2022 may knock it off that pedestal once I have got some serious miles in. Once again, great vid and keep up the good work!

What a relaxing video. Very smooth riding indeed.
Having moved away from owning a GS over the past few years a GSA is looming large in my plans for 2023. Really master of all trades as you say.

I just got a 2023 1250gs with the low suspension. I'm not that short (5'10" with 32" inseam) but that lower suspension gives me the ability to completely flat foot it which is nice for such a large bike, especially with a pillion on board. I only have 800 miles on it so far but what an amazing ride. Feels like a much lighter bike, comfortable, sporty, fun. Yep, the quick shifter is surprisingly sub par. I'm hoping over time it gets better but for now I won't use it in the lower 3 gears either. Not a big deal, I like using the clutch and it's buttery smooth. In dynamic mode its behavior really changes. Easy to do a wheelie and very sharp throttle response. I'm going to play around with dynamic pro and set wheelie mode low so I don't pull wheelies by accident until I get used to the machine.

Let me guess...errr... your gonna get a 1250 GSA ( 30 ltr tank etc ) I have the 1250 GS TE. Absolutely love it. Commute all year round on it, first BMW I've owned and it really is the Swiss Army knife ( Bike ) Bigger and more trips planned for 2023. Great vlog Reg, looking forward to the new bike reveal.

I agree with your comments, I have a 2019 rt and after 32000 miles the gearbox is very nice and the nav 6 refuses to work at all now, also I’ve had a new exhaust fitted under warranty because of the same issue which has been ongoing for years now so you would think a design change would have happened by now, Last week the management light came on and low and behold it needs yet another exhaust but even though it’s out of warranty now the dealership tells me that bmw will sort it, but it’s a lovely bike to ride and looking at the price of a new one mines a keeper. Bet you can’t wait until the new bike comes.

Had the identical bike new in Sept 2020 did 12K on it and loved it too!! having only a 29in inside leg I should have gone for the low chassis. Changed to an F900 XR TE last Sept and while it doesn't have the same presence or grunt its a great alternative if you are a little short and older like me !!!😉 and it's a bit more nimble !!

I'm guessing the new bike will be a GS in new clothes. Enjoy the RT Reg 😀

I have had a simular route to gs as you in early 22 i had decided to get down to one bike. So z1000sx gone hexhead r1200rt gone gen 1 tuono gone then 2022 new xr in april put 3500miles over 5 months didnt like it so traded it for my r1250gsa rallye te 1700miles later it was new in sept and i cant fault it what a machine

I’d put a ride on it being a GS Adventure TE. Does what it says on the tin, Tackles Everything😉👍

Oh dear, I have the same TE Exclusive too, though as I'm only 5'7" short mine is the factory lowered one on a 20 plate but its only done 3k miles so far. After having 2 1200 GSs previously the 1250 is definitely a better bike as to me for real world riding where your licence is important, but you still want to have a bit of fun it's all the bike you'll never need. My guess would be another XR.....

I have my 2019 model XR since may 2020 and have 70 000 kms on it now, all year all weather in Belgium.
For me the XR is a much nicer ride because of the butter smooth gearbox/quickshifter. I only use the clutch for starts and full stops.
It is weird , when i see GS riders testing the XR and riding it like a gs (see tmf or teapotone) shifting up much to early and then saying the bike has to little grunt.
I made the reverse mistake, and rode the gs like an xr, running it to 8000 or 9000 before shifting, the first day. I got to appreciate it a little more the second day, riding on torque, but still was very pleased to get back on my trusted XR.

Me buy a GS, ha ! No Way! Took one for a test ride to see what the fuss was about. Bought it. A bit steady after a KTM, but low down grunt & smoothness along with a low C of G was a pleasant change.

You should try economy mode, it’s rather amusing!

another great vid! would love something like that, but at 5'6" i think it is going to be a bit big. really need to pop to the "local" bmw dealership (approx 50 miles away :( ) and see if i can fit on it.

the starting issue gets worse unfortunately on my 1250 the bikes on its third battery and it seems to be a compression release issue as even a fully charged battery will surge down to nothing on starting because of the load. As for corrosion i'm into year 4 and bubbling paint galore on my HP very upset with the build quality after 6 or so gs's

My guess... an Orange County Choppers import. Or possibly a 2023 model GS.
